It's a shame Capel wasn't part of the deal

So Zoko's gone to greet the rain in Spain. I, unlike some, certainly won't be missing him.



It's not that he didn't try, it's just that a certain sports journalist by the name of Gabriele Marcotti told the world how great Zokora was, and that was even before we had lodged a bid for him.



So there I was, listening to Marcotti rant and rave about a world class player called Didi Zokora. Next thing I know, we signed the fella.



Marcotti must have been talking about another Didier Zokora. Strange that; seeing as the player Marcotti was on about played for the Ivory Coast and for Saint Etienne.



Hasn't it happened to you? You're told to go and watch this amazing film and you're all hyped up about it as the critics are claiming it to be the best film out this year!



Then the disappointment sets in. The films rubbish. Well that's how I felt with Zoko. So much promise, but no end game.



We signed him as a replacement for the departed Carrick (oh how we still miss him).

If Diego Capel had been a part of the transfer sanctioned that took the Zoko to Sevilla, at least it would have gone some way to redeeming his move to us in the first place. Wishful thinking unfortunately.



So in a nutshell, am I disappointed that he's left? No. Are you?

  2. Every team needs a good utility man, and thats what he was. Comfortable if not spectacular in a range of positions and a great positive influence on team spirit.

    Can we do better? Probably. Can we do worse? Almost certainly.

I think for us to now have any chance of getting near a top 4 sorry 6 finish we have to make sur we are so strong at the back and in midfield so as the cities and villas can't break us down.I would like us to sign another hard midfielder and centre half to help us get near these teams.We may have had a good second half to last season but that will count for nothing come the new season.City have spent very big and i expect villa and everton to do so to a lesser extent so we must be strong in areas were we have been weak.We will face a new challange come the new season in villa ,city and everton.If we can match their attack with a strong defence and midfield i feel the attack has a chance.My first signing would be a centre half of quality ,followed by the holding player then worry about attack and if we can get someone in then so be it if not then i would not worry.If Levy is not careful all he says he wants for our club could disappear by not keeping us in the hunt with the villas …

  6. i like zokora's attitude but all in all, the money we are getting - if the 8.65 million is correct - makes it a great deal.

  8. diego capel is not yet ready to play regularly in La Liga much less the PL. He struggled to get into the Seville side this season and only boosted his games because of Seville's limited options on the left, a lot of his games were as sub
    How anyone who's watched him this season could want him at Spurs is beyond me

    Maybe you need to write blog on what blogging is all about, not that it will do any good.

    Capel would have been a great signing but he would never come to us. And for that stain that said that only Ramos was interested.... grow up why don't you?

    The player is class and any manager would be interested in signing him up.

  11. Have u watched Capel this season?

    He has not been so effective for Sevilla this season, a case of one season wonder i feel. He is still young but has not been on form at all especially considering the hype. I would of prefered the 7+mil we got as I dont think Capel would add that sort of value to the success of spurs.
  12. Is this the same Capel that couldn't make a poor Spanish under 21 side in the summer, and had his backside perched on the bench?

    He is just another name in the long list of mediocre players linked with us...
  13. there were games when he closed down good players ,ronaldo.and others so he had his moments.etc yeh he missed a beauty in the carling final but he had heart for the club....
