Do We Need Jenas?

The Sun and other media sources have stated that we have made another bid for the Newcastle midfielder.

Reports state that Daniel Levy has made an £8.5 million bid to Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd, but the bid was rejected out-right.

Newcastle have slapped a £15 million price tag on Jenas head. We have asked our sources continuously these past few days in order to see if these stories linking us with Jenas are true.

We have been informed by all three of our sources that we are actually in for Jermaine Jenas. We received no details on the amount bid by Levy though.

Whether or not we will reach an agreement with them is another thing altogether.

In my opinion, I feel that we do not need Jenas. If he was to arrive at our club for a more modest fee of say £6 million, then I would say that was good business.

We already have the largest squad of midfielders in the Premiership that already include England international Michael Carrick, Edgar 'The Pitbull' Davids, international midfielders Pedro Mendes and Teemu Tainio along with Sean Davis, Michael Brown, and newcomer Tom Huddlestone.

Where would Jenas fit into all of this? Why are Martin Jol and Daniel Levy so adamant in getting this midfielder?

My personal opinion is that he would definitely not offer anything new to our squad. It's not like he scores goals, or makes many assists, so why? Why are we interested?

We, like many other unofficial sites were told a few weeks ago that Brown and Davis were sure to leave the club. Nothing has materialsed though.

I guess we will have to wait and see.
