Andy Johnson Will NOT Be Coming To Spurs

We are pleased to announce that Crystal Palace's prolific penalty scorer Andy Johnson will be staying at the Championship club after signing a new and improved 5-year contract and so will NOT be joining Spurs or any other club for £7 million.

That is the best news we have heard all week as it squashes all the rumours of him joining us.

We can also confirm that Edgar Davids transfer to Spurs will be finalised this week.

Davids spoke to some of the players and informed them that he will be in the side come the start of the new Premiership season.

Also on the cards is a move for Feyenoord's striker, Dirk Kuyt, but not for the time being. Jol has stated that he would be interested in the large young striker, but not yet as he has four fine strikers.

Expect Kuyt to sign either in the January transfer window, or at the end of the 05/06 season.

    1. When will Davids be unveiled?
    2. Is there any truth in the Van der Meyed story - if there is, whats the story? Bid accepted? Turned us down? Refused to meet wage demands? etc etc
    3. Do we have any further transfer targets this summer or is the spending over?

    The news is that Levy wants to put Spurs on the Map with a club record signing of an up and coming player.

    No news on names, but people keep mentioning the fact that the big signing will come from Spain?

  47. Morning guys. I am not in the least bit worried about Davids. I reckon he is coming. As for the rumours about strikers; I look at our four and see Defoe - England International and quality. I see Mido - starting to look absolutely top class. I see Fredi - languid in appearance, but incredibly talented. and Robbie - at 25 Irelands highest scorer ever by some margin. Is Michael Owen better than what we have? Dirk Kuyt is good, but unless we sell someone, then he is not going to come in.
    As for the Edman story; why would yer man come to a match with a view to buying a player who wasn't even playing?

  105. Why do people keep talking about a replacement right back. Salteri is a class act who will do well in the prem. Kelly and Ifil to cover. Sounds pretty strong to me. At left back I do like Erik and I think he should be given a season to fully settle in (without the disaster of Atouba in his way) but would not mind Wayne Bridge if available!!

    I am liking the idea of Kuyt coming. Has the makings of a spurs legend (dutch, tall and good eye for goal). Must represent a better option than the hit and miss of Kanoute.

    now then, if we look at our current side, i can only think of 5 players who would actually get into the side from the past decade, the playewrs being... Klinsmann, Ginola, Campbell, Sheringham, and Anderton (when fit) thats pretty good going, now if we look at that, all we need is a left winger, a great def to play with king permently, and a striker who is consistent, heads the ball and sets up other ala a klinsmann or sheringham (although totally different players either sort would work) any ideas on how this kuyt chap plays?

  190. Why do people still go on about Andy Reid being fat? He is chunky, yes, but he is also very fit, and he also has one of the sweetest left feet I have seen. In an era when the leagues are craving left footed players, we have three who are excellent in Ziegler, Reid and Davids (in my opinion he has signed already, and the only thing we are waiting for is the announcement of the signing) We have so many options at the moment, and I think that Big Mart is going to take us all the way into the top 4.

  192. Big J - Only saw him against 'borough on channel 5 but looked very very good. Linked up well with their other forward though so will say whoever we sign is better!

    Saw AVDM in the Milan derby, came on as a sub and was useless. Shouldn't judge on 10 mins or 1 game though and am happy to trust the big man...

  198. I reckon that the supposed big name signing could be Guily from Barcelona, while they (Barcelona) were contemplating signing Baptista.

    Whether Guily would have joined spurs is another thing but as Baptista is set to join Real Madrid Barcelona are having second thoughts on selling so we wont be signing him, Spurs were only enquiring about his avaliability and had positive signs from Barcelona about a selling, so a big name this summer apart from Edgar Davids is unlikely.

    Don't expect a huge unvailling of Davids either.
