Spurs taking interest in striker Ahmed Musa again

It is no secret Tottenham are searching for strikers, one sooner in January if possible, one later next summer if the club decide to and can offload Roberto Soldado at a decent price.

Spurs taking interest in striker Ahmed Musa again

They have put in an offer for 17-year-old Argentinian Ezequiel Ponce of Newell's Old Boys, are interested in 18-year-old fellow Argentinian Sebastian Driussi of River Plate. WBA 21-year-old striker Saido Berahino is massively overpriced with quotes of £25 million. Spurs are reportedly willing to offer £10 million which shows the £23.5 million it has been suggested Liverpool have offered is rubbish.

Tottenham scouts have continued to watch a player Spurs tried to sign three years ago, Ahmed Musa, but whether we will go back in for him again is unclear at this stage.

As a 16-years-old, he broke a 20 year record in the Nigerian Premier League by scoring 18 goals in one league season. He secured a move to VVV Venlo in Holland scoring 10 goals in 42 appearances before Tottenham tried to buy him but he went to Russia. He has since scored 33 goals in 109 games, this season netting 7 in 17 games.

He has pace and an excellent acceleration that takes him away from defenders, he has dribbling ability but his first touch needs work. He is more of a winger than a striker and would have to develop new skills to fit in with Pochettino's preferred style with wide men. Musa does not cut inside much and that is a requirement at Tottenham so the full-back can overlap providing width.

Having said that he has played 11 games centrally this season, has learnt to cut inside a bit more and been working on his close control. He remains weak in the air and is frustratingly caught offside far too much, like Emmanuel Adebayor who is often offside because he has been strolling back instead of getting onside first incase we win the ball back.

We are showing interest as his contract runs out in 2016 but showing interest and actually trying to sign someone are two completely different worlds.
