3 more games for MacKenzie, that's 9 in 4 days

Rob MacKenzie is certainly a busy bee at the moment doing the groundwork for formulating our transfer strategy for the upcoming two windows, (winter and summer).

Having taken in 6 games over Friday, Saturday and Sunday in various countries today he takes on 3 more games.

Today = 3 games involving travel through 4 different countries. Tiring but vital to maintain up to date points of reference for comparisons!

We had a scout at the Waregem vs Anderlecht game on Sunday which presumably was MacKenzie. He saw Leye get sent off for Waregem when they were 1-0 down after 45 minutes. Anderlecht scored from the resulting penalty to end the tie as a contest. How players react in that position is just as important and how they react when a game is 0-0 so there would still be plenty to learn.

We may well have been watching more than one player, but one we will be taking note of, although he didn't start, is Youri Tielemans. Chelsea sent their top scout to see him, Everton, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven (both Holland), AS Monaco (France), Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund, Werder Bremen, Wolfsburg (all Germany), Inter Milan (Italy) sent scouts to the game report Voetbal Nieuws

For those unaware he is the Sporting Director at Sevilla having build them from a poverty stricken club 10 years ago to one making money in the transfer market and winning trophies.

Our scouting network is vital, they are the ones who do all the behind the scenes work before we buy players, thus where they are and who they are watching can give us an idea as to the positions we are looking to fill. That in turn tells us who is vulnerable within the squad. Having said that a look at the Monchi model reveals that work needs to be done as a matter of course anyway, we should always be looking at ways of improving the side or replacing anyone within it.
