Vlad Chiriches out for 6 weeks
Vlad Chiriches out for another 6 weeks
Vlad Chiriches back injury is worse than at first feared and he could be out for 6 weeks.

That is bad news for some fans while others won't be too disappointed as long as Younes Baboul can provide cover to first choice pairing Michael Dawson and Jan Vertonghen.

Chiriches divides opinion among Spurs fans, there are those who ignore or simply don't see he multitude of mistakes and then there are those that do and see the negative affect it has on the rest of the defence.

Kaboul seems to be forever on the way back from injury and never quite there, it will be a fingers crossed period for Tim Sherwood and Tottenham who might again have to resort to Etienne Capoue as a centre-half, unless Sherwood has another youngster up his sleeve.

Whilst on the subject of centre-halves Jan Vertonghen is expected to be offered a new contract before the season is out. He has been a huge hit with the Spurs fans slotting in straight away and Daniel Levy will not want the chance of another club poaching him this summer.

Jan Vertonghen best in the League says Sherwood
Thought to be on in the region of £40,000 a week a £60,000 new deal looks to be on the cards. He was signed in 2012 on a 4 year contract with, it is believed, an option for a fifth year. Levy is never afraid to tie down quality players to long term deals so it's doubtful he would leave it until the summer before instigating negotiations.

He was purchased for £9.6 million from Ajax and would command double that fee now after impressing in the Premier League. Tim Sherwood rates him as the best left-sided centre-back in the league so it is no surprise that he has attracted the interest of Barcelona and AC Milan.
