"Arsenal must learn to win ugly" - I've heard that before
1 min read
Another year, and another Arsenal player has come to the forefront with a comment of how Arsenal need to learn to play ugly.
Sound familiar? Believe it or not Theo Walcott's latest statement isn't the first time an Arsenal player has said exactly the same thing.
Emmanuel Adebayor in August 2008 said the same thing! He saw no change and so jumped ship (or is about to).
In November 2007, England International wanabe, Manuel Almunia, said the same thing.
There seems to be trend setting it. Arsenal simply can't play ugly. They may play fantastic football, but when it comes to getting their shirts dirty, they haven't got a hope in hell.
I expect them to have another trophyless laiden season and cannot see Cesc Fabregas playing for them in the 2010/2011 season.
With Manchester City now Arsenal's greatest rival, they may have to learn how to play ugly and learn quickly, for without a Champions League revenue stream, they may be in a spot of bother

There's only so much you can write about the 439 players linked with us.
When I saw the Theo Walcott line this morning, I laughed my head off as I was sure other Arsenal players had said something similar, hence the article.
I will be discussing other teams on this blog.
Jaymes
Their stadium is rarely full, go get yourself a season ticket and leave Spurs fans to write here.
My assumption that Fabregas won't be there at the end of this season is shared by a great many people.
Advice: NEVER defend your own article - the importance and significance of any article on the internet is measured by the number of comments after it. Just let them rant! COYS
They are still better than us. Just pathetic that this goes on a spurs blog when we should be more concerned with out own team."
Hello Gooner
All the rest of you, we hear it year in year out how this is going to e the year we drop out of the top four or this is the year Spurs catch us. All good, I hope that gives you hope, let's chat at the same time next year when you will probably be saying exactly the same thing.
Really?
Last sason we finished ahead of you by 21 points. Our goal differential was superior to yours by 31 goals.
The season before we finished ahead of you by 40 points! Our goal differential was superior to yours by 38 goals.
To put that into pespective, you only finished 35 points ahead of Derby County, the worst Premiership team ever. That means you can be better compared to that Derby team than you can the mighty Arsenal.
Or how about we compare the last 5 seasons, including your magical "we would have had 4th if not for lasagne" season.
Over the last seasons, Spurs have beaten their PL opponents by a combined 29 goals, while Arsenal have beaten theirs by a combined 190 goals! That's over 6 times better!
In other words, YOU ARE NOWHERE NEAR US; STOP PRETENDING YOU ARE!
We are currently having what you refer to as our "rough patch," and we are still infinitely better than you.
Worry about West Ham a…
Fecking gypsie need jog on back to Woolwich. You can drop that myth about never being relegated aswell because you were in 1913 the following season you dropped the woolwich in your name thieving coniving fcuksticks even conned your place into the league with bribes and anti semitism but sure you go ahead grow tell your grandkids WOW in the year 2007/08 we qualified for the champs league, yeah and?
Yeah exactly no cup glory at the new Wembley not a fucking thing to actually boast about wheres the medals you cock knockers exactly now like Fabregas next season fuck off.
arsenal were formed by some workers in an armaments factory in south london 1886.
early game s included against spurs at tottenham marshes 1887 we won! 2-1!!
afer a while calling themselves royal arsenal,
had connections with notts forest who donated shirts so were red .....first home games at plumstead common and then a small stadium at
plumstead,around 1913 they
moved to highbury.tottenham protestd after the first world war the arsenal were voted in to the 1st division....
dodgy dealings and influnce
over spurs who were 20th prior to the war were relegated.....hence the early beginnings of pissing us of
Jaymes - its your blog, write what you want, don't rise to the baiters.
They're still the original crazy gang for me, just didn't move quite as far north as the 2nd lot of South London nomads. Playing ugly is part of their heritage.
in the tottenham area......in fact .....
Fuck off back to Middlesex.
The guy who said Arsenal was in N London before Spurs was clearly joking.
We are aware of and proud of our history; it shits on yours. Just think, had we never interloped, Spurs could be a proper club nowdays rather than a punchline to jokes about delusions of grandeur.
You're so consumed with getting one-up on Arsenal that you made a DVD of a Carling Cup match and would like to sign a one-legged and 4 years past his prime Patrick Vieira.
Your black and white double means nothing to us considering we've since won the league TWICE at your ground.
The July 18, 4:18 PM post in this thread shows you exactly how far behind Arsenal you currently are.
P.S. Arsenal supporters came here by way of a Newsnow feed, not their bookmarks.
As much as you'd like to believe we are consumed by you like you're consumed by us, it's simply not the case.
Have a good month telling …
Middlesex.
When football resumed in 1919, the First Division was expanded from 20 to 22 teams. The Football League extended one of the additional places to 19th-place Chelsea (who would have been relegated with Spurs for the 1915–1916 season) and the other to Arsenal. This promotion - Arsenal had finished only SIXTH! in Division 2 the previous season - was controversial, and cemented a bitter rivalry (begun six years earlier, with Arsenal's relocation to Tottenham's hinterland) just down the road.!!that continues to this day.
