What's wrong with Dawson?

With the news that Bassong may be on his way to The Lane, the real question we should be asking is if another centre-back is needed?

I thought Michael Dawson's displays last season could have even merited him a place in the England team.

Hasn't the lad proved himself enough?

Is Bassong a better player? To be honest, I've not seen enough of the lad to comment, but I have see Dawson throw himself into countless challenges for the cause.

Do we need another centre-back?

  1. Bassong was the one player who stood out for me when we played them in April. I imagine he'll fill in for Ledley when he can't play so yes, I do think we need another defender. Competition is important. Don't forget Woodgate (who should be our captain imo) used to be very injury prone too.

  2. We definatly need another central defender. King will slowly get worse & Woodgate has his fair amount of days off due to injuries.

    Dawson will get his place. So will Bassong

There is only one player i would buy haggerland 6ft5 he would be taller than gomes and protect us from corners and free kicks .Dont count city out yet they havent bought a defence yet woodgate could be gone and dawson .the game has changed and spurs should keep there momey in the bank and the players we have. Teams will be in finacial meltdown sunderland utd villa liverpool pompy if any one chases city for the top 4
  4. Nothing wrong with Dawson. Just more cover, rather then having to shift midfielders or right backs into the center back position
  5. Dawson cannot take us where we want to go. He's got a lot of heart and I like the lad, but his composure and decision-making skills are atrocious. We need someone else to cover for Ledders and Woody.
  6. I agree with The Fox, Dawson is a great lad but not a champs league defender and thats what we need. Not sure Bassong is the answer tho, I would never defender from relegated clubs! COYS!
  7. Dawson is good cover for Woodgate (Woodgate, the bloke that has said HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE CAPTAIN!!) Bassong would be cover for Leds, he'd get a fair few games nad have little to complain about, the guy just needs to realise we're not going to pay silly wages because, unlike Newcastle, we are financialy sensible.
  8. oh, and yes Dawson isn't a Champions league defender...but we're not a Champions league club so if doesn't f'ing matter!!
  9. Given some international experience and another year under HR, why couldn't Daws be a Champs league defender? He has some fantastic performances, some average....had an off season 07/08.

  11. Exactly my point! I really don't think Basson is any better than what we currently have at The Lane. Therefore, why pursue him?
  12. Much as it pains me to say it. Spurs will soon have to make a decision on Ledley, so i think its fair enough to be in for a new centreback. This is because i really rate Corluka at rightback. Part of the reason Lennon improved imho is he had a defender behind him prepared to defend.I really dont think Lennon needs an overlapping fullback getting in his way. Getting back to the theme of the article, i think Daws is the nuts but with Ledley playing alternate games i think we need one more. COYS
  13. Dawson was awesome- when came in for cover. In truth on form he should never of been dropped. Hands up I got it wrong about him; felt his lack of pace and nervyness and under leds shadow would mean he had no future at Lane. Yet if continue his form: he will replace Leds or Woodgate this year.Need a good young potential- what's wrong with blooding Dervitte?
