Opening Day Coverage

Spurs season ticket holder & new THBN columnist, Chris Rowning, will be at the game against Boro today and will be reporting on our opening day exploits (via his Blackberry).

We've read (as I am sure have most of you) that Berbatov has handed in a transfer request.

If Dimi does start for us today, then I can't see the story the Sun published as being accurate. After all, why play a player that clearly doesn't want to play for you?

What I do feel is true, is that Arshavin will sign for us soon, therefore allowing Berbatov to move to Old Trafford.

I do think that it's 'when' and not 'if' Berbatov will leave Tottenham Hotspur.

When Dimi leaves, we'll definitely need another striker in though as Pekhart surely isn't ready for first-team action.

I would personally like us to bid for Blackburn's Roque Santa Cruz. He's 27, well built, has proven Premier League experience and class and would cost around £17 million.

Good riddance Berbatov that's all i can say.He's been a class player for us but as soon as someone wants to play elsewhere then there's no point in keeping them.I personally think it's great that he's been forced into handing in a transfer request, waiving his right to 10% of the transfer fee, which we'll be able to put towards other signings. Is this Levy at his shrewd best or what.

  3. Santa Cruz is massively overrated, he was shit for years and then had one good season at Blackburn.

  4. He didnt get it in business he got it in philosphy. Cambridge dont do a business degree but they do do economics.

I have not been a fan of Levy.The Jol fracas soured me.However,I am very impressed that he made Berbatov put in for a transfer and saved the club close to 3 million pounds.I remember when the total cost of the Spurs side was 120 pounds signing on fee.It seems that as the costs of players accelerate, the loyalty of the players decreases in direct proportion.
