Hudd for Defensive Midfield Role
Article by Jesse Johnstone
Thus far, our summer signings have consisted of Luka Modric, a central midfilelder who doesn't hold back when it comes to the flair side of his game. We have also signed Giovani dos Santos, an up and coming individual talent, who, to be honest, I know nothing about, other than what I read about in the papers. But from what I have read, it looks as though our new Mexican youngster can play either on the wing (most probably the left wing as he's left footed), just in behind the strikers or as a striker. We're also apparently awaiting the work-permit from the DoE for Heurelho da Silva Gomes, our new keeper.

It seems as though we are close to signing David Bentley too. All in all, we've signed a keeper, and two attacking midfielders, with apparently one on the way.
I thought that our problem last season wasn't putting the ball in the net, but actually trying to keep the ball out of it.
No matter what anyone says, we miss Michael Carrick. We miss him terribly. I personally have been waiting for us to be linked with a central defender who can act as cover for Ledder's when he's unfit and a central midfield enforcer. Someone who can sit in front of the back four, break up play, spread long passes and occasionally have a crack at goal.
After reading that "The Hudd" had signed a new 5-year deal with the club, it suddenly dawned on me; we have the midfield enforcer right here! Tom Huddlestone in my opinion, can become not just a great player, but a superb one. His vision, passing skills, and his ability to hold up the ball make him the prime candidate for a central midfield role.
I honestly thought that he would be one of the players shown the door. It seems as though Juande Ramos has other ideas. You don't tell your Director of Football/Board that you want them to offer a new and improved 5-year contract to a player, unless you plan on using him.
I feel that Huddlestone can become the type of player that we've lacked since the departure of Carrick. If all the reports are true, then we could be looking at a midfield of;
Giovani - Modric - Huddlestone - Bentley/Lennon
If the players can gel, then we're talking about a midfield that will surely rival any that is in the top four.

He's built like a brick shit house!
I really think that he'll be a regular for us this season and may even get into the Italian's first team plans.
COYS!!!
Its the job of Comolli to make sure all the young players are tied to long contracts. This way, we can always sell them on and not loss them on bosman deals.
Get your facts right!
I have always thought that Huddlestone was a Ramos player. All he needed to do was to lose the excess weight that he carried. He really adapted well to the Spaniard when he joined the club, losing weight really quickly.
Come on the Hudd!!!
With Hudd & O'Hara we'll be ok with the defensive midfielder role.
Get shot of Zoroka and make me happy, Jaunde
Especially considering that there is interest from other Premiership teams?
It was the post above yours.
I'm smooth like that.
If anyone has anything of interest to say, why don't you write it down and email your own article. If it's any good, we'll publish it.
Just email it to THBN.articles@gmail.com

Clubs prefer longer contracts as it adds value if/when a player is disposed of. Very few players expect guaranteed first team action; Thudd knows this and will understand there is/should be competition for places.
I've not laughed this much in ages.
Why don't you leave your names when commenting, at least we know who we're replying to?
Is that so? If you think you can do better, please, go ahead.
Next time you feel the urge to slate someone else's article (the article is from an external source that was submitted to THBN), please ask yourself;
Am I man/woman enough to write an article of any sense?
If you are, you know what to do.
In the meantime, stop jerking off and do something productive.
Kind regards

he is not what i am looking for in a dm role, and has been used more as a creative impact sub.
from a dm role in the modern day game is someone that breaks up play, is positionally excellent and keeps it relatively simple, the best example was makellele. there are exceptions such as carrick who can play a pass, but generally these are cross field pass but simple effective balls to the right ppl at the right time.
hudd could become v.gd in this position if he is taught well, alot is due to reading the game and being in the right place rather than being the best tackler.
therefore i think we should buy an experienced player in their 30s who has afew more years left and hudd can learn from him. gutussso is the perfect man. this would also add some much needed leadership to a young midfield. you need a balance
Ramos: Pls rewrite history
COYS
The Manager must be at the centre of everything to do with the payers and he would never give Hudd a 5yr deal if he wasnt a big fixture in his plans.
I'm delighted about this as ive always admired Hudd. Him and Modric can become a great partnership with their amazing passing range.
