"Arshavin has agreed personal terms with Spurs" - Says his agent

Andrei Arshavin's agent Dennis Lachter, has just announced in a telephone interview on talkSPORT that his client, Andrei Arshavin, has agreed personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur.

"The only stumbling block though, is Andrei's current club, Zenit. They are financially very stable and do not need to sell Andrei to raise funds.

"Due to this, they are asking for more than is required, which is troubling my client". - Commented Lachter in the interview.

When asked why Arshavin was allowed to speak to Tottenham Hotspur, even before the two clubs had agreed a fee, Lachter went onto add;

"A preliminary fee was agreed, which allowed Andrei to speak with Tottenham Hotspur. After discussing his terms with the club, Andrei was very happy and told me that Tottenham are the club he wants to play for.

"Unfortunately, Zenit increased their valuation of him, which has caused a bit of a problem between the two clubs".

Lachter also added that "I have had many conversations with Juande [Ramos], even before he became manager of Tottenham Hotspur, about Andrei.

"Andrei is a player that Juande has liked for many years now".

So there you have it! Hopefully his club, Zenit, can stop messing around and make a compromise regarding the fee they want.

  1. I just heard that interview too. His agent sounds really down or just plain angry at Zenith.

    They will have to allow him to join us as they don't want a player on their hands that doesn't want to be there.

    He also said that there is a club from Spain and Italy that are also interested.

    I can see us signing him tbh.

    I am a Sevilla fan and a Manchester United fan. I can tell you that Juande has wanted Andrei for at least 3 seasons now. He made an offer 2 seasons ago, but his club reject it. Juande again made a bid 4 months before joining Tottenham Hotspur, but again it was rejected.

    One thing you must know about Juande, is that he is very stubborn and persistant. He will get him in the end.

    He is a very good player that will be very good for you.

    I cannot understand why Manchester United do not want him?
  7. Arshavin is poor and overrated. Our team will never gel with all these new signings. We are too lightweight, our defence is abysmal and Levy is a joke. 10th is the best we can hope for IMO and teams like Newcastle and Fulham will push ahead of us into the top 8.

  9. My optimism of signing Arshavin has now risen from .001% to 10%, it'd be incredible if they can pull it off.

  11. Dear Sir Yid - lighten up. We strengthened the defence with Woody and Hutton in Jan, plus we will have King and Bale back and fit again. We now have a keeper who wants to dominate his box and will give the defence some confidence. On top of that we look like we will have some real pace and flair. I would agree that signing a defensive midfielder with real presence is needed, but there we are in much better shape than last year and certainly than some of the clubs you mention. Perhaps you are really a deluded barcodes fan
  12. Would love to see Albelda sign 1.5ml must be worth it plus Veloso.They could be are holding players and would destroy other teams with Modric Capel Santos and Bent doing the killing up front .Fast and furious and are defence would be protected!!!Get it sorted Mr Levy.
  13. Ok everybody slow down a little here, this is just a ploy by his agent to get more clubs bidding for him. I guarentee that Arshavin will be playing in the champions league next season.

  15. Someone said this previously in another article, but if we sign Bentley and Arshavin, we will be watching fantasy football next season guys.

  16. For DM, Albelda is a must, perhaps also Moutinho or De Jong, both of whom are better than Veloso, and would cost 10-12m less.
  17. Agree with 8.44 - Smells like a ploy to get other clubs to panic bid. That's not to say it's not true, it just means we haven't got him in the bag yet. It'd be a good signing if it happens. All those spurs fans who says we're rating him by a couple of performances, well maybe that is the case...but the fact remains that Ramos has obviously been tracking him for awhile, and we've been tracking him even before he came to prominence in the euro qualifiers. If the scouts are happy and the manager is happy then that would obviously indicate those few performances we've seen are typical of the player.
  18. Zenit have a very strange way of doing business IMHO - Arshavin is a very good player who should do well at Tottenham as long as they have someone to score from his crosses - hopefully common sense will prevailn the egotiatios

Serioulsy Sir yid and any other doubters of arshavins quality, go to you tube trust me, the man is awesome, so comfortable on the ball theres one goal on there where outside of the boot as if it was nothinng he lobbed the keeper from about 40 yards, And people say he is overrated, he is one f the most technically gifted players i have ever seen, He certainly knows where the goal is AND he can dribble with the ball, When was the last time we had a striker confident enough to do that, trust me he is awesome..
