Jose in for Jol?
By Costas Georgiou
I'll start off this article by setting the record straight; I am part of the 'Jol-Out Movement'. I am sick and tired of hiding behind the fact that Martin Jol is a nice guy with a big heart. That maybe so, but being nice doesn't get you results. Being the boss does. Replacing players when they're not performing does. Being tactically astute does.
One man that has all the above characteristics is Jose Mourinho. For me, Mourinho is the type of manager Spurs need if they really are realistic about winning things.
Fact: Jose Mourinho has won things with Porto (Champions League for instance) and Chelsea. He is a born winner. I would like anyone to challenge me into saying he's not, or that "he's only won things at Chelsea due to their superior investment in playing staff".
Now that I have got that off my chest, I come to the title of this article; Jose in for Jol?
It's a no-brainer isn't it? Who wouldn't like Mourinho to replace Jol? Even the three Pro-Jol campaigners here at THBN (unfortunately, I am not authorised to tell you who they are) would be hard pressed to find reasons why they wouldn't want the 'Special One' to replace Martin Jol.
I hope Mr. Levy and the gang forget this Ramos business and turn their balding heads toward Belgrave Square, the residence of the Mourinho household.
I do see a snag in this whole business though. Chelsea, like Spurs, have a Sporting Director. In fact, they have two; one they nicked from us and the other one they nicked from Portsmouth.
I am sure Mourinho would welcome a move to Spurs, as it means his family, who are now fully settled in London, won't need to be uprooted. I am also sure that any move for Jose would rely on him being the main man at the club; meaning there would be no one above him, such as Damien Comolli, signing players.
Daniel Levy will have to prepare Mr. Comolli's P45 in a jiffy if any deal with the Portuguese manager is to happen.
PS. Please prepare Mr. Jol's P45 too.

It is a no-brainer.
I just hope Levy and the rest of the numpty's on our board are already on the case.
Jol needs to go. The guy has said that Berbatov is a slow starter...maybe he should look at himself before making remarks like that.
We can't keep people like Jol on the books just because they are nice guy's and have got us 2 top 5 finishes. That was history. We live in the present and need a manager that will drive us firmly into the future. Jose is that man.

I think we should keep Jol, we haven't started great but i thik you will see us in the top 5 which i understand we want top 4 and also near some trophies and maybe even winning the UEFA Cup!!!
Chelsea will be another Hearts.

Jol is no manager, he's got one of the best squads in the league but can't do anything with it.
We need a manager of Jose's pedigree, someone who's been there and got the t-shirt.
Personally I would be hesitant to cry out for Jose to come to WHL but that said I also don't think Ramos is the answer!
Jose and Jol are big buddies. Can't see the (cough) hounourable Mr Mourinho being part of the gang that kick's Jol out. Or he won't want to be seen to be anyway.
Doesn't stop Spurs kicking him out and then hoping they can get Jose afterwards. Bet that'll go tits up though.
Have you seen who they have picked as their new boss. Ha Ha Ha...
John Terry and Frank Lampard to Barcelona in January me thinks!!
Someone said Chelsea are the new Hearts. Lets hope they are the new Leeds.
No other manager before Jol has had even near so strong squad and no one has had so much cash to burn to make it even stronger.
So you can't compare the results wit the managers before, instead you have to ask if somebody would have got even better results with given players.
Would somebody?
I for one think it's inevitable Jol will go, it's such a shame that all the positivity in pre-season (barr the left wing issues, which GBALE has done wonders on helping to resolve) has disentegrated, we were all so positive in pre-season, and now everything is so negative, from the Defoe stuff, King being injured, the confidence seems shot, Robinson has completely lost it, and our star men appear to be Steed Malbranque (a star man for any mid-table team, but an average player for a team who is in europe hoping to progress to the champions league) and…
....and both times we should have finished 4th. Inept starts for the last 3 seasons & losing/drawing with teams that we should stuff, have stopped us getting higher. We shoudn't be starting challenging we should be there already, being challenged.
THAT was HOW porto won the cup
There is no way in the world Jose would come to Spurs. We approached him before he went to Chelsea and we were knocked back then, why would he now come to us after winning the title twice with them.
He will end up with some top European club that already have regular CL football. He rates himself way too special to come here.
Some of the people who say "Yes, lets get him" are the same people who two days ago said "Lets get Ramos" or "Lets get Klinsman" or even "Lets get Hoddle back". I wonder who will it be next week?
Our board are too amateur to get something like this right mid season, and losing Jol without a replacement in place is a non starter, or have everyone forgotten that season with Pleat in charge?
Sacking Graham a week before a cup semi final. Sacking Hoddle after allowing him to mismanage the summer transfer window. Letting…
I'll admit Jose is a very good manager, but don't we want to win with style and flair? I hear he has left Chelsea because the money men wanted to see exciting football not boring stale matches...
He spent shed loads at Porto to bring in the likes of Valente, Derlei,Paulo Ferreira, Manichi, jankauskas, manuel,
As for Chelsea we all know how much he spent there and stil failed to get to a European cup final,
Why do we feel he would come in and do whats best for Tottenham Hotspur and not whats bes fot Jose?
Hahahahaa
Mourinho is the type of guy that likes a challenge. Trust me, managing Tottenham Hotspur is a challenge!
He get's to remain in London and manage a club that offers many challenges. That's why he is a real candidate.

He'd be the only person i'd rather have at Spurs

I suspect that Jose will take a while to consider his position and weigh up his options. He can afford to take his time and money wont be the deciding issue for him. He is settled in London, enjoying his new Belgravia home, his children enjoying the start of a new academic year. These things are very important to him.
For these reasons I think that Spurs have as good a chance as anyone to entice Jose. One thing for sure though. Comoli would have to go. That would be part of the package. Jose has already been a victim of 'upstairs' shennanigans, he wouldnt countainance a move to the present set up. I am a season ticket holder at Spurs - I'll be there cheering tonight. I love Jol. But he has been seriously and fatally undermined. I fear that he wont get the best out of the players now. Particularily a player like Berbatov that appears to need a magic switch.(or a kick up the backside). No doubt, J…
The board have spoken about being ambitious, well now is the time to prove it by getting Mourinho and letting the two faced fat man leave.
THAT WOULD BE A COUP!
SACK JOL HIS NOT GOOD ENOUGH
I go to Tottenham to see stylish swashbuckling football, and even though results haven't gone our way, we have been playing some good stuff. I would hate for us to go back to the days of George Graham styled football (I went to 2 games in that era and refused to go anymore...Even with a Mickey Mouse Cup win, it was dreadful...)
Does anyone really want Arsenal to have the monopoly on a stylish brand of football, whilst we are stuck grinding out a dull 1-0 at home to the likes of Wigan?
Here are 10 reasons why Jol should go:
1) Team unable to keep a clean sheet
2) We look as if we are going to concede at every set piece but rarely look like scoring from them.
3) He stands by Robinson despite an alarming drop of form over the last 18 months and an inability to make deal with crosses
4) He always picks Jenas - a decent enough player but who doesn't fit in a team playing 4-4-2 with two attacking wide men.
5) He lets Jenas take set pieces despite his terrible delivery
6) The team appear to lack stamina and always fade as the game goes on and concede late goals
7) The lack of a quality central midfielder despite the money spent
8) Left back / left midfield - although Bale will become a great player for Spurs he can only fill one position and is only just 18.
Lee is a decent…
Come to Spurs Jose, we'll make you welcome & Thanks Martin - We appreciate what you've done for us.
Looking forward to an exciting new (trophy filled) era at the Lane.

Jose's brand of football is boring to the extreme.
Do we really want a George Graham mark 2 as manager..??
People like Poshwank will be the first to bemoan the manager when they realise its hard to stay awake during games and we only get gates of 20,000 for europe and cup matches.
But hey I guess any passing bandwagon will do for these numpties
First I was afraid, I was petrified
Kept thinking I could never turn Spurs into a top 4 side
But I spent oh so many nights thinking how Staltari did me wrong
Perhaps I'm wrong??, but I'll just have to carry on
and we'll be back, into 5th place
I'll just wait till the transfer window to sign another waste of
space
I should have sold Paul Robinson, I should have dropped him from the
team
If I had known for just one second he'd concede more goals than Derby
Coun-ty
Go on now go, Bent there's the door
just turn around now, 'cause you don't score goals anymore
weren't you the one that cost more than Thierry Henry, I knew you'd
crumble, I'd rather have Emile Hes-key,,,,
Oh no cause I, I will survive
As long as I win the next 6 games I know I will stay alive,
I've got Tainio who is shat, & Huddlestone who's just fat, but I'll
survive
I will survive..
It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
kept trying hard to mend Defo…
"I will Survive" though is genius. Pure genius.
Standing ovation from the Canuck Spurs Fan Club (of which I am, as far as I know, the only member).
