Why is the Media Intent on Selling Tottenham's Best Players?

For some time now, the media has played a key part in football; on and off the field.

Agent's have always been leaking stories to the tabloids. In turn, the papers release articles about the player in question. The higher the profile of the player, the more papers the article appears in.

Tottenham Hotspur seem to be one of the clubs that are constantly in the papers. Spurs are either 'selling their best player', or 'are about to make an audacious bid' for a world-class individual.

It seems the media vultures are circulating around the departure of Dimitar Berbatov, Tottenham's prolific striker; a player that scored 23 goals in all competitions within his first season.

Manchester United are the likely candidates the media agents have targeted as Berbatov's new club. Today, I have personally read more than three articles, claiming that Jermaine Jenas has stated that Tottenham Hotspur would show a serious lack of ambition if they were to sell Berbabtov.

I would have thought that was obvious? Only a club with serious financial problems would want to sell their assets. I beg the question, wouldn't it be better for the club, if they banned the players from speaking to the media?

After all, the Berbatov story went away for a week or so until our midfielder spoke to The Sun. It is clearly evident that some big-wig(s) controlling the media mainstream consortium are out to unsettle Tottenham's players, for reasons only they can answer.
