Are Arsenal About To Fold?
Article By Sam Jenkins

The Arsenal cauldron is steadily cooking up a brew of trouble. Reports regarding the departure of Thiery Henry state that he is clearly not happy with the goings on at Arsenal. The media circles have publicised that the France International is dejected with the departure of David Dein.
Henry is close to the Dein family. So close in fact, that Dein’s son was Henry’s best man and is also his professional advisor. It looks as though his advisor has recommended that his client leave Arsenal to better the final part of his career.
When asked about AC Milan’s interest in him, Henry went on to say;
“I am flattered that a team like Milan has shown an interest in me”.
This has alerted both the current champions of Europe, Milan, but also Spanish giants, Barcelona, who so nearly signed him last season.
If the possibility of losing their captain is hard news to swallow, imagine what the Arsenal fans must be thinking when they hear and read reports coming from the Fabregas camp, stating that he’ll also be off if Henry leaves!
Many Arsenal fans are claiming that all these reports are rubbish and nothing more than mere paper talk. They claim that both Henry and Fabregas will be Arsenal players come the start of the season. Fair enough you might say; after all, how many times have the media made an issue out of nothing? But if that was the case, and the media had got it so terribly wrong, why hasn’t Henry or Fabregas come out and rubbished these stories? Why has neither player made a statement clarifying that they are happy at Arsenal? Why is Arsene Wenger keeping quiet about this debacle?
Is the tide about to collapse on Arsenal?
I personally made a little wager with an Arsenal fan that we would finish above them in the 2006/2007 season. We didn’t. I now made the same bet; double-or-nothing, that we’ll finish the 2007/2008 season above them. I think I will be winning the bet this time around.
Tottenham Hotspur are on the up, whilst our neighbours are anything but on the same path as us. What do you think the outcome surrounding Henry will be? Will he leave Arsenal, and if so, will a host of other players leave in his wake?
Any negative news regarding them can only be music to our ears.

Berbatov - Man U????
Carrick - Man U????
Ledley - Chelsea????
Chimbonda - Chelsea????
Lennon - Everyone????
so erm yes... major clubs do want our players as you can see above... difference between spurs and arsenal is all bar 1(carrick, i put on the list as an example of a club pursuing our team) of the above list is still a yid and will be a yid come next season.
Arsenal are a dun force. the french revolution is over and your slipping into mediocracy.
the fact that you are hardly linked to anyone this summer shows this.
COYS
remember what happened to Leeds?
may the demise and decline commence!
How many stories have we heard about our players going and they haven't come out and said anything against any of these rumours either. If it's published on the club website I don't listen to or believe any of it. Personally I d on't see Henry leaving. But I do think we need to get our act together and start buying some players otherwise we may miss out, NANI, ANDERSON, RIBBERY(?)......
hahah - u lot really make me laugh!
i mean, ok we didnt have a great season last season, but by OUR standards - not yours! you only dream of a top 4 finish!
even our "bad" seasons are better than your good ones! hahaha
2-0 and u ####### it up!
Dream on spuds, nice work with the Barca shirt - maybe you ll do one for Berbatov in a United one? Wont that be funny and more realistic! Especially as Sugars taken his £25m and Enic are alot lighter with cash. Looks like you will really need to sell him!! HA HA HA. Let him go for £12m - maybe even West Ham will put in an offer.
Believe the bollocks if you want to, but if you actually heard or read what Henry's actually said in 2 recent interviews (one on internet and another in NOTW) stating that hes staying, looking forward to full recovery and next season campaign (where we ll probably finish above you again).
Even if the unthinkable did happen and he were to go Arsenal are no where near "folding" - great manager, great players, great stadium + investment.
What have you got?
lol
STABILITY!
MONEY!
and a team. BErba aint leaving you know he ain't regardless of the brave face you put on.
seriously now you're really in denial, how can you not say your clubs in turmoil?
look at the facts, look what we're spending and then look at yourselves, while we are making signings to lift us up that 1 extra notch you're doing nothing to improve your team.
The owner of ENIC is a Billionare.
If you lot cant see how much we've closed the gap in just two years you lying to yourselves
leeds mkII
:)
maybe ken bates will come and save you
Your just doing exactly what we said
You know I'm sure I've heard this said before by stupid fucking Spurts fans but I can't think when.......... No I've got it, it's every fucking year for the last 8 years!!!
You shouldn't really take what you read in the papers as being the truth you know (yes I know you all read the Sport and The Sun, so you're not the most intellectually astute people in the world).
Anyway, come the end of next season, feel free to roll out your "Tottenham Hotspur are on the up, whilst our neighbours are anything but on the same path as us." articles.
Pricks!!!

we're talking about the future now not what happened between 1991 and 2004.
your starting to even sound like losers.
thats news to me :|
your a bit of a wanker really aren't you.
the reason why your players are wanted ON THE CONTINENT is because they are all spanish and french africans.
cock jockey.
knobs.
awww boohoo we were without our captain too.
Now THBN please fill us in on your "coming soon news on Snedjer"
you mean once youve read the express etc you can give us an exclusive !
whats it like being 40 and still
I also notice that you're not commenting on those who have committed to the Arsenal...Gilberto and (despite the interpration you've given it) Fabregas. 'I'll probably leave if Wenger goes' is not the sign of a happy player but neither is it a sign he's going to jump ship. Rosicky, Hleb, Adebayor have all committed their futures to the club recently as well.
The biggest point of all would be...is it the end of Arsenals world if Henry does go? We missed him for much of last season and STILL finished comfortably above Spurs. The mooted swap for Eto'o would be a great deal for Arsenal, bringing in a player almost as talented as Henry but with less m…
Augie, you call Spurs fans stupid and then claim that Man Utd and Chelsea are english clubs and not european? Last time i checked England was part of europe which is why our teams play in european competition and we compete for the 'European Championship'.
Doesn't look like either of you are on particularly firm ground to be throwing accusations of stupidity, fools.
Forget Henry – you'd be better off photoshopping the league table because that's the only way you'll finish above us!
Oh by the way, have it on very very good authority that Bent will be at Spurs when he gets back from his holiday next week and Defoe will be off to Pompy.
You make a good point about sorting out the defence...I do think you're amongst it with Arsenal & Man Utd when it comes to exciting, attacking teams, which hasn't been the case for a long time!
However, an 8 point gap is not brought on purely by the games between us...
Rhyle's right, the gap will remain for a few years yet. There isn't any way in the world that AW won't replace him with some big signings as we'll make a pile o' cash on the back of him going. Keep dreaming monkeys!
Almost every season, Arsenal have let go at least one important player, as good as henry, Viera and Berkamp only to name; but we have always finished above you. You are looking for adversity with Arsenal in any corner, are you jalous by the way?
You should do your own things and beat Arsenal if you can instead of expecting our fall, like a "cat following a derby in hope that its ball will fall down, which has never happened".
Arsenal, under AW managment will never fall down, I am affraid Scummmmy! Hahaha..aaaaaaaaaa!
And as for spudz finishing above The Arsenal. Dont make me laugh.
Henry >>> Berbatov (good player wasted at spurs)
RVP >>>>>>>>>>> Defoe (the rat)/Keano (the pikey)
Fabregas + Gilberto >>> Any of your central mids
Toure + Gallas >>> King + Dawson
etc etc etc
The Arsenal had several key players out (Henry, RVP, Gallas, Ljunberg, Rosicky etc etc) for most of the season and we still finished above you.
The only difference next season will be that less injuries to our squad will make the gap bigger.
2005/2006 you only finished above us after we lost to West Ham and had food poisoning, you had an inform Henry that year.
You are the muppet if you can not have a intelligent dialogue (hope thats not too big a word for you) without slinging insults, my boss is a gooner and he can have an intelligent conversation about football.
At least we are being linked to some players Arsenal seem to spend most of the time this year trying to hang on to the players you have got.
Fact we were the fourth highest scoring team, trouble is we let too many in, if we sort that out i am dreaming of challenging more than just Arsenal, face facts you cant challenge the top three anymore and you season is also about finishing higher than spurs. To be honest i dont care where you finish i just want to move to the next level and challenge Chelski and Man U, Arsenal are not even worth worrying about
Ok Darren, lets look at facts:
* Arsenal suffered from terrible injuries to key personnel that cost us points. It would be reasonable to asume our injuries wont be quite as bad next season. Not an excuse but as you say a fact.
* Arsenal have a very young and talented team that are only going to improve with experience. These young players got a lot of exposure last season (as you no doubt saw in the league cup) and will be much better players for it.
* Wenger has never been a chequebook manager. He will never sign established superstars a la Mourinho. The likelihood is that we will sign a few youngsters (that nobody has heard of) that will be in a position to improve out TEAM. Fans like to be linked the Ribery's/Schevchenkos of this world bit its not Arsenes style. How many fans can honestly say that they new who Toure, Eboue, Fabregas, RVP etc were until Wenger made them the players that they are.
* Arsenal have champions league football to offer and look f…
We do though wish to ask;
What are you doing looking at Spurs sites?

THBN Team
Still if you want to live in your own little delusional spud world thats fine by me.
Poor at the back Yes, lack of experiance and in depth cover, Dawson a great player for the Future.
Robinson, same as Lennon tired after the world cup and a long summer, seems only John Terry had a great season the rest of the England players either had a poor season or at the very least a slow start to the season.
Spurs biggest problems small squad and lack of cover and with signings like Gareth Bale confirmed and Wesley Sneijder and Younes Kaboul in the pipeline and 90% of our squad staying is all looking good for next season.
Lets face it Henry will go and any many you get will go to pay of your, and lets be honest fantastic stadium.
You do have some quality players at Arsenal but hardly houshold names like you used to have, and undenieably Wenger is a Genius in the Transfer market with Henry and Viera his best ever signings. But do you realy think Wenger will be there after next Season? Or working …
You make some good points but as an Arsenal fan we have been here before. Players come and player go but the greats can never truly be replaced. We got the best out of Henry (I cant see him going), Vieira, Pires, Bergkamp, Ian Wright etc. But as these players get older or leave for pastures new they cant be replaced like for like. Great managers build great teams over a couple of seasons. Arsene Wenger has done this twice at Arsenal and is on the verge of doing it for the 3rd with some of the exciting young talent we have. Alex Ferguson has done it 3/4 time at Utd. Has Martin Jol got the ability to do this? To be honest I am not sure... I am not saying that he cant but he hasnt never done it before. At this momnet in time I can honestly say that I feel we are in the stronger position.
I know a lot of fans are all doom and gloom if their club dont shell out 50mill on players every season but as I said before this has never been the Wenger way. The worst case scenario for AFC…

He has been with us two Seasons one of wich he didnt start as the manager, i do worry about his tactics sometimes but have the feeling sometimes its more the fact we dont have enough quality players yet, as long as we dont do a Newcastle with knee jerk reactions all the time giving the manager no time to do his Job, they have even publicly stated Big Sam has only one season to prove himself,ok the target is only UEFA football but football teams must have a longer vision and give the managers a chance.
I agree that at the moment you look like you are in the stronger position but for how long? We have some great youngsters coming up, adel has just made his move permanent and with signings like Bale we seem to be looking at the long term.
But if Arsenal were to miss out on Champions League Football what then? I dont like the…
Look who Spurs have signed since he became sporting director?
Zokora(goon target)
Berbatov(goon target)
Bale(goon target)
Taarabt(.....wait for it goon target)
As for all this crap about red and white north london blah blah blah
I have 2 words for you goons DIAL SQUARE.(south londons finest)
Even your red colour comes from nottingham forest shirts you borrowed.
When you decided to move your club away from the sewer(by the way,the stench remains with you to this day) you didn't even want to move to North London. You wanted to move to WEST London(you weren't wanted there).
You bought your way into the top flight. You will ALWAYS BE A SOUTH LONDON CLUB and you should relocate to somewhere full of french speaking africans.I look forward to seeing Thierry Henry knock you out of europe when you play against whoever signs him
COYS and
F*CK OFF BACK TO SOUTH LONDON!
oh
and King
to Arsenal.
Get over it
Maybe they can do a MK Dons and move to France so their fans won't have so far to travel.
