Spurs Officially Make The Highest Bid For The Beast

It's official! We have made a 20.6 million Euro bid for Sevilla's top draw striker known to the La Liga viewers as 'The Beast'.

Sevilla president has told the press that Spurs have made the highest bid for the Brazilian.

It's weird that nothing has been posted on our official site to neither confirm nor deny this story. Read into that what you will.

So what do we know about the defensive midfielder that turned into an attacking midfielder before becoming a striker?

We can tell you that he scored 20 goals in 30 starts, made 11 assists in 35 games combined and is one of the most aggressive players you will find anywhere on earth.

Imagine the aggression and feistiness of Paul Dickov (sorry for using this example). Now, multiply that by 6 foot 3 inches. There you have it!

Why are we in for him? Why not? Everyone else is.

What will he offer our team (if we actually do get him that is)? I am sure Martin Jol will use him in the midfield area. He is the attacking midfield player we have been crying out for. He is a box-to-box player that can score goals, is great in the air, is known to have the hardest shot in the world behind Adriano, and has an abundance of flair. Enough said?

If we get him, this does not mean that we will be selling any of our current strikers.

Keane had a blinder in today’s 3-1 drubbing of Sundowns FC, with his attitude problems easing up a little. Kanoute will always score and create goals as long as he can apply himself properly, and I don't need to babble on about Mido or Defoe.

So, there you have it. Yet another rumour, but this time confirmed by the chairman of the club selling the player. I know that we shouldn't be too naive. Sevilla's president seems to like the sound of his own voice, and so could have bluffed Arsenal into making a bigger bid than our supposed offer.

I am sure that all will be explained this week.

PS. Do I think we'll get him? I'll have to say no.

  19. I love the fact Levy & Spurs are "in" for all the current transfers. I think it's good business acumen if for no other reason than it helps drive up the price to competing teams like the Gooners. Why should Wenger, Mourinho, Fergie, etc face no competition to get the player they want? Make them pay more and their pounds are stretched to the limit! Hit em where it hurts...in the pocketbook!! Meantime Spurs should continue to buy inexpensive promising young players who will one day be sold to the so-called "bigger" clubs for vast sums!

So what other attackinng midfielders are there...The beast seems to be the missing link in securing a top five finnish...A genetic mutation between David Batty and Rivaldo is well worth breaking the bank for, and if thats a big,sign hime we won´t need another striker because they will all be playing an extra 50% with him in the side with some south american playmaking which we won´t get from the water carriers we´ve got at the moment.
  27. Some of you may know me as the guy from East Lower who's had Figo printed on the back of his Spurs shirt for the past 10 years. As unlikely as it may seem that we'll get 'The Beast' I am encouraged to see we are competing with the scum rather than Southampton or Fulham. It may or may not happen for us this year but sooner or later we'll beat them to a player. Thats when the tide will turn. It won't bother us in the slightest if we miss out, but it would destroy the scum!

And as for the various posters who have come up with names like Johnston, Ashton and.......god I can't even bring myself to say it.... Heskey !?!?!?!?!?!?!?! I think I saw Andy Cole's name mentioned to somewhere, but maybe I just took one acid hit too many and I only dreamed that someone honestly thought that cole was worth it on a free.

  33. The Sevilla chairman is bluffing to make Arse up the bid! But I think it's a bit strange that we seemed to offer a LOT of money. Why not bid that amount on Rosicky for instance. Dortmund are struggling financially and he might want to leave. Heck 20.6 million that's crazy no?

Another vision is that the Red French will lose their way. Its not far off. You know you're nearing the end when you sell your best player for peanuts. I am a big fan of Juan Requelme, he is a fantastic playmaker, and if we had to pay 20mil we should pay it...Its all about good contracts not just being in europe and the reality is we can offer the same as the top three in monitary terms, just not to everybody at the club...If Baptista (a genetic mutation between Rivaldo and Roy Keanes) sees lucrative on the contract he will be Spurs player, alas instead of Requelme who is awesome.

    I'd advise Levy against such a signing, and encourage him to stick to the budgetary framework Frank has correctly implemented.
    Take Chelski's money and spend it wisely. Don;t return to the days of high-priced flops like the Rebrovs and Postigas of the past.

  46. He is just what we want, he is the complete player, can play defensive central or attacking midfielf, or even up front. You can only field 11 players at one time so spend the money on someone who can play just about anywhere. With him and Huddlestone in the team (once he settles in) we should never struggle with any injuries. 20 goals in 30 games equates to about 26 goal in 38 league games... that is Champions league position form, add Defoe's goals and Robinson Englands number one at the back we would be going places.
    The two substitues that turned the game round in the peace cup today might be worth a look, the dreadlocked one looked very attack minded.... hhmm him and the beast .... that would do me!!!! plus stickin one over Arse... nil yes please

  57. Okay, I'll take that to mean most Spurs fans are NOT in favour of a "conservative" approach to spending (as has been the case -- sucessfully -- now for over a year). Frank spent wisely for the most part. Hoddle and Pleat did not. That's the difference. The end results will almost always be used to justify the means, but in this case .. the aforementioned ways of the past were proven not to work at the Lane whereas this new fiscal prudence seems to be a better way.
    Those who call for one or two star signings are somewhat deluded into thinking we are closer to the Big 3 on the pitch than we actually are. One galactico signing is not gonna come in and put this young team on his back and take them into the CL. They need time to develop.
    Now is the time to continue spending wisely, and steady the ship!

    Your post have me in tears..yes this is a great club which has in the doldrum for far too long.

    As for those who think we are taking risk on Baptista 1) Levy knows when to take the right risks now after many years making mistakes 2) Money is not a issue with Spurs, this I believe is a well held secret.I mentioned it before in previous posts. Levy and sugar daddy Lewis is finding the right moment to spend BIG.We have resources similar to the Arse and potentially more.
    As for those who think we are pulling the rug over the Arse and we are not serious over the bid, you are thinking like children.Levy is thinking buisness and not like some of us mulling over the arse all the time.He knows though pyscologically , if we do get a deal over our most bitter rival it would get everyone a lift.
    The official site kept quiet over the Baptista event is a good sign.It means the bid is true.There would be denial from WHL if rumours going white hot are lies.

    But Levy is a good cross between the 2.A Tottenham man with business acumen. He may not have the resources of Roman Abramovich but he has been our best chairman for the last 20 years !

  86. This story is a possible indication that we are negotiating with Sevilla to acquire their sporting director to replace Frank Arnesen.

    My guess is that our "bid" was concocted between the 2 clubs to drive the price up and get a better deal for Sevilla. Baptista is hot property which means he will not be coming to Spurs - sorry.

  88. I have been saying for a long time now that we should continue to take the conservative approach. There is not many players who would join our club at the moment worth the the big money. We have waisted too much money in recent years past there sale by date or just not worth the money. There are some players available of very good quality worth signing that would not cost us a fortune(ie rosicky). However, if there is a chance to sign a player of baptista's quality who is young and will probably be worth even more couple years from now I say sign him! He is a sure thing. Most importantly he would play in just the position we are lacking real quality in. That was probably a comlete waist of time writing as he looks set to stay but those
