Spurs Officially Make The Highest Bid For The Beast

It's official! We have made a 20.6 million Euro bid for Sevilla's top draw striker known to the La Liga viewers as 'The Beast'.
Sevilla president has told the press that Spurs have made the highest bid for the Brazilian.
It's weird that nothing has been posted on our official site to neither confirm nor deny this story. Read into that what you will.
So what do we know about the defensive midfielder that turned into an attacking midfielder before becoming a striker?
We can tell you that he scored 20 goals in 30 starts, made 11 assists in 35 games combined and is one of the most aggressive players you will find anywhere on earth.
Imagine the aggression and feistiness of Paul Dickov (sorry for using this example). Now, multiply that by 6 foot 3 inches. There you have it!
Why are we in for him? Why not? Everyone else is.
What will he offer our team (if we actually do get him that is)? I am sure Martin Jol will use him in the midfield area. He is the attacking midfield player we have been crying out for. He is a box-to-box player that can score goals, is great in the air, is known to have the hardest shot in the world behind Adriano, and has an abundance of flair. Enough said?
If we get him, this does not mean that we will be selling any of our current strikers.
Keane had a blinder in today’s 3-1 drubbing of Sundowns FC, with his attitude problems easing up a little. Kanoute will always score and create goals as long as he can apply himself properly, and I don't need to babble on about Mido or Defoe.
So, there you have it. Yet another rumour, but this time confirmed by the chairman of the club selling the player. I know that we shouldn't be too naive. Sevilla's president seems to like the sound of his own voice, and so could have bluffed Arsenal into making a bigger bid than our supposed offer.
I am sure that all will be explained this week.
PS. Do I think we'll get him? I'll have to say no.
What do you lot think?

But imagine if.....:)
Good. Didn't want him anyway!
It would be absolutely fantastic if it did, but they never do.
But you never know, we once got a man called Jurgen.
wot was u tinkin wanna move forward not backwards
fool ... tut tut
please dont ever say somethin so stupid as that ever again, you need to be hung, drawn and quartered.
pathetic comment
Didn't Baptista say he wanted to join Arsenal? Didn't Bergkamp support Spurs when he was young? I dont think it means so much to foreigners what team they support in England.
He said that his entire family watched Tottenham and his favorite player was Klinsmann.
But I still think the story is Sponge-Bob-Square-Tosh
please hush your gums,
ashton and andrew 'how many times can i fall over in the box and con the ref' johnson are not the way forward for tottenham.
anyone nicknamed the beast is surely up for a fight!
20 goals in 30 games tells me this boy is pretty good, and i dont remember him being qouted as saying i will not go spurs.
grow up
If Parker is a Spurs fan then he did the right thing by joining the barcodes cos he is shit and would have raped Levys wallet like he did chelshit.Bergkamp is a fuckin bender and works part time in Liberty's, I've seen him.
After watching the Peace Cup, its easy to see that we are only short of two or three players to course an upset next season.
Lets have your five then!
GUTI-Perhaps
BAPTISTA-Perhaps
ROSICKY-Perhaps
D'ALESSANDRO-Attitude permitting but another dwarf
JOE COLE-Hope not
I don't think Spurs really think they'll land the Beast, so why not drive up the price a bit?
I hope Levy sees fit to spend somewhat more sensibly... say 6 million for Real's attacking midfielder, Guti?
Imagine that!!
Do you think I'm serious?
Carlton Palmer would do a job too!!
I'd advise Levy against such a signing, and encourage him to stick to the budgetary framework Frank has correctly implemented.
Take Chelski's money and spend it wisely. Don;t return to the days of high-priced flops like the Rebrovs and Postigas of the past.
Anyone agree with the "conservative" approach?
The two substitues that turned the game round in the peace cup today might be worth a look, the dreadlocked one looked very attack minded.... hhmm him and the beast .... that would do me!!!! plus stickin one over Arse... nil yes please
The futures bright the futures BLUE & WHITE
Eric from a family of Spurs fans since 1907
PLEASE COME TO THE LANE!!!
Diego said he was a Spurs fan too.
Cerny is looking very good,so is Routlege.
If we get a quality attacking midfielder we"ll deffo cause an upset.
Yid4Life.
Maradona
Ganfranco Zola
Juniño
If you know anything about the game, you would know that Requelme is quality and not a dwarf.
Obviously size is important to you! Why?
Those who call for one or two star signings are somewhat deluded into thinking we are closer to the Big 3 on the pitch than we actually are. One galactico signing is not gonna come in and put this young team on his back and take them into the CL. They need time to develop.
Now is the time to continue spending wisely, and steady the ship!
Go Spurs!!
you can't rush it, there are no "quick fixes" (unless you happen to be a Russian billionaire)
let them develop and cheer their progress under Jol, who is doin a great job of getting the best from his young lads
Who's the mug?
I joke!!!
And I say don't throw around big money we cant afford, rather spend wisely... this means 6 million for Guti INSTEAD of 13.8 million for Baptista.
Lets all get behind the boys at thelane this year, get in europe then these stories will be much more believalble!!! Come on the spurs!
Some kind of Statement, until then I'll have my reservations. But If this Great club, and they are a massive club, are to rival the likes of the Manks, the scum and those other tossers West London who have just come into a few quid, then we need to be attracting the big names as well as the acquisitions of the undoubted young talent now on our books.
I take my hat off to Daniel Levy, I admire Martin Jol, And think Frank whatshisname is a money grabbing slag....Good times ahead?....I really hope so.
See ya in the Park lane end.
Your post have me in tears..yes this is a great club which has in the doldrum for far too long.
As for those who think we are taking risk on Baptista 1) Levy knows when to take the right risks now after many years making mistakes 2) Money is not a issue with Spurs, this I believe is a well held secret.I mentioned it before in previous posts. Levy and sugar daddy Lewis is finding the right moment to spend BIG.We have resources similar to the Arse and potentially more.
As for those who think we are pulling the rug over the Arse and we are not serious over the bid, you are thinking like children.Levy is thinking buisness and not like some of us mulling over the arse all the time.He knows though pyscologically , if we do get a deal over our most bitter rival it would get everyone a lift.
The official site kept quiet over the Baptista event is a good sign.It means the bid is true. There would be denial from WHL if rumours going white hot are lies.
No disrespect to the 2 former chairmen, they in my opinion have sicnerely tried their best to bring the club forward.
But Levy is a good cross between the 2.A Tottenham man with business acumen. He may not have the resources of Roman Abramovich but he has been our best chairman for the last 20 years !
I have not felt more optimistic since the mid eighties !
We must all remember the grand history of this mighty club and never, no never forget it, no matter what our mates tell us.
This club is a part of us.
We were the club that set precidents, not just in England, but in the rest of the world also.
Three cheers for Molly and his/her awe-inspiring comment.
I too feel the same way about players playing for "the badge". Problem is, you and I seem to have been around long enough to remember the days when it was really cool to wear the cockerel.
It strikes me that the players Spurs now chase are too young to recall these times.
Case in point, he may claim he is a fan, but Julio Baptista was born in 1981, when Ricky Villa was busy undressing the Man City defence.
Let's face it. We ain't been tha shit for 25 years now.
Do you really think WHL is a draw? No CL, no UEFA, no Inter-Toto...
Don't get me wrong, I think the club is finally back on the right track, but I get why a young player like Baptista might bypass Spurs for a so-called "Top-4" team (ie. ManU, Gooners, Chelski, or L'pool)
Still, I too continue to see Tottenham as a "big" club, but not holding my breath that today's player shares my sentiments.
At only 5k/week, I dont think he'd want to stay at Sevilla. Does he really need that EU passport?
It was that also that romance associated with guys like Ardiles and Hoddle that make me a spurs fan; turning away from the "dark" side...I was a Arse fan !
Its time to have a renaissance..everything is in place.A young and predominantly English backbone would revive that mystical spirit of the eighties.
Congratulations Molly!
But I am still hoping that he'd come to Spurs. We can up the bid to 15m and pay him 50k/week. He's Ronaldinho's back-up is he not?
didnt want him at WHL personally think he'll flop up there!
My guess is that our "bid" was concocted between the 2 clubs to drive the price up and get a better deal for Sevilla. Baptista is hot property which means he will not be coming to Spurs - sorry.
