New Targets Linked

As we stated in yesterday's article, our main source (the one who told us first that Davids was about to sign) informed us that Daniel Levy would break the current transfer record on a player.

We were also told that Levy is in current negotiations with the mystery player's club.

We received an email early this morning from another fairly reliable source claiming that one of the players featured in the above picture may sign before the transfer deadline of 31st August 2005.

The first player (left) is Ajax attacking midfielder Westley Sneijder. Sneijder can play anywhere in midfield and is superb at link play. The 21-year old had a troubled last season as there were many changes in the Ajax team. Jol has been a long time admirer of the player. The strange thing is that Sneijder isn't worth more than £11 million. Ajax value him closer to £7 million.

The next player is Internazionale's Andy van der Meyde (centre picture). Van der Meyde is another product from the Ajax School of Excellence. The 26-year old can play on either wing, but prefers the left wing. The Dutch international is exactly what we need on the left wing. He is big and strong and runs at the opposition. Many of you may remember him by the stunning volley he scored against Arsenal in the 2003/2004 season of the Champions League.

Inter value him at around £11 million, which would equal what we paid Dynamo Kiev for Rebrov in 2000.

The thrid player (right picture) is Feyenoord star striker Dirk Kuyt. The 25-year old prolific striker is also in the Dutch squad but has yet to gain a cap. He has scored 49 goals in 68 games with 21 assists to his name. Kuyt is also a very large striker that is normally deployed as a target man. We all know that Martin Jol likes to play the 'little and large' partnership up-front, so Kuyt (pronounced Qu-ift) would fit perfectly alongside Defoe or Keane.

Feyenoord have stated that they will only sell the tall striker if they receive an offer worth looking at. Our source has said that Feyenoord value him at around £10 million, which in today's market is a snip when compared to the £7 million Liverpool paid for ex-Spur Crouch.

Many of you have said that you think neither of these players break the £11 million mark, and to be honest, we agree with you. If we are to 'break the bank' as our sources have stated, then we can expect two signings.

Here at THBN, we think that the most likely signing will be between Westley Sneijder or Dirk Kuyt. Andy van der Meyde has stated that he is very happy at Inter and thoroughly enjoys his life in Milan.

I personally would like Westley Sneijder to join us, as he can play on the left wing, is fast and has an abundance of skill. He had a dip in form last season, but Jol can get the best out of the 21-year old.

I am pleased that Martin Jol is beginning to show his Dutch influence at Spurs. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger started the French revolution at Highbury, Rafa Benitez is starting the Spanish Inquisition at Liverpool, while Mourinho already has four Portuguese players on the books at Chelsea.

In my opinion, Dutch players are pure class, and so it would be great if Martin Jol could influence an orange campaign at the Lane.
