Gerard Houllier, Lyon's newly installed head coach has told sources close to him that the Tottenham striker, Fredi Kanoute is at the top of his wanted-list this summer.

Lyon have around £5 million available to spend in the transfer market, and they are willing to pay that for the Mali international forward.

Spurs head coach, Martin Jol, has become increasing frustrated with Kanoute. The tall striker opted not to go on tour with the club to Mauritius, instead, he went on holiday.

Many Spurs fans are also Anti-Kanoute as the players strike rate is not at all good. Jol is also understood to have the same feelings for the player as do the fans.

WBA came in with a £4.5 million offer, only for Spurs to reject it. Sources close to THBN have said that it wasn't Spurs, but Kanoute who rejected the move, as he is comfortable in London and wouldn't want a move away.

The Arnesen affair has also brought to the boil the fact that Carlton Cole, Chelsea's young striker, could be used in a swap deal. If that was to happen, then not only Kanoute's, but also Mido's future would look bleak at the Lane.
