Ange Postecoglou Confirms What I've Been Saying for 10 Years

A change from the planned article (I have 7 written I'm juggling) after Ange Postecoglou's press conference before the meaningless West Ham United game.

Why?

Because he bluntly converted a topic I have been writing a lot on.

His words, the words of a serial winner with a winning mindset, a proper one, not what fans think is one, were crystal clear...

The Silent Dealmakers; Behind The Transfer Curtain article is being delayed until tomorrow and for good reason.

Let's crack on.

Tottenham Hotspur’s manager — the man currently tasked with dragging this club forward — laid it out perfectly in the press conference before the West Ham United game.

Let’s not sugarcoat it.

Ange nailed it.

Everything I’ve said for a decade about the weak fan mindset holding this club back…

The lazy negativity…

The emotional immaturity…

The losing mentality cloaked in ‘support’…

All exposed by this one statement from our Aussie manager:

"Part of creating a winning culture is not to fall into that trap. Winners don’t think about what could possibly go wrong. They have a real clarity around what they need to do to win."

Did you catch that?

Winners don’t sit around moaning.

Winners are not pessimists.

They have a positive outlook.

They don’t write players off, then worship them after one performance...

Just like a blog commenter has done over Bissouma!

They don’t obsess over what might go wrong, they focus on what needs to go right.

That’s the mental discipline of elite environments.

And what else did Ange say?

"I’ve said before that the narrative around the club is not positive at all… but that’s existed for a very long time. You need to break through that… If you expect something to go wrong, it will."

There it is...

The self-fulfilling prophecy.

The very thing I’ve called out repeatedly:

Toxic fans manufacturing failure from fear.

Clinging to misery because it’s familiar.

This quote hits especially hard:

"That’s not me… I don’t look at it as me falling short consistently at this football club… I don’t accept that… There’s no point dwelling on what’s happened in the past."

Clear as day in the context of his whole answer.

But it'll be misinterpreted by our fans.

Ange refuses to be tarred by the loser’s narrative...

The one so many of our supporters have tragically internalised.

He’s trying to build something new.

To break the cycle.

He admitted he has tried to change the mentality of the fans...

But they are hell bent on retaining their losing mentality...

Fans even wanted him to lose to Manchester City last season...

Because they were more interested in what happens at another club than they are at what happens at Spurs!

So he has abandoned educating these people as a lost cause...

Something he can't control.

Thus, won't waste time on.

That is the job that is too big for every manager who arrives here.

They have to work against the and toxic fanbase...

Who absolve themselves of any responsibility.

But winning mentalities know better.

I discuss this very point in an upcoming article...

Where, because I have a winning mentality, I offer another solution to a problem.

And what does he say is the only remedy?

"There’s only one remedy. We’ve got to win. You can talk… but winning is the remedy."

That’s what I’ve been telling you.

All the moaning in comment sections…

All the constant negativity on X (Twitter)…

All the agenda-driven abuse…

None of it helps win trophies.

Only constructive criticism.

Only solutions.

Only mental toughness.

And you either get that, or you're the problem.

The fans who live on doom and gloom aren't ‘realists’.

They’re cowards with a keyboard.

They don’t help build a culture of excellence...

They erode it.

Ange sees it.

I’ve seen it.

Winners see it.

The question is…

Do you?

Ange Tells You Clearly: The Culture Problem Isn’t Inside the Club… It’s YOU the fans

A reporter, trying to fish for a headline, floated the same lazy cliché Spurs fans repeat like parrots:

"Is there a culture problem at the club?"

Ange didn’t hesitate.

He shut it down. Immediately.

Here’s his exact reply:

“Well, it’s not really—I don’t know if it’s a culture at the club. It’s a culture around the club. I get that… the narrative around the club… but if you accept that, then you’re kind of almost self-prophesising what’s going to happen.”

Let that sink in.

He’s not talking about the dressing room.

He’s not talking about the training ground.

He’s not talking about Levy, the chairman, or the board.

He’s talking about you.

The fans.

The media that parrots fans.

The social media morons whose moans gets quoted by journalists desperate for engagement.

“If you expect something to go wrong… it will.”

He’s pointing the finger directly at the self-defeating noise that drowns out progress.

The whinge culture.

The endless negativity.

The craving to be proven right about failure...

Even if it means the club suffers.

We have a terrible fanbase, for 99% of the week!

This manager doesn’t accept the “Spursy” tag.

“That’s not me… I’ve been in one semi-final. This is my second. I don’t look at it as me falling short consistently at this football club.”

He's fighting for the future — you’re wallowing in the past.

This isn't a "club culture" problem.

It’s a fanbase culture problem.

And now you've heard it — straight from the man in charge.

So don’t pretend you didn’t know.

Don’t play dumb.

The only culture issue is the one looking back at you when you scroll through social media.

It’s your pessimism.

Your defeatist mentality.

Your addiction to misery masquerading as “realism.”

Ange is telling you to stop projecting failure onto a group of players and a project that are actively trying to win a trophy.

Mind you, he has been saying that since he arrived...

But the message didn't align with their hatred agenda.

So either step up…

Or step aside.

THBN The Final Word

In a nutshell...

The narrative surrounding the club...

Is the problem.

It's a noose around the players.

Who creates the narrative?

The fans...

YOU.
