The Milan Škriniar Transfer Story
The Tottenham Hotspur Transfer Pursuit of Milan Škriniar Story |
Fenerbahçe's head coach, José Mourinho, is keen on retaining defender Milan Škriniar, who joined the Turkish club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) during the winter transfer window.
According to reports from Habertürk Newspaper, initial discussions between Fenerbahçe and PSG have set a potential transfer fee at approximately €10 million (£8,36m).
Currently, Škriniar is on a dry loan, meaning there is no purchase option included, and he is scheduled to return to PSG at the end of the season.

Škriniar has expressed a strong desire to remain at Fenerbahçe, citing the club's high calibre and the opportunity to work under Mourinho as significant factors in his decision to join. In a recent interview, he stated:
"It's a great club and an extraordinary person, 'The Special One'. When Fenerbahçe showed interest, he was among the first to call and write to me. For a player, this means a lot.
"It's also one of the reasons I came here, and I really enjoy working with him. I'm convinced that together we can achieve great results."

However, the situation is complicated by interest from other clubs.
The 30-year-old Slovakian defender has attracted attention from Tottenham Hotspur, though no formal offers have been made.
Škriniar harbours aspirations of playing in England, which could influence his decision.
Fenerbahçe aims to secure him on a long-term contract, but the player's openness to Premier League opportunities may prolong negotiations.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering the PSG centre-back, bought from Serie A side Inter Milan, as a potential replacement for Cristian Romero, who has attracted significant interest from top European clubs.
Škriniar, a right-footed international defender, is known for his defensive solidity and leadership qualities, something the Lilywhites need.
Cristian Romero's future at Tottenham appears uncertain, with Atlético Madrid expressing serious intentions to sign the Argentine defender.
However, they aren't talking the right numbers, which at this stage is a ploy on their part to try and bring down an expected fee figure from Daniel Levy, who of course does the opposite at this stage of negotiations.
Reports indicate that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is prepared to accept offers in the region of £80 million for Romero I believe, a reduction from previous valuations.
In response to the potential departure of Romero, Tottenham Hotspur have identified Škriniar as a suitable replacement.
The THBN view is that we should sell now for £80m because he doesn't actually play much for us, we can command a fee for him and someone like Škriniar would be a quality replacement who we could buy cheaply and have money to reinvest, helping our future PSR situation.
See previous article for a greater PSR situation and funds available for transfers in 2026.
The Slovakian defender's experience and skill set align with Ange Postecoglou's defensive requirements.
However, securing Škriniar's services may present challenges, as many clubs are chasing him, though his wages may be a problem for most.
As the season progresses, Fenerbahçe's management is eager to finalize Škriniar's transfer swiftly to prevent losing him to other interested parties.
The outcome will depend on ongoing negotiations between Fenerbahçe, PSG, and Škriniar's representatives, as well as any forthcoming offers from other clubs.
