Old and new - a look back at the Spurs Need to go Mental Series of 2014

It is enjoyable revisiting old posts and assessing them against the team of today, like the Spurs Need To Go Mental Series of 2014.

Do the same problems still exist?

Take the introductory post in my 'Spurs Need To Go Mental Series' back in 2014.

Part 1 talks about players who perform against the top teams but not the lesser teams, but if you think about it, too many times it seems, Spurs underperform and look a different side when we are motivated to chase a game.

Crystal Palace being another example.

We do sometimes fall into the trap of trying to score the perfect goal instead of having a shot inside the box.

Spurs have drifted for 10 years with the wrong mental approach, not paying it enough attention.

Traditional coaches with traditional mindsets and traditional ways of doing things, none were innovative, none broke the mold.

That is until Ange Postecoglou arrived on the scene with a mentality I have been desperate to see at Spurs.

Things have to change, things have to be done differently, perfection must be sought in all areas, both on and off the pitch.

If your recruitment isn't right then you won't get the results.

If your player development isn't right you won't get the results.

Bring on the next Ange Postecoglou press conference and let's hear his winning mentality educate our fans some more.

Why are players paid a high wage?

I'd be interested in your answer, I covered it in Part 2.
