  • Jean-Clair Todibo update

Good morning folks, the winter window is here.

If you haven't read my previous article, you're missing out. You can rectify that by visiting this link (opens in a new window) The Resurgence of Spurs - Levy I told you so.

All the things I have been discussing over the years, the Kaisen approach, mentality, controlling emotions, positivity, and proactivity are all the things Postecoglou is addressing, as is Daniel Levy through his appointments and the responsibilities he gives them.

I have sat back and smiled.

The Aussies approach in press conferences is the best of anyone I have ever seen and his interviews aren't far behind either.

Can you imagine in previous years where we would be with all these injuries to contend with?

I doubt we'd have been in the Top 4 at Christmas.

We need three points to regain the ground we lost to Aston Villa, a side we should have thrashed but lost to.

Tottenham Transfer Talk

Daniel Levy does not generally conduct Spurs transfer negotiations, he steps in when they are in danger of breaking down or to negotiate the final payment structure when general figures have been agreed.

That has been the reality for years now but fans with a bone to pick need to fuel their hatred thus their diatribe.

What is happening in the Tottenham transfer world this winter?

Jean-Clair Todibo

Daniel Levy is not, for instance, conducting the negotiations with Nice for the ex-Barcelona player Jean-Clair Todibo.

Spurs want a centre-back in early in the window but Nice do not want to let him go until near the end of the window and therin lies the main problem with this potential deal.

From their point of view, why would they want to lose a quality player who is settled in their system weeks before they have to.

His replacement would have to get up to speed so better for them to wait until February to do that, not upset their season before they have to.

We would like a deal around £35m + £5m add-ons whereas Nice wants a package around £52 million.

Japhet Tanganga

Japhet Tanganga has had a more serious injury than expected while at Bundesliga side Augsburg and has not played for them. As a result, his loan is likely to be terminated this month.

Radu Drăgușin

Napoli have relaunched their attempt to buy Genoa centre-back Radu Drăgușin.

They have offered €20 million (£17.34m) + 24-year-old Norwegian international (19 caps, 1 goal) centre-back Leo Østigård, who would make an instant replacement having started 44% of Napoli Serie A games he has been available for.

Østigård is valued at €10 million (£8.67m) by Transfermarkt.

Genoa are asking for €35 million (£30.34m) for Drăgușin with Italian press reports suggesting the North Eastern Italian side won't let him go for less than €30 million (£25.93m), a figure Spurs are willing to meet

His agent, Florin Manea, spoke to TV Play:

"Radu will arrive at a top club, because I have seen how he works. Juventus was fundamental for him: he was able to work with people of the level of Bonucci and Chiellini, and he learned a lot from them.

"Alberto Gilardino and also Blessin gave him a lot of confidence. In Sampdoria, he still made some mistakes and worked a lot to improve. He is a very intelligent boy, he studies at university.

"Chiellini sent him messages to correct him and always gave him a lot of advice. With Gilardino he grew a lot, he got his first yellow card after eighteen games for a foul against an opposing goalkeeper.

"Since I've been doing this job I've never met a guy like him. He's not interested in money, he wants to have a great career. Napoli hasn't contacted me.

"He's not convinced about leaving Genoa in the middle of the season. In my opinion, he is perfect to play in England, his dream is to reach the Premier League.

"Radu doesn't feel the pressure, before the Inter match he told me that the pressure makes him feel better. We haven't seen any offers from Tottenham: if they then reach an agreement with Genoa, I'm ready to listen to them.

"In the only meeting I had with Tottenham they only asked me about the boy's character, because from a technical point of view, they already knew everything."
Now things change fast in football and when we read that personal terms have been agreed upon, that means the agent has said we are looking for this sort of package, the club have said we will offer this sort of package and the two sides are happy with what they hear.

The actual figures and all the associated details get thrashed out later, but as you can read from his quotes, Drăgușin wants the Premier League and Tottenham are 5th so he isn't going to get a much better offer, or at least the chances of it are slim.

He knows he'll have competition but he backs himself to produce the goods when his opportunity arises.

There should be European football next season, hopefully the UEFA Champions League and so with plenty of games rotation will have to occur, meaning he is guaranteed chances if he is fit.
