Table Toppers News

A very good international break to you all with Tottenham Hotspur winning another away game and topping the table for two weeks still unbeaten after a battling performance where we should have been 3-0 up in less than 15 minutes.

Today, Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) is bring you Table Topper News, yes why not celebrate and enjoy it for a couple of weeks with everyone still continuously writing us off.

This is what I dislike about the ex-football experts they have on TV, they are all so predictable. None, it seems think players down tools, although I did hear one say a player doesn't put the same level of effort in if they don't want to play for the manager.

Maddison at his golf day pointed out that happy players, player who totally buy into what a manager wants perform better than players who don't.

Well I have been screaming this at you via Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill for years, I even wrote a whole post on it.

Success is a formula, in life, in sport.

Everything comes back to that, hence why people who don't understand that, like journalists, work for others who do and invalidates many of their observations.

It is the same as winning mentalities and people who try to win a sporting match, a world of difference and an unintended secret to those winning mentalities.

First objective, find what truly drives you, not what you think drives you.

Right onto some Spurs Chat.

Richarlison

Personally, I didn't think one goal and an assist would turn Richarlison around like all the ex-forwards (Shearer, Wright, Lineker etc) were suggesting it could.

Why>

Because his problems are more deep-seated than that, it is more than just a crisis of confidence, his personal life is affecting his football so until, mentally, he has his head right around that, I don't see him performing.

One absolute sitter missed was the wrong choice of technique to knock it into the net, then through he put it far too near the goalkeeper, presumably not having the confidence to go for the corner.

When your confidence is down you add in a safety factor, so instead of aiming for the corner, you aim slighty inside of that, which increases the chances of the goalkeeper saving it and that's the problem Richarlison seems to be displaying.

On a positive note, there was a moment, I can't remember if it was against Arsenal or Liverpool, where the ball was crossed and he hit a first-time shot with his right foot that was deflected just past the right-hand post.

That strike was on target, aimed for the corner and that might have set him on his way, but in situations where he has time to think, that's where the problems, the doubts come in.

Dylan Thompson

Hot on the heels of my post about a young goalkeeper making waves that Spurs must have their eye on and out comes the news of a Norwich City goalkeeper on our Academy radar.

The keeper in question is Dylan Thompson who has been a part of the Norwich City U-15 team but has turned down a new contract with him and reportedly wants to sign for Tottenham.

Signing him would involve paying the Championship side compensation but Tottenham are reportedly happy to do so.

The other club interested in the youngster is Sheffield Wednesday but Thompson has been on trial at Hotspur Way and is keen to stay.

Alejo Véliz

Alejo Véliz

Promising young 20-year-old (21 next September) Argentinian forward Alejo Véliz has been impressing in training at Hotspur Way and has now come on in the last two English Premier League (EPL) games, just to give him a taste of life at this level.

Even though he was only on for a few minutes in injury time, he certainly put everything into those minutes and was a keen hard worker up front on his own.

Richarlison is not the best at holding up the ball but Véliz in his 4-minute cameo seemed to be able to do a better job at it.

He was all hustle and bustle, winning a header, chasing it down and getting on the end of it.

One touch in the penalty box where he couldn't work himself a shooting space will have been very informative and beneficial to him. It gives him an idea of defending in real time that he will face.

A thought, had we been 3-0 up within 15 minutes, would we have seen a couple more before half-time and Véliz being brought on early to rest and protect Heung-min Son?

I look forward to seeing more minutes of him and come January some time in the FA Cup.
