Captain James Maddison

Captain James Maddison

I'm loving this Postecoglou guy more every day.

In each press conference, he is educating the journalists and teaches them that people inside football do not think like they do, that people in the game do not do things the way reporters report them and thus do not think like fans either.

The questions journalists ask are way out of kilter with the world inside football.

Which basically means that fans are usually wrong.

The guy you think might make the best leader often isn't the best leader and strange as it may sound, a leader doesn't have to be the take-control type of leader, because there is another type.

There is the intelligent leader. That intelligence may not be evident to others but if a guy is confident in himself, then potentially he has the ability to be a leader.

Who would you pick as captain, my choice is James Maddison, there are few stand-out candidates.

Before that some more articles. Some get it, some don't:

If you don't understand the Spurs vision, or don't think there is one, this will put you straight:

The Tottenham construction and significance of  Postecoglou's appointment

Spurs Captain

Eric Dier - has unfollowed Tottenham and removed all reference to Spurs from his Instagram account, which would rather suggest he has been told to find another club.

Vicario - No

Emerson - he could do it I feel, but I still have attitude reservations, I don't think his mental approach is right.

Romero - a dark horse, I'd be concerned whether the responsibility made him rasher or settled him.

Van de Ven - I simply don't know enough about the guy so no formnow, but keep an eye for next season

Udogie - Don't know enough about him, but No

Bentancur - if he were fit and playing, quite possibly leadership ability in there, but injured so no

Skipp - too early, not a guaranteed starter

Sarr - only just finding his feet, hasn't established himself yet, no

Hojbjerg - leaving

Lo Celso - looks as though he'll be understudy to Maddison

Son - I'd have him concentrate on his game, I don't see him as a leader of Spurs

Richarlison - no

Kulusevski - no

Perisic - only here for a year and surely not a starter

For me it all points to James Maddison, from what I have heard of him he has the right mentality to take it on.

We'll find out later today.
