Does Kulusevski fit Postecoglou's system

Hello once again and in this post we'll look at Dejan Kulusevski, first through an interview conducted during this international break and then assess whether his skill set aligns with the requirements of an Ange Postecoglou system.

Kulusevsli Interview

Swedish international winger Dejan Kulusevski has been interviewed by Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet after his move from Juventus was finally made permanent. Here's what he had to say.

"I finally know my future, I know where I will play and where I will live. We are people too us, you don't want to go around too much on loan but find a place you want, whether it's a home, where you can plan for the future with your family.
"The situation hasn't been handled as it should have been, clearly I wish I had known a lot sooner and not have to sit and wait for a decision to be made. But I understand that it took more time, a lot of people have changed at the club and on the bench... after a year-and-a-half loan deal, I can't wait to build my future at Tottenham."

Kulusevski was asked about new head coach Ange Postecoglou.
"I understood that he was interested in me, to care about us. I'm happy we have a new manager, he will bring new ideas. I've always heard good things about him."

Kulusevski was asked what the World Cup break was like.
"The break for the World Cup was a really bad, terrible time. We trained but lacked energy, it was all dark... There was no great joy or desire to play."

Kulusevski was asked about the performances in the second half of the season.
"We started games and we were 3-0 down, a situation like I've never experienced before. I just thought: what's going on? I'd come home shocked, it was difficult to explain to family and friends what was happening, I didn't recognize myself."

Kulusevski was asked about the 6-1 defeat at Newcastle United
"I'd rather not remember, it was the worst moment in my career. I experienced incredibly strange sensations... They overwhelmed us, we were weak and wobbly. I hope it never happens again."

It is safe to say he had a better first season and made a real impact at Tottenham so it is clear the ability is there and he can have a more successful season next season.chatgpt

Does Dejan Kulusevski fit the skill set requirements of Ange Postecoglou?

Dejan Kulusevski possesses qualities that align with the skill set requirements for a wide forward in Ange Postecoglou's system or Tottenham wouldn't have signed him permanently.

  1. Operating Between the Lines: Kulusevski has demonstrated the ability to operate between the lines effectively. He can drop into pockets of space between the opposition's defensive lines, creating overloads and providing teammates with passing options.

  2. Creating Overloads and Exploiting Central Areas: Kulusevski has shown his capability to create overloads in central areas by drifting infield from the flanks. This allows him to take advantage of spaces and disrupt the opposition's defensive structure.

  3. Technical Skills: Good technical skills are crucial for wide forwards in Postecoglou's system. Kulusevski possesses strong technical abilities, including his dribbling, ball control, and passing, which enable him to receive the ball in tight spaces and maintain possession effectively.

  4. Linking Play: Kulusevski has demonstrated the ability to link play between the midfield and attack. He can connect with his teammates through accurate passing and intelligent movement, helping to maintain fluidity and progression in the team's attacking play.

Kulusevski possesses several key attributes that align with the skill set requirements of wide forwards in Ange Postecoglou's tactical system. The Swede's technical abilities, comfort in tight spaces, and potential to create overloads make him a promising candidate for the role.
