Football Casserole

Football Casserole

The birds have been fed, the frog spawn is floating, the pond has been filled, the bird bath tipped up, the sausage casserole prepared and into the slow cooker (pearl barley, lentils, oxo cube, mushrooms, chopped tomatoes, couple of chopped onions, sausages sliced into chunks, carrots, peas, seasoning, delicious.

Cook potatoes later, perhaps mash.

Any leftovers, and there will be, either add boiling water and reheat for sausage and vegetable soup, or then add gravy granules to thicken the juice and change the flavour or turn into a sausage casserole with cobblers.

Add a tin of baked beans, mix in and reheat, then transfer to a casserole dish, top with dumpling mixed into balls and put in the oven for half an hour without the lid on.

You could use this method with a packed of mince and feed 6, 8, 10 with it, who said you can't feed people cheaply?

A bed of spagetti perhaps, eke out with a small tin of tomatoes or another onion.

You have many options.

Having solved the food crisis, filled you with your 5 a day and got your children all eating healthily with vegetables and pulses, let's move onto football and the mighty Tottenham Hotspur.

Because we are mighty, we have risen from mid-table obscurity in a different era of football, appreciated that money dictates who wins these day and sought about building a club that can sustain itself, the way UEFA requires, but grow into a major force at the same time.

That journey was never going to be short and yes perhaps it has taken longer than we had hoped.

Preparing to build a stadium and preparing the finances to be able to do so, preparing them to get the best loan rates was lost on many, but necessary.

If Spurs didn't have the stadium we would never be a regular UEFA Champions League (UCL) team, always fighting in 5th or 6th until state owned clubs circumventing the rules overtook us.

Aston Villa thought they were the richest club in the country when they were bought, or at least their fans did, so where are they now?

Everton thought they were one of the richest clubs in the country, or their fans did, after a half a billion-pound spend, where are they now?

So why do some clubs win with money, albeit dodgy money and some not?

The answer there is mindset.

Some don't appreciate the importance of mindset and how vital it is to success in sport.

If you don't fill the dressing room with the right mindsets then the poor will drag the good down, they will hold you back and the good minds will leave.

If you employ a manager who doesn't understand the importance of building the right environment and filling it with the right mindsets, focussing too much on skill alone, then you'll fail.

The number one criterion in any player is their mindset, yet the sport deals with it like a bunch of amateurs.

Have the players Spurs have been linked with got the right mentality?

No idea?

But the pint is, you can get it, even if you don't have it, if you are trained to acquire it, but alas clubs including Spurs play at it.

Invest in it, become world leaders at it and the value of every player rises drastically.

Then you just put players through that conveyor belt.

Tottenham Transfer Talk

Morten Hjulmand

Tottenham has sent scouts on several occasions to Italy to watch 23-year-old (24 next June) Danish U-21 international (on the bench once for a full international) Morten Hjulmand.

Morten Hjulmand was born on June 25, 1999, and currently plays as a midfielder for Lecce in Italy's Serie A.

Hjulmand began his career in the youth academy of FC Copenhagen before joining the Danish club HB Køge in 2018.

He made his professional debut for HB Køge in the Danish 1st Division during the 2018-2019 season, and his performances earned him a move to Italian side U.S. Lecce in 2020 for €170,000.

Since joining Lecce, Hjulmand has been a regular in the squad and has shown versatility by playing in multiple midfield positions.

The defensive or box-to-box midfielder has also contributed to the team's attacking play with his passing ability and creativity., having 4 assists to his name in 21 games this season.

While he is still developing as a player, Hjulmand is considered a promising talent with a bright future in the sport.

Manuel Ugarte

Manuel Ugarte is a Uruguayan international (6 caps) who currently plays as a midfielder for Portuguese club Sporting CP. He was born on June 29, 2001, in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Ugarte began his professional career with the Uruguayan club Fénix before joining Sporting CP in the summer of 2021 for €6.5m.

He has since become a key player for Sporting, featuring regularly in the Primeira Liga, Europa League and of course this season, the Champions League.

The young defensive midfielder has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, who have been linked with a potential move for him.

He is known for his technical ability, agility, and work rate, and is considered a versatile midfielder who can play in multiple positions.

While Ugarte's future remains uncertain, he has already shown great potential and is expected to continue developing into a top-level player. As such, it would not be surprising to see him attract further interest from top clubs in the near future.

Borja Iglesias

Football news portal Fichajes.net suggest Spurs are interested in 30-year-old (31 next June) Real Betis striker Borja Iglesias.

Borja Iglesias Quintas, commonly known as Borja Iglesias, is a Spanish international (1 cap) who currently plays as a striker for Real Betis in La Liga.

He was born on January 17, 1993, in Santiago de Compostela, capital of northwest Spain’s Galicia region.

Iglesias began his professional career in the youth academy of Celta Vigo before moving to third-tier club CD San Roque de Lepe.

He later joined UE Cornellà, where his impressive performances caught the attention of Celta Vigo, who signed him in 2017.

After a year with Celta Vigo, Iglesias joined Espanyol, where he became a key player and scored 17 goals in his first season.

His performances attracted the attention of Real Betis, who signed him in 2019 for a club-record transfer fee of €28 million.

Since joining Real Betis, Iglesias has continued to impress, scoring important goals and contributing to the team's success.

He is known for his physicality, aerial ability, and finishing skills.

Overall, Borja Iglesias is a talented and highly-regarded striker who has shown his ability to perform at the highest level of Spanish football.

The Verdiblanco would let him leave for €30m, probably too much for a 30-year-old. It's at that age where their value declines with just a few years in a player's career and thus diminishing sell-on fee.

The Nero Azurro (Inter Milan) have enquired about him as they search for bargain players, La Vecchia Signora (Juventus) have also, as have Spurs.

Evan N'Dicka

Free agent in the summer Evan N'Dicka will only sign for a UEFA Champions League (UCL) team when his contract runs out.

Three clubs in Spain are chasing him, Real Betis, Barcelona and Sevilla.

Evan Ndicka is a French U-21 international (1 cap) who currently plays as a center-back for Eintracht Frankfurt in the German Bundesliga.

He was born on July 20, 1999, in the Franch capital, Paris.

Ndicka began his youth career at AJ Auxerre in France before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2018. He quickly established himself as a key player for the club, impressing with his physicality, aerial ability, and composure on the ball.

He is considered a versatile defender who can play at left-back or center-back, and his ability to start attacks from the back makes him a valuable asset to any team.

Ndicka is considered a promising talent for the future and is considered one of the most exciting young defenders in European football.

Daichi Kamada

Japanese attacker Daichi Kamada ends his contract with Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer and has been linked with Spurs.

However, I believe he is signing for Borussia Dortmund, in fact he has given them a verbal agreement.

Now not all player honour their verbal agreements as e know to our cost, but the Dortmund offer was better than Spurs' offer and the offer of two other clubs.

Daichi Kamada is a Japanese international (27 caps, 3 goals, 7 assists) who was born on August 5, 1996, in Ehime in Japan.

Ehime is a Japanese prefecture covering the northwest quarter of Shikoku Island and dozens of smaller islands in the Seto Inland Sea.

Geography is so lacking these days, isn't it.

Kamada began his professional career with the Japanese club Sagan Tosu before moving to Germany to join Eintracht Frankfurt in 2017.

He initially struggled to make an impact in his first season but made significant progress in his second season, scoring 10 goals in all competitions.

Since then, Kamada has continued to develop and establish himself as one of the key players for Eintracht Frankfurt.

He is known for his technical ability, vision, and creativity, and is capable of playing in multiple positions across the attacking midfield.

Kamada's performances have seen him being linked with several top European clubs.

Daichi Kamada is a talented and highly-regarded attacking midfielder who has proven his ability to perform at the highest level of German football.
