Behind the Scenes at Tottenham

Hello, once again folks.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes at Tottenham at the moment.

First of all, let's establish that an owner CAN NOT just give money to a club playing European football.

Any money given must be paid back at some stage, even if that is years later.

Manchester City were funded by sponsorship, PSG were funded by sponsorship.

They funded themselves through sponsorship deals with what we'll call close associates.

If an authority wants to prove you are funding yourself against their rules, you have to have physical proof.

If the clubs concerned refuse to cooperate and give you the emails that prove your case, then you have no case.

You can not obtain them illegally, as UEFA did.

Hence, simply by not cooperating with any investigation they have been able, and admit, to circumvent UEFA rules.

That is a very basic explanation to give you the gist.

The point being sponsorship built these clubs and Newcastle United want to do the same thing, hence their argument with the Premier League who have been trying to prevent it.

You'll note all three are arab owners, who hold perhaps a different view than previously existed among football owners.

Tottenham are on the cusp, but while we have increased our income £200m, more is still needed.

But we are ripe for investment as there is a substantial profit to be had by increasing our worth.

Enter QSI.

As you know, Tottenham have been having discussions with QSI about a 25% investment for £1 billion.

QSI wants Antonio Conte to stay on as manager.

Tottenham have offered Conte a new contract that he has not yet signed, that was offered over a month ago.

He hasn't signed it.

Is Conte waiting to see if Tottenham gets the players he has asked for in the January transfer window or alternatives that are acceptable to him.

Zaniolo and Porro are two players he wants.

Spurs have offered Roma more money than AC Milan.

Both clubs have put conditions on an obligation to buy, conditions that are not easy to achieve, thus Roma are reluctant to let him go, even though he is on the transfer list.

They are trying to put conditions in to increase the price.

It's a cat-and-mouse game, most transfer negotiations are.

Sporting have had a cup semi-final and now a final to play.

Why would they leave themselves short of right-backs leading into those games?

They wouldn't, hence no deal yet.

Spurs are looking into bringing in a centre-back too.

Is Conte waiting to see the outcome of talks with QSI as that changes the club and the players Spurs can afford.

It is not guaranteed that he leaves, it is up in the air.

All these things are related and intertwined.

Then there is the Fabio Paratici situation and we have to wait and see how that is going to impact the club.

If Conte is sent-off then he still manages the side but sends messages from the stands via a third party.

It's the same with Paratici dealing with Italian clubs.

The question is, does this scupper us in the Italian market, will Italian clubs deal with us?

Spurs have to wait and see what happens, we can't just guess and react to guesses.

For us supporters, it is wait and see.
