Road Sweeper Ronnie Knows Best
Tottenham have spent £172m this Summer Transfer Window according to Sky Sports, 3rd behind Chelsea and West Ham United, but road sweeper Ronnie on social media is not happy.
Unfortunately, road sweeper Ronnie, who doesn't understand management thinking, misinterprets Antonio Conte's words to suit his pre-determined agenda.
He knows better.
Fabio Paratici was brought in by Daniel Levy, given the role of Managing Director of Football and the responsibility for the playing side of the club.
He would not have joined Spurs if he didn't have the power to do what he wanted. If he had to ask Daniel Levy all the time he wouldn't be here, if Daniel Levy was doing all the negotiating, he wouldn't be here.
The art of being the boss is surrounding yourself with experts in the areas you are not an expert in.
There is a difference in thinking here.
You see a boss, sees a manager, and we are talking business here, not football, as quality if he has surrounded himself with the information he doesn't have.
Whereas a worker (good old road sweeper Ronnie), feels he should get the promotion because he did the work or has the knowledge.
That's not what's required from a boss.
To rise to the top you build and manage teams, coordinate and present the information and give credit where it's due.
You give your team responsibility to do their job, you do the team management and present the teams conclusions upstairs as your departments, which you have and take responsibility for, conclusions, ideas etc.
If somebody isn't up to the standard you want, then you replace them.
We have seen Daniel Levy do this many times because of the high expectations he sets.
The club has been built to be a big club, something you do before you achieve, as anyone who knows success formulas will tell you, and been built to generate the income to compete with the successful clubs in the transfer market, on an ongoing basis.
With money to spend each summer now, you don't want to be wasteful with it, you want top quality people therefore running the recruitment and Fabio Paratici has been charged with bringing trophies to Tottenham Hotspur.
Paratici is dragging Tottenham up to the next level in terms of football operation, scouting, recruitment, playing, everything.
The Italian has transformed the clubs recruitment team and now has a staff of 50.
Obviously he works very closely with Antonio Conte who is happy at Spurs but has made it clear to everyone that it will take another two windows to get to where he wants the playing staff to be.
Road sweeper Ronnie of course, expect it in one window, expects it now.
You have to travel to reach a destination, you have to have a map if you don't know where you are going.
Spurs have someone behind the wheel who does know how to get to destinations, he's a seasoned traveller.
Nobody, not even road sweeper Ronnie can dispute Spurs are travelling in the right direction.
Unfortunately, road sweeper Ronnie, who doesn't understand management thinking, misinterprets Antonio Conte's words to suit his pre-determined agenda.
He attaches a meaning to them that isn't there, much like reporters do.
Antonio Conte has been very clear it will take another two windows and by that he might mean two summer windows, to build a squad to challenge.
So when Conte speaks, he is speaking to that agenda, not road sweeper Ronnie's now agenda.
He is not having a pop at the board that he needs more signing now and not, as our intellectually challenged friend suggests, going to walk because he hadn't got them.
"We must first understand that the club did what it could do. I think that we still did good things but i have to be honest with you because I see other squads of top teams where there is too much distance, still too much distance."For this reason we have to know we have just started the process to improve the squad. In this transfer window we tried to do this, also in January with Bentancur and Kulusevski."Also in this window we tried to improve the squad in numerical and quality aspect, but for sure to be competitive and fight to be a title contender and also to get a place in the Champions League you need at least three transfer windows more to improve and be at the level of the other top clubs."
So Conte is making it clear that January, next summer and the following January to be in a position to possibly fight for the Premier League title and to in the Champions League.
He knows the project he has taken on and what the club can do, so he knows it is not a one season task.
For this reason, and as I explained recently about the thinking behind a winning mentality, Conte won't be going anywhere.
He received the investment he was promised, he received the six player by this summer he was promised, everyone knows more are needed and the quality build will go on.
From what I understand, we will be making approaches in January to reinforce the squad with players we were unable to get this summer.
The longer term plan is in place, road sweeper Ronnie doesn't possess such forward thinking.
Tottenham are still one victory away from 100 Premier League (EPL) London Derby victories after the 1-1 draw away to West Ham in midweek.
Conte felt Spurs deserved more than a draw from that game, he sees the game in a different light to road sweeper Ronnie, as I explained in this piece.

Conte reminded everyone that there was plenty more to do to stay in touch with the top clubs in the country and complimented Spurs possession play, something road sweeper Ronnie and reporters don't see.
The Italian expressed confidence that the Lillywhites can extend the undefeated Premier League run to 12 games (W7, D4) against Fulham.
The Cottagers claimed their first EPL win of the season against the previously undefeated Brighton 2-1, so Spurs will need to be careful in this fixture.
At the pre-game press conference Conte made it clear he was impressed with Fulham's play and that Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrović was a dangerous player with 5 goals in his last 5 games.
Fulham Head coach Marco Silva, has, for a fifth consecutive time, opened a new league season (EPL or Championship) with two wins from his first five games.
However, he has yet to beat Tottenham after five attempts (D3, L2).
Silva has conceded 17 goals against Spurs, with three different clubs and current side Fulham have kept only one clean sheet this season, away at Wolves.
Liverpool have kept 12 clean sheets in 2022, Tottenham and Manchester City have kept 11.
Harry Kane has scored in each of his last three home appearances against Fulham (W2, D1).
Four of Aleksandar Mitrović’s five EPL goals this season have been scored after half-time/
Tottenham have won 14 of the 17 Premier League matches that we have started as the bookmakers home favourites (L3) since the beginning of 2021/22.

Why is Roadsweeper Ron an object of contempt but never coke-sniffing Councilor Clarice or ignorant Office Manager Martin.
Living as I do in a very mixed area, there are working class people whose sense, intelligence and integrity I respect a great deal more that some of the wealthy, entitled new arrivals who selfishly want to shape the world in their unpleasant image.
Road Sweeper Ronnie is a symbol of the individual who hasn't got on, who supports the club only if it adheres to his idea of how it should be run.
The post makes it clear the difference between the though process of management and worker and the point is that the boss sees things differently than the worker.
The company goals, the only goal that matters, is not the workers goal so every time the worker judges against his goal, he is wrong.
Only when he understands the company goal and assesses everything against the company goal, can his opinion be taken seriously.
A boss does not mean just the chairman or CEO but any manager who runs their department in the right manner. A manager who doesn't…
Anyway, what a solid performance against Fulham. COYS!
