Man Utd 1st Spurs 2nd Arsenal up to 3rd

Adjusted Premier League Table

This has been the best start to a Spurs season since 2016/17 when Spurs finished runners-up to a Chelsea team managed by Antonio Conte.

Harry Kane has noscored 43 London Derby goals, moving level with record holder Thierry Henry.

Tottenham have nowon the first three home games of the season. The last time we achieved the feat was the 2002/03 season.

In addition  we remain unbeaten this season and are no on a 12 game unbeaten run (W8 D4).

Tottenham continued the 'containing football' that Antonio Conte plays to such great effect, a brand of football that Spurs fans are Spurs reporters have not got used to yet.

Spurs ARE NOT playing badly.

The team is playing a contain the opposition game, with high quality attackers to win games.

Fulham have started the season well, but Spurs contained them and it as only from 83 minutes onward that Fulham held any danger, until then Mitrović was non existent.

Romero was clearly getting tired, having returned from injury and put in a very lazy half hearted challenge which Mitrović, to his credit, punished.

Son is showing signs of having lost a little confidence in front of goal to me, but that will return when the first one goes in and we'll see a celebration of relief as much as anything from him.

Richarlison demonstrated why Tottenham can not afford to make mistakes in the transfer market, as Antonio Conte pointed out in his post match press conference.

He has operated in all three front position no and looks comfortable in all three. He gives us a dangerous four to rotate up front, backed up by Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil, but you are stepping down a level to Moura and down another level to Gil.

Clément Lenglet, as expected, slotted straight in, he is a quality player, who, as I pointed out when we signed him, just needs to recover some confidence.

There are no qualms from me when I see his name on the team sheet and his experience, 160 Barcelona appearances, 157 LaLiga appearances, his quality and his Champions League experience, 43 games for Barcelona, allows us to rotate defenders.

Spurs Chat

Leicester City are proof, if ever it were needed, that Spurs are on the right track to win trophies regularly, the club aim and therefore the only aim that matters.

Why?

Well, look at them. Road Sweeper Ronnie believes if you buy buy buy and pay the wages, winning a trophy brings the money in to sustain that.

Leicester City prove it doesn't.

They failed to qualify for Europe and the players want out, they have stopped playing for the manager, Fofana has left and taken swipes at the club.

They had to cut their wage bill and are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League with six games gone.

Tradition has shown us that where you are after 10 games is roughly where you will finish the season, Leicester have problems.

Therefore, if the aim is to win trophies regularly, which it is, then the income must be generated outside the football field and Tottenham have been set up to do just that.

Road Sweeper Ronnie has different goals though, he wants one trophy and go from there, but Leicester prove without the income that is not sustainable.

It's a simple equation and the fact the club has been set up to now sustainably compete, with the annual investment the stadium provides, should be applauded by Road Sweeper Ronnie.

By assigning 21st place to the three promoted teams, we can calculate the approximate strength of the opposition played so far, based on last seasons form.

Simply add their finishing places together. A lower number indicate harder fixtures and a higher number indicates you have played teams who finished lower last season, therefore theoretically easier fixtures.

The updated table below shows the strength of the games played by the expected top six so far.

Hardest to Easiest Fixtures
Manchester United 52 places (12 pts) 0.2308 per place
Chelsea 67 places (10 pts) 0.1493 per place
Tottenham Hotspur 77 places (14 pts) 0.1818 per place
Arsenal 85 places (15 pts) 0.1767 per place
Manchester City 86 places (14 pts) 0.1628 per place
Liverpool 87 places (9 pts) 0.1034 per place

The number of points gained divided by the strength of the opposition (places figure) gives us a figure achieved per place.

This allows us to put together a league table showing howell teams are playing compared to their Top 6 rivals.

Points Per Places Played Table
1. Manchester United
2. Tottenham Hotspur
3. Arsenal
4. Manchester City
5. Chelsea
6. Liverpool

Manchester United move above Tottenham in the table having had the hardest start to the season of any of the expected Top 6.

Chelsea have had the next hardest set of fixtures but are not faring so well  by comparison.

Tottenham maintain good form and remain in the Top two. City drop a place to 4th despite winning and Arsenal climb above them despite losing.

All this indicates that our form is not bad, certainly not as bad as the Road Sweeper Ronnies suggest.
