What could be better.

Exclusive Spurs Chat

People and reporters all suggesting Son is a problem at the moment, out of form, yet Antonio Conte saw it differently.

Prior to yesterdays game Son had had 9 shots in 3 games with 5 of those being on target.

He had 3 goal creating actions to his name, last year he had 15 all season.

Son had an assist and was involved in the build up play of two other goals.

The majority look for the tragedy in everything, the doom and gloom, the successful look for the opportunity, they are the positive people.

Logic makes decisions, not emotion.

People buy on emotion not logic so the successful twist this to use logic and target people's emotions to make sales.

Those who do it better make more sales, simple.

That's what we had with the reporter in the pre-game press conference, he wanted a negative angle, Conte basically told him he's wrong and he wants to create trouble where there is none.

Every situation should be approached with a 'How do I Make this Work' approach rather than who is going to give me everything on a plate mentality.

Fabio Paratici will have his transfer budget and wages budget at the start of the window, know the club aims, the managers aims and formulates a 'How do I Make this Work' plan.

That has contingency plans, if this happens this is my plan, if that happens that is my plan and obviously that gets continually reassessed, and amended, which isn't as difficult as continually starting from scratch.

Paratici looks to have had three distinct plan within the overall plan, an early window plan, a mid-window plan and an end of window plan, that has been dictated by the moving on of unwanted players and a reassessment of the wages and transfer budgets accordingly.

We'll see what the last couple of days brings.

It's about looking at the bigger picture, not the immediate self interest picture.

It's the same with the growth of the club, followers don't see or don't want to wait or don't understand how a bigger goal is achieved.

Discussed this before, but you plan the bigger picture, then steps within that plan to goals along the way.

A club has to keep Financial Fair Play (FFP) in mind because what you spend now affects your FFP situation in the coming years.

Spurs are OK with FFP, Arsenal are flying close to the wind in the hope of getting Champions League football next season, same with Chelsea.

Infrastructure wise and the way the club is run is the envy of most other clubs in the Premier League because we are self sufficient, self  sustainable.

Our followers who hate us don't like that, but their opinion is immaterial anyway, they haven't a clue how to run a major organisation.

Spurs have grown this summer and will grow further next summer, evolution, not revolution, which is effectively what they call for.

One set want to 'game the system' and one set don't.

One set want 'short cuts' and one set see the same results can be achieved in a more sustainable way, a way that lasts over time.

One takes pride in a trophy, one takes pride in many trophies sustained over a longer period.

Spurs are growing and getting better that is obvious, yet some don't want that vibe surrounding a club, they are jealous of the Jone's next door and want to max out their credit cards to keep up believing it saves their face.

We all knowhere that leads.

I for one am very interested to see Chelsea over the next few years, I'd welcome Manchester United to pip them to fourth, with Tottenham comfortably in at least third of course.

I'm expecting Tottenham to get stronger and stronger off the pitch, while Chelsea perhaps diminish with the obvious resulting affect mirrored on the pitch.

That for me is where we are at right now.

Let's revisit it in 3 years and see how the landscape has changed.

Who Has Had The Easiest Opening Fixtures

Seven points from three games, one away against a Top 4 rival, only Liverpool have played one of the general Top 6 in Manchester United.

Manchester City have played one promoted team.
West Ham United away 7th
Bournemouth at home -
Newcastle United away 11th
Crystal Palace at home 12th
51
10 points

Liverpool have played two promoted teams.
Fulham away -
Crystal Palace at home 12th
Manchester United away 6th
Bournemouth at home -
60
5 points

Tottenham Hotspur have played one promoted team.
Southampton at home 15th
Chelsea away 3rd
Wolves at home 10th
Notts Forest away -
49
10 points

Chelsea have played no promoted teams.
Everton away 16th
Spurs at home 4th
Leeds United away 17th
Leicester City at home 8th
45
7 points

Manchester United have played no promoted teams.
Brighton at home 9th
Brentford away 13th
Liverpool at home 2nd
Southampton away 15th
39
6 points

Arsenal have played to promoted teams.
Crystal Palace away 12th
Leicester City at home 8th
Bournemouth away
Fulham at home
62
12 points

By assigning 21st place to any promoted team, that allows us to calculate an approximate strength of the opposition played so far, based on last seasons form.

Easiest to Hardest Fixtures
Arsenal 62 (12 pts) 0.1935 per place
Liverpool 60 (5 pts) 0.0833 per place
Manchester City 51 (10 pts) 0.1961 per place
Tottenham Hotspur 49 (10 pts) 0.2041 per place
Chelsea 45 (7 pts) 0.1556 per place
Manchester United 39 (6 pts) 0.1538 per place

So Arsenal have had the easiest start, followed by Liverpool and Manchester City with Manchester United having the toughest start.

Take the points gained (in Spurs example 10 pts) and divide them by the total places played ( 49 paces) and you get how many points have been scored per place played in the Premier League.

That calculation places Spurs top of these teams, followed by Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool.

Over a 38 game season that would mean Tottenham beating Man City by 3 points.

Notts Forest vs Spurs

This is Spurs best start to a Premier League season for 13 years.

An ideal first-half from Tottenham, an early lead, then the opportunity to play on the counter-attack, which perhaps we should have done better with.

The ball won in midfield, a quick counter, Kane out runs his marker, a decent ball from Kulusevski and an early shot from Kane, 1-0 Tottenham, 5 minutes gone.

Harry Kane scored in Tottenham's last game against Notts Forest in 2014 and eight years later he gets two.

From the moment his first goal went in, the best team in the league without the ball were quite happy for the opposition to have the ball and the best counter attacking team in the league played on the break.

Pre-season we saw Spurs playing some lovely one touch passing and today was perhaps the first time we have seen that in the Premier League to any extent.

There were still niggling things like Davinson Sánchez passing backwards when there wasn't anyone within 20 yards of him, which ended us with us being forced back to Hugo Lloris.

Why put ourselves under that pressure when there was absolutely no need for it?

It's frustrating, he might be OK for games like this but not for the next level.

Sessegnon broke in the second half and had a ball across to an unmarked Kane but didn't play it, delayed and the crossing opportunity was gone.

That shows the difference between him and Perišić.

Son again had the chance to pass to Perišić or Kane unmarked but took a shot straight at the keeper. That's the lot of an attacker, being selfish sometimes pays off, sometimes it doesn't.

That is three times in four games no so he has to be careful in his desire to score his first goal of the season.

Minor points of improvement but Notts Forest never really looked likely to score.

For the second half of the second half Tottenham simply left attacking to the front three.

Solid defence and you guys go and do your stuff, they did.

Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 81

Why is that important?

Because Brazilian Renan Lodi is the Atlético Madrid left-back which now leaves the way open for homegrown Spaniard Sergio Reguilón to join them and not stay at Tottenham as has been suggested by our press.

The deal between Tottenham and Atléti is basically in place and has been waiting for Lodi to agree personal terms with Forest.

Now the path is clear and contracts ere already being prepared. A loan move with no buy option unfortunately.

Atlético are already selling tickets for Reguilón's presentation if you have any doubts.

He knows LaLiga, he knows the language, he's playing for a top team, he's in the Champions League, he gets to play regular football, he's in the shop window, it's an excellent move for him.

Reguilón travels to Madrid today for his medical.

The Valencia head coach has informed the press that Spurs have told him that signing a replacement for Bryan Gil is 99% complete and he'll be released when it's completed.
