Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 57

Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 57

It's Friday, it's a crackerjack of a day, or it will be later, it's only 4am, the Jag is booked in to replace the fuel filter and it's Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 57, what more could you want.

I jump on social media at the crack of dawn and I see a post telling me the mob are complaining about our transfer window, yet again before it is shut.

It just goes to show that no matter what the club do, the agenda driven will always hang onto their hatred and thus actively look for the negative in any given situation.

That, as you know, is a failure trait and opinions from those mentalities should simply be tossed out the window.

The trouble with the agenda folk, is they have no idea about creating a team, they merely ant names, regardless of whether they fit a system or not.

Their agenda over certain players clouds rational judgement.

As you know I am not a Davinson Sánchez fan, so I notice the mistakes he makes more than others because my mind is looking for them, but you haven't heard me say this window that he must be replaced.

There are others further down the pecking order to deal with, I understand that so it would serve no useful purpose ranting and raving about my desire, the team desire is what matters or more accurately, Conte's desire that matters.

Quite frankly, nothing else matters.

The central attacking midfielder that our system doesn't use is the biggest bone in contention perhaps.

The suggestion is it would help us breakdown a low block (packed defence) but through is not the way to beat a packed defence.

Christian Eriksen couldn't unlock a packed defence, he played poorly in such games, was ineffective, that is conveniently forgotten.

You see teams struggle all the time to get through a packed defence and if you stop to think about it, it is obvious why.

A packed defence means there is less space, players are closer together, thus there is less room to play a pass into.

The general assumption is that you give a creative central attacking midfielder a ball and he will come up with a piece of genius ith a pass nobody else can see.

That is a rarity and only usually occurs when there are spaces to play a ball into.

The team have to create the space, the team have to move the ball around to move the opposition around and that has to be done at pace otherwise the defence just stays packed together shuffling back and forth across the field.

The reason we defend is we want the space to break into, we want teams to expose themselves so we can cut them open.

So how do you beat a packed defence?

There are two ways really, round them or over them.

Through them requires intricate passing from many, not one attacking midfielder and there are always legs and another body to stop anything.

Over the top means you have to draw the defence out, if they sit back, over the top becomes very difficult, there isn't the space to play the ball into and any strike isn't going to be an easy one central straight in front of goal.

It is more likely to be wider, thus giving the keeper greater chances with a narrower angle. You also need strikers alert to it, not so easy if such a pass is off the cuff. then I can get a shot away

If your striker is assessing the situation thinking if the he plays the ball into area A, then his mind and body are ready to go to that area ahead of the defenders.

However, if our mystical creative midfielder is thinking I could chip the ball into area B then he isn't on the same wavelength as the striker.

The whole point of such a pass is that your striker is expecting it and he defence are not, giving the attacking team the advantage.

Who is the attacking midfielder at Liverpool?

Their most creative players are their full-backs, in other words, going round teams, not through them.

Manchester City score a lot of goals by one wide man putting the ball across the 6-yard box, having got in behind the defence and the other wide man tapping it in.

Raheem Sterling scored a lot of goals that way.

That is far more important than an attacking midfielder, yet to many of our fanbase an attacking midfielder is the holy grail.

I repeat, here does he fit in the system?

We play with two central midfielders who must both be able to defend.

Who do you drop to play a central attacking midfielder?

Kane, Son, Kulusevski, Bentancur or Højbjerg?

He either has to be a defensive midfielder with a range of passing or you have to change the system and what is the point of training and learning a system, if you are then going to change it?

A central attacking midfielder worth his salt is going to want to play all the big games, but the big games are when you rely on your system, in which he doesn't fit.

Why do we want ball-playing centre-backs, like Lenglet?

Because of their passing, Lenglet has a great left foot, his crossfield passing to Kulusevski will be a feature of his play.

Romero looks for the long ball to Son, Dier looks for the long ball to either.

We try to find them where they have space to work.

You will have noticed, I hope, our one touch football in the pre-season games. Clearly within our system, players are being taught how to move off the ball to receive a ball and where they should immediately play it to.

Now to create a passage of play involves a lot of players doing the same thing, all moving to pre-planned positions to receive a ball and almost pass it blind to the next guy.

In theory, you should be able to play a series of these moves blindfolded.

Now, why do you need a central attacking midfielder for that?

You don't.

Conte doesn't want a one-trick pony, he wants players who can play in several attacking positions, hence the attacking midfielder needs to be able to play out wide and defend.

You will remember that Christian Eriksen often played from either wing for us and had to learn the defensive side of the game.

Zaniolo is Conte's choice, followed by Paqueta.

I respect his decision, rather than insist on Maddison.

The club have pointed out the homegrown issues, Conte is aware of them, but he still prefers Zaniolo.

Daniel Levy has therefore respected that decision and Fabio Paratici is attempting to put a deal together, while also trying to offload some players into the deal.

Anti-ENIC Social Media Exchange

Why, 3 days before a season is a supposed supporter bashing the club?

I thought I'd help him out a little and give him an answer that I guessed would be beyond his agenda obsessed mind.

It was.

The amusing exchange (from my point of view) was as follows.

Now clearly, as expected, my reply was too intelligent for him but his bio in his profile is comical, but I'll come to that in a minute.

I did have a giggle.

And of course he then resorted to personal abuse, as they all do when they have been shown to be wrong.

Blocked as a result naturally.

But the point I made there is very relevant, people with a positive outlook do see more than people with a negative outlook, it's the open mind, closed mind syndrome.

Inventions and advancements in science, aviation or sporting achievement are not made by negative people.

You can see a negative of course, but seeing a negative and being negative are two different things.

We take you back to the point that not a single anti-ENIC, anti-Levy follower of Tottenham has been able to come up with a coherent plan to replace them and take the club forward.

It would take a positive outlook to do that!

Ask yourselves, how would you take the club forward to rival Barcelona and Real Madrid in the financial stakes and thus the playing stakes?

Barcelona have raised EUR300m (£251m) by selling 15% of their broadcasting rights for the next 25 years to get themselves out of financial difficulty now.

ENIC have built a stadium that will generate that in increased income in a year without giving away future income.

You have to be a bit of an imbecile to not understand the benefits that brings to the playing squad.

Generate money coming in before you pay it out and if the club itself generates that income then it is guaranteed on an on-going basis whoever owns the club.

We have massively improved under Conte and backed him over the playing side, bringing in players he wanted brought in and we are still trying to bring in further players he wants, like Zaniolo.

Conte himself has said it will take time to build the squad, so why do some fans not listen to him, does he not know more about our situation and ho to improve it than a negative man in the street?

Of course he does, so simply put your on agenda to one side, back the manager, back the club, open your eyes to the future the club is building and you'll see stacks of positive things to elevate yourself with.

Negativity is an elevator going down, positivity is an elevator going up.

Which floor would you like.

Antonio Conte Sky Italia interview

Antonio Conte spoke about the prospects for the new Premier League season.

"In England, for history and investments, there are four clubs that start in front of everyone: Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.

"Chelsea have replaced Lukaku and Rudiger with Sterling and Koulibaly, Manchester United have a lot of fans and can spend, but not always who spends wins.

"Two years ago United were behind City, then bought CR7, Sancho and Varane, but finished sixth.

“It is a championship [Premier League] in which we must maintain certain balances in order not to slip. We don't have to be arrogant or presumptuous.

"We have started a serious path, made up of work and thoughtful choices, but to win the title we need other steps.

Conte then spoke about the pre-season, which ended pending the start of the championship.

"It went well, but it was tiring because we travelled between Korea and Israel. We worked a lot, both tactically and physically.

"New players like Perisic, fresh from an injury last year, and Bissouma, who took Covid and arrived a week later due to the national teams.
"There were small setbacks, but I'm happy to be able to continue working on an idea from last year, without starting from scratch like in November.

"It was tough because you have to bring your idea from scratch. As already mentioned, we must not be presumptuous and arrogant and we must not think that in just 7 months we have reduced a gap that has existed for a very long time with Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea."

Selling Tickets

I find the selling of match day tickets for above face value to be abhorrent myself and should result in the removal of all ticketing rights permanently.

A ticket is to watch the game, a few should not be sold for above their price to get the cost of your season ticket back.

If anyone can not attend then the club should be informed and it is they ho should then be able to sell that seat to someone else on the day in person only.

I can see that this might cause legal issues though, selling the same seat twice so the individual would have to receive a pro-rata reimbursement if they can not attend.

It should, am I'm sure it is, be noted how many time each season ticket holder sells their ticket.

A member of staff should be trolling through all the ticket sites and social media, forums to find people selling tickets and make enquiries.

Pape Mata Sarr

Ac Milan continue to talk to Tottenham about the potential transfer of Pape Mata Sarr.

AC Milan have proposed a season-long loan ith an option to buy clause while Spurs are asking for an obligation to buy clause.

This tells me that Antonio Conte has decided that Sarr ill not get to the level he wants from a player and can thus be sold, not loaned and returned.

Japhet Tanganga

AC Milan, Roma, Inter Milan and Valencia are just some of the clubs who want to take Japhet Tanganga on loan.

Tottenham insist on an obligation to buy and not option, but if a deal can't be done before the window closes then we would have to relent.

Centre-back Tanganga was offered to Roma in part exchange for Zaniolo, along with midfielder Tanguy Ndombele during talks, but Mourinho wanted Oliver Skipp instead.

Destiny Udogie

I revealed earlier in the window Spurs interest in highly-rated Udinese left-back Destiny Udogie.

The 19-year-old (20 in November) Italian U-21 international (4 caps) impressed everyone last season so much so that there a host of clubs following him, including Manchester City, who have made an enquiry, Inter Milan and Brighton.

Spurs are proposing purchasing him and loaning him back for the season to gain further experience.

The man to follow for Spurs news from Italy, Gianluca Di Marzio suggests we have made a €25m (£20.91m) including bonuses offer for him.

Another good season and his price will shoot up, he is regarded as the best young full-back in Italy.

Antonio Conte

Antonio Conte on Tottenham's chances of winning the Premier League:

"We have started a serious path, made up of work and thoughtful choices, but the club needs to take other steps before thinking of being a title contender from the start."

Antonio Conte on Tottenham signing Ivan Perišić:

"He is certainly a player who has reached an incredible maturity from all points of view. Let's not forget that he won with several clubs and made a World Cup final. His experience will be important for us."

Men’s Hockey World Cup 2026

England Hockey combining with Hockey Wales have put forward a bid to host the FIH Hockey Men’s Hockey World Cup in 2026.

One of the venues in the bid is the 62,850-seat Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where they intend to hold the Finals Weekend.

The International Hockey Federation (FIH) have received competing bids from Germany, South Africa and a joint bid from Belgium/Netherlands.

Harry Kane is backing the bid.

I could have put so much more in the edition, like discussing the Conte Sky Italia Interview (Gianluca Di Marzio!) but I'll leave it there.
