Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 46

Welcome to the Spurs Summer Transfer Window Day 46 and thank you all for your support.

I refer to my piece yesterday after allowing a comment through that was inaccurate in it's assumption, despite being corrected in an earlier post.

I'll ignore this commenter in future given he insists on being dishonest. It might be anonymous but it plainly obvious to me it's the same guy who hurls abuse regularly as he views everything through his agenda, thus distorts everything.

Even today he has made further dishonest comments despite being independently corrected.

I gave him a chance, no more.

But doesn't this just explain why the anti-Levy people have been wrong all along, that they haven't understood and refuse to understand (more accurately) how consistent success is built.

Their gamble with the clubs future policy towards winning a trophy could well have seen us relegated again by now, what it wouldn't have done is make us a regular top 4 club.

Daniel Levy has put the infrastructure in place, as any hugely successful entrepreneur will tell you you must, and we have brought in Antonio Conte to turn the playing side into a successful outfit, backed up by the finance the infrastructure generates.

It is people like this who get conned by journalists. If one writes something that is an unresearched opinion, then they all copy it to give it credibility.

Then foreign journalists write what our papers have written and our journalists re-report what the foreign journalists say.

So something that isn't true, like Memphis Depay has turned us down, gains the credence in many circles that it doesn't deserve.

If you remember my UEFA Champions League explanation post where I explained we have NO Champions League places available for non-homegrown players at present, demonstrates it is impossible for Spurs to sign him, if we wanted to, at present.

The facts are different from what is written, we can't sign him so therefore he has turned us down!

My uncle was in the press game, I know how it works, hence why I have no time for journalists, I see what they are doing, but there will always be gullible people to lap it up.

COYS

Spurs vs Roma

Paulo Dybala is expected to make his debut for Roma in the upcoming friendly against Tottenham on Saturday 30th July at the Sammy Ofer Stadium in Israel.

The Sammy Ofer Stadium is also known as Haifa Municipal Stadium. It is a multi-purpose stadium in Haifa, Israel that seats 30,780 spectators.

Japhet Tanganga

AC Milan trying to lower the €20m (£17.02m - US$20.43m - AUS$29.48m) asking price for 22-year-old (23 in August) Evan Ndicka, the Eintracht Frankfurt central defender instead of taking Japhet Tanganga on loan with an option to buy.

The stumbling block is that Fabio Paratici is asking for an obligation to buy clause at €20m (£17.02m - US$20.43m - AUS$29.48m) and not an option to buy for the 23-year-old (24 next March) centre-back.

They have a gap in their defence because 27-year-old (28 next January) Alessio Romagnoli left as a free agent for Lazio.

Doesn't this just demonstrate how little money there is around in Italian football at the moment, AC Milan are the current Serie A champions yet are on a very tight budget.

Nicolò Zaniolo

Roma have refused an offer from Spurs for Nicolò Zaniolo of about €29.35 million (£25m - US$20.43m - AUS$43.25m) plus Welsh international centre-back Joe Rodon.

The Giallorossi evaluation remains fixed at €50 million (£42.52m - US$51.05m - AUS$73.68m).

Djed Spence

Djed Spence misconception.

Djed Spence was fully discussed with Antonio Conte before he gave his approval.

Conte needed more homegrown players so it was a question of where we can make a compromise for the right price and his t plus value made him the clubs choice.

Understanding the need, Conte agreed to his purchase. He has not been bought against the wishes of Conte or behind his back, there has been full consultation and agreement.

I thought, despite one misplaced pass, I liked what I saw of Spence against Rangers in his brief appearance.

He looks to me as if he could develop into a very decent player indeed, although we don't yet know what his delivery is like and that is rather important.

Matt Doherty is receiving plenty of inquiries and being homegrown for the Premier League will be easier to sell perhaps than Emerson Royal.

I can see him developing past Doherty and Emerson Royal, who remember, has never played wing-back before so is learning the role.

Eric Dier on this summer under Conte:

“There’s definitely a different feeling to what I’ve had before here, just because of the amount of signings before pre-season.”

“I think the new boys are settling in really well. It’s been quite seamless, their transition.”

Conte on summer signings:
“Richy for sure is a player that we signed to improve the quality of the squad.

“Also the possibility to make rotations with players that don’t drop the level.

“If you want to be competitive and become a strong team, the squad has to be with at least 16, 17, 18 players that has to keep the same level, not the level up and then the other level medium, otherwise you are not competitive.

“I think with the club we have started, but we have just started to do this improvement, to try to have the possibility during the game, with the five substitutions, and in between one game and another game with the Champions League to make rotations.

“The situation I think it’s too vital for me and especially if we want to have ambition. Then one game we’re going to play one player and another game another player, but they need to be able to play 90 minutes, 70 minutes, 30 minutes, the most important thing is that when they go on the pitch they are effective.

“The impact has to be terrific for the opponent, not for us. I think that we worked in this aspect with the club but you know that we have just started this process, to bring and to improve step by step the squad.”
