The Match Day Chatter Piece

The Match Day Chatter Piece

Spurs vs Southampton

I see Matt Hughes for the Daily Mail came out with a dishonest piece on 4th February as he claimed Fabio Paratici is 'feeling the heat' after January window woes, which is complete nonsense and that Conte is frustrated with Daniel Levy, which is again a total fabrication.

It is articles like this that influence people and pander to the anti crowd for advertising clicks that show the main stream media is totally untrustworthy in the modern world.

Neither of the two statements are true.

He claims Paratici has had an 'underwhelming' start, again untrue, he has to be assessed against his and the club goals, not a supporters agenda driven goals.

He clearly doesn't understand the concept of buying a player to develop for the future (Gil) and the 15 minute cameo of Bentacour has made him look particularly stupid.

You go on forums and the article is ridiculed by our fans.

Did you enjoy the game against Brighton.

Their boss Graham Potter said afterwards that Tottenham were the better team and deserved to win, he didn't make excuses about mistakes.

Did you enjoy the style of play though?

The concept was the same as the last two managers, Mourinho and Nuno, defend and hit them on the break...

Except we are doing everything better.

We are pressing better, we are defending better, we are breaking better, we are creating more and I think the players are enjoying it more now that we are back on an upward trajectory.

That should please every supporter.

Therefore articles about us should be positive...

But they aren't because of you, the agenda driven fan.

You are trying to create a failure environment around the club...

Which in no way constitutes support.

Every fan should be creating a winning environment, a winning feeling about the club to help us win things...

To help us through barriers.

It's nonsensical that they don't.

We make new signings, who have impressed and all the agenda driven can do is protest and complain.

Shouldn't we just be enjoying the football, we can all see trophies are getting nearer again with the revenue the new stadium will and is generating.

Perhaps fans need reminding that we have not yet had a full season of supporters in it!

Life is to enjoy, bloody enjoy it...

Look for the positive...

Look for what makes you happy for goodness sake.

On Monday we had a char about various aspects of the game that we could work on and a post that gave you food for thought.

On Tuesday we looked at the potential for more transfers from Juventus.

Today we have a game against Southampton so I'll produce a few statistics for you but before I do, David Moyes and West Ham United showed they had no morals or ethics by selecting animal abuser Kurt Zouma simply because he is one of their best players.

You may have seen the video of him kicking his cat, something for which the RSPCA should prosecute him.

What is the point on sending him on an educational course, it doesn't change his character in the slightest, it's just a way for the people holding the course to earn money, as they get paid for each person they successfully put through their course, hence why nobody fails.

My ex-boss worked in that field and the funding is all about numbers.

While we are talking funding, the money you give to charity doesn't actually go on charitable work.

Often only about 25% of it does so it is well worth asking before you donate as most goes on paying the charities employees wages.

Take the Captain Tom Foundation.

I took over £1m in donations from May 2020 to May 2021 and the accounts show it paid out more in admin than it did grants!

The 4 grants it gave totalled a disgracefully low £162,000.

Oher expenses:
  • £240,000 on fundraising & admin
  • £162,336 on management fee
  • £126,424 on consultancy fees
  • £20,884 on advertising & marketing

Again, the bottom line is that it's all image rather than action, same as West Ham.

Right let's move onto our next game tonight where we host Southampton.

Spurs haven’t lost in five H2Hs (W3, D2).

Conte has an unbeaten managerial record (W5, D1) against the ‘Saints’.

We are the FA Cup's all-time leading scorers and in the Premier League have now gone five home league games unbeaten (W4, D1), indeed our only Premier League defeat since Conte arrived was the defeat to Chelsea, the UEFA Champions League winners.

Southampton needed extra-time to beat Coventry City 2-1 in the cup, but their 1-1 draw against Manchester City in their last Premier League outing shows that on their day, and particularly at home, they’re a match for any side despite their mid-table position.

The game however is at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where we have scored 16 goals and conceded 10 in taking 22 out of a possible 30 points.

Southampton have taken 9 points out of a possible 33 away from St Mary's, scoring 12 goals and letting in 24.

The Saints are unbeaten across the last six Premier League games in which they netted the opener (W2, D4).

The South coast club have just one win in six Premier League away matches (D1, L4), conceding 2+ goals in each of those fixtures.

Once breached, the floodgates tend to open too as they are the Premier League’s only team that are yet to finish an away league game having conceded exactly once this season!

Harry Kane has scored 11 times in 13 PL appearances against Southampton, with five of his last six such strikes coming before half-time.

Heung-min Son has scored 9 times.

Kyle Walker-Peters has scored in each of Southampton's last two matches.

Tottenham are the only club with a 100% record (W6) when starting as home favourites in the Premier League this season.

The conclusions are obvious so let'shope the game goes to plan.

Have a great day.
