Spurs, the richest club in the world in 2 years
It could take just 2 years to eclipse Manchester City
First written in January 2022, now updated, but let's remind ourselves of my bold claims.
A couple of things to chat about today.
Premier League Protecting Arsenal
Firstly, the Premier League still have not said whether the people who made the decision to help Arsenal out by cancelling a game when they only had 1 Covid case, had Arsenal associations.
They refused to answer that in their first reply to my complaint, that took two emails to get a response, despite asking for confirmation of receipt.
I sent off a third email again asking the names of the people who made the decision and whether they had Arsenal connections.
No reply received to date.
No reply ever received, they wished to cover that up.
Premier League Protect Chelsea
Then, of course, we had the Chelsea 'gas' tweet during our game with them.
This is totally unacceptable.
Just 2 years on Sir Keir Starmer wants to jail people for Facebook posts or X (formerly Twitter) comments under his totalitarian regime!
You can't ask us to stop using the Yid word if you allow a club, not a fan, an official Chelsea club social media account, to use it.
How can you tell fans not to make gas references (which are reminders of the Jews being exterminated at death camps like Auschwitz by Socialist Adolf Hitler) if you allow a club to do so without taking any disciplinary action against them.
I emailed the Premier League CEO Richard Masters and asked if he would be investigating and if the Premier League would take disciplinary action or give their backing to it by doing nothing and ignoring it.
They haven't bothered to answer that either.
Incidentally, the same 'cause chaos' so the people elect someone who will take more state control is exactly how Adolf Hitler began, also silencing detractors as Starmer has done with the press through superinjunctions and a Times journalist sued over his private life by a Baroness for him.
If you have read Animal Farm you should be frightened by what you are seeing and hearing, it's totalitarian communism dressed up.
A wolf in sheep's clothing.
Control the media narrative and you control the people.
Starmer and the EU are both about taking your freedom away from you, taking democracy away from you.
Socialism leads to poverty, war and death.
Socialist Tony Blair was a war monger and he was made a peace envoy!
No wonder the Middle East is at war.
Starmer uses the same tactics as Putin, another who has started a war.
China is using military power to try and expand and subjugate more people.
Anyway, on with the post.
Secondly, the Twitterati, with an emphasis on Twit, seem incapable of understanding that you build something brick by brick.
You build the foundations, stadium, training facilities and commercial opportunities, first.
Any success-orientated individual who has achieved that success will tell you that you surround yourself with the image of success and act successfully before you achieve your success.
Take a car, you don't go out and buy an expensive car, rather you'd rent one or buy a top-of-the-range older car with a high mileage.
It's the appearance that counts.
You'll attract others to you, just as Tottenham building a magnificent training centre and top-of-the-range stadium will do, as well as generating the money we need, in the case of the stadium.
We can see this being played out with the quality of youngsters keen to come to us rather than other clubs, Bergvall turned down Barcelona to join Tottenham Hotspur instead..
I still see some of our challenged fans complaining about non-football events, oblivious to the fact this is where the money comes from that they want the club to spend!
It baffles me how people have been so poorly educated that they can't take that in.
I'd argue that there is a need to educate fans and then their incessant anti-Spurs drivel would dry up.
They would understand the process and that might help them achieve more in their own lives too.
So how can the club educate the seemingly uneducable?
Well, it needs to be done through drip-feeding them stories.
For instance, there is no point telling fans what the club vision is just once, 99% of them have forgotten what it is.
When something new happens it needs to be explained and explained how it fits into that overall vision.
It needs to demonstrate it is an integral part of the clubs growth to regular trophies.
You don't just explain you have built a fantastic training centre, the fan wants to know how that helps win a trophy and yes, some of them do need it explaining to them as they genuinely don't understand.
Do that all the time and you get buy-in, they buy into the vision and back it over the short termism we see now.
Without a trophy since 2008 that short termism is understandable but it does nothing to help the club long term, indeed it could destroy it, without it being a part of something bigger.
I would like to see the club release articles, perhaps through the website or YouTube that explain the process of scouting, of player recruitment and of the object of the transfer window that has just passed, each time one passes.
I appreciate you can't announce to the world your plans in advance but there are things you can reveal after the event, that don't affect future windows... so tell us.
Pass on the ups and downs, reveal some, not all, but some of the stories led out in the press, some that weren't and have Fabio Paratici or a regular spokesman tell us how this fits our overall plan.
Spurs are in an entertainment industry with a captive audience.
Tell us how we are growing that audience and educate that audience in a manner that no other club does.
Senior figures in the game see Daniel Levy as one of the best chairman in the league, yet fans see him as one of the worst.
That just demonstrates the fans need educating.
It is water off a ducks back to ENIC and Levy, they take no notice, but it provides an opportunity to bring the fan and the club together, not through the THST agenda dialogue, but through general education pieces direct to the fanbase.
Content from the club will be lapped up and creates more discussion points, essential for brand awareness, thus increasing the fanbase and creating opportunities for greater sponsorship deals.
Explain to people player values and amortisation, how it affects their value, how the length of a contract affects value and so on.
Content should not be generic to try and appeal to everyone, there should be specific content like this for those interested. You get others interested, you'll get more supporting the club vision and less whinging.
I have often spoken about the need to drastically improve Spurs TV from its star-struck presenters with, let's be honest, pretty poor questions and I have to admit they have raised the quality, but there is plenty further to go with the channel.
It is totally underdeveloped as a communication vehicle and a commercial vehicle.
Why not develop it into a TV channel in it's own right that receives income through adverts and has Tottenham news content that every fan wants to know.
I feel the content isn't compelling.
Player interviews and learn about a player are bland, nobody really tells you anything.
If you are going to tell us about Brennan Johnson for instance, then why not make it a documentary about his life, his upbringing into football, his journey to where he is today.
Create something interesting I'd rather watch than what's on TV, because that is what you are competing against.
Is there a whole series about the history of Spurs?
Take us through Tottenham Hotspur: The Complete History, available from the club shop.
Pluck a picture out and talk about it.
If necessary, get a known TV face who is a Spurs fan to tell the story, either for a series or a different one for each set of pictures that programme covers.
Why not have a daily 'media' news section to talk about the stories in the news (we see stacks of fans now doing this on YouTube years after I suggested this).
A skill 'Play the Game' section for children to learn from. Take a piece of skill from a game and recreate it with players or development players or show a coach teaching it for youngsters to recreate at home.
Go behind the scenes with footage available nowhere else, the medical department for instance.
Create a series with a player recovering from an injury, he has time on his hands, he/she can't train so let's all follow his/her progress.
We could create a whole series out of Richarlison! educational pieces I have talked about.
There could be programmes about how the kit is made, interviews with commercial sponsors and the benefits they get from their deal with Tottenham, news on the foundation work, programmes on the brewery, the bakery etc.
There should be plenty of content of the academy, of youngsters, of possible future stars and a discussion of the barriers they are going to face, the mental challenges ahead.
Explain how the academy pays for itself, show old games and youth games.
You can see some of these ideas I wrote about being implemented.
Quite frankly, every U-23 game should be covered, why not every U-18 game or at least a highlights programme.
A highlights reel of each player may help player sales and loans.
I understand the club sends out a video to potential transfer targets when we send them an offer, is that available to us via SpursPlay?
A programme about the operation of the club shop, much like we see programmes of other workers on TV, follow the groundsmen, match day stewards, people lap up this reality type documentary stuff.
Let's go into the kitchen, talk nutrition, preparing food, talk a career as a chef, talk to children about healthy eating and why. They will want yo eat what their hero eats so if it can be cheaply created, teach the parents to make it.
Spaghetti is dirt cheap, teach non-cooks how to prepare a simple meal for their football-mad child. Have them help you in the kitchen, great for family bonding.
- You are getting them to eat healthy
- You are giving them the seed of how to cook, of being independent
- You are sharing time and an activity with your child
I'm touching on things here and you might not instantly see the benefits if you aren't taking the time to think about my posts so let's expand a little for you, using cooking as an example.
Take someone like Richarlison or Odebert, both injured at the moment. Have them cook something, use our chefs or bring in a celebrity chef (preferably a Spurs fan) and all work together.
You could make something like this and sell it to networks around the world, it could be a money-spinner.
1. Promoting Positive Role Models and Behaviours:
- By involving Spurs players in the cooking and nutrition discussions, children see their heroes engaging in everyday activities, making them more relatable. This promotes positive role models and can encourage children to emulate these healthy behaviours both on and off the pitch.
2. Enhanced Community Engagement:
- This type of content fosters a deeper connection with fans by showcasing a different side of the players, making the club feel more inclusive and accessible. It can also serve as a bridge for community outreach, encouraging families to come together for club-led initiatives.
Remember we have a Spurs Foundation that could run community events alongside the airing of these programmes. That is a SpursPlay TV opportunity in itself.
Incidetally does SpursPlay talk about the Spurs Foundation and report on its work?
3. Practical Life Skills for Children:
- Teaching kids how to prepare meals and understand nutrition sets them up with essential life skills that contribute to their future independence and self-sufficiency.
4. Encouraging Physical and Mental Well-being:
- Linking nutrition to physical performance and mental well-being helps children understand the direct impact of their dietary choices. This could further emphasize that being a footballer or athlete is about more than just training; it involves taking care of one's body and mind holistically.
5. Boosting the Club’s Image as a Family-Oriented Brand:
- Producing content like this demonstrates that Spurs care about their fans' well-being beyond the pitch. It positions the club as a family-oriented brand invested in the holistic development of its community and fanbase.
6. Potential Sponsorship Opportunities:
- Collaborating with nutrition or food brands could open new revenue streams. If executed well, it could also bring in cooking equipment brands or local food suppliers, providing financial and resource support for the initiative or it allows you to promote the purchasing department or internal opportunities like the bakery
Listing these additional benefits will show a comprehensive understanding of the value SpursPlay could offer. However, it's important not to overwhelm the audience, so perhaps grouping some benefits or prioritizing the most impactful ones would keep the message focused.
Do you start to see yet the potential at our fingertips that we are not yet utilizing?
A sales programme selling goods from the shop, a programme showing people how to buy online and what happens when they order something. There is a whole reality documentary here
Suggestions on how to kit out your son's or daughter's 'Spurs' bedroom with bulk buying discount for those kitting it out, suggesting it would make a great birthday or Christmas present.
Show people the DIY of how to do it. Cater for different budgets, even just painting suggestions, a white wall with navy blue curtains, have someone actually make a set to show parents how they could do it themselves.
All free to watch on Spurs TV or sell it to TV networks around the world, there is a fortune to be made selling content..
Would that also help to grow our fanbase if kids were tuning into Spurs TV instead of something else or seeing it on TV around the world?
The art of all this is telling it as a story.
You tell a story, people listen and take it in.
You just tell them something and it goes in one ear and out the other.
I could turn this club into the richest club in the world, through club-generated funds, in less than 2 years.
I wrote that in 2022 and we have wasted 2 years, we have grown yes, but not as far as I could have taken us.
Could I improve the playing staff and our coaching, yes I could teach Postecoglou something too.
I don't lack confidence in myself!
That's a winning mindset for you folks.
I have always won something in my second season, does that sound familiar!
I could take Spurs TV to another level.
I could increase our fanbase and thus our commercial income.
I hope you all have a fabulous day, as mine will be.
As a positive Spurs fan every day is a good day.

Adama Traoré - pleased we missed him.
Luis Díaz, we was trumped by Liverpool but it was because we was penny pinching again.
Dejan Kulusevski, yes I would like him in but I am not holding my breath given above.
Dusan Vlahovic, you was confident that he was coming to us in the summer?
Love the comment about Jorge Mendes, "the man is only interested in his own pocket". however this could equally apply to our leader Mr Levy.
I wonder what THST have done around either situation?
I quite like the idea that Spurs fans could thus become some of the most informed in the world about so many aspects of the business that are currently so misunderstood by fans everywhere. There are so many other benefits to the idea too that it seems a no-brainer to me. Perfect for this time of year. Someone could explain why the club are always so tight-lipped about their transfer dealings; what benefits accrue based on that approach; how fans should not assume no news means no action…
For the two clowns asking why I haven't responded to this comment, the answer is I don't spend all day on my blog, I have a life and will only read something when I actually log on which could be midnight or a few days later.
Engage you brain before you comment fellas. Your inane comments have obviously not passed moderation. The time now is 10:40pm.
Vlahovic promised Spurs he would sign in the summer and said to the media he would not move in January. He went back on his word and what he told the media was also not true.
Traore, who I have never expressed a desire to sign and have posted he has no end product, was all agreed until Mendes decided to move him to Barcelona where he'll sit on the bench.
It is a shame agents fee aren't made public as part of these deals so fans can see they sometimes earn from several sources for 1 deal.
Vlahovic's agent has earned over £10m from Juventus himself, quite apart from other sources.
It says a lot about the situation of Barcelona that they want to sign a player who might cause panic but has nothing to show for it.I'm not at all sorry we have missed out quite frankly.
Not great news but it is what it is.
