Friday is Tottenham Transfer Talk

Paulo-Dybala

A comment from Scottish Yiddo demonstrates the lack of understanding of buying and selling players that some of our fans have.

In our current situation with a stadium now generating the money we expected from it, we sell players not primarily to raise money, although that helps, but to release a squad place, before we buy.

That isn't the mantra in the media, they aren't bright enough to see that, and as fans take what they believe from the media, it is understandable these anti folk form incorrect opinions.

That should piss a few of them off (never a bad thing)!

First we have to bear in mind non-homegrown quotas and keep an eye on how they might change in the future.

We have to bear in mind who has been trained under the English FA, as opposed to the Welsh, Scottish, Irish or overseas associations.

The rules are of course different for European competition than they are for the Premier League.

Take the situation now.

We have the summer to think of and the players we will want to pursue, that obviously we would mostly already be in contact with, will need spaces available in the squad for them to fill.

Hence we need to sell players so they can fill the holes, otherwise we shoot ourselves in the foot and have to give away players for less than they are worth as clubs won't pay the going rate for a player they know we are not going to play.

We also would not want to pay two sets of wages.

It is common sense to sell before you buy, the trick is getting someone to buy early in the window instead of late.

The money is there for Spurs to buy in January, if and onlyif, the right player or players become available, but again you have to take into account what you want to spend in the summer, in other words you don't want to overcomit in the panic buying window.

Simon Jordan has been a club owner, chairman and knows a site more than any fan knows, he says it is only clubs that need to buy to avoid relegation who buy in January, noboby else needs to, everybody else basically waits until the summer when more players are available.

Why the agenda driven anti crowd can't understand that is a mystery, it is a fact of footballing life they ought to have grasped by now.

Doesn't fit their agenda though does it.

Regardless of what fans think, Paratici is trying to bring in new faces, but, AGENTS don't want to move their clients in January, they want more options for their clients in the summer.

I though I might as well piss a few more of you off at this stage and mention a player whom we are interested in that we'd like to develop.

He is a right-back at Derby County by the name of Festy Ebosele, who is Irish, of Nigerian decent, but arrived at Derby when he was 16, so will qualify as homegrown.

Ebosele is a 19-year-old (20 in August) now and his contract runs out in the summer.

Jessie Lingard is a free agent in the summer so we have spoken to his camp, he doesn't want to join a new club now, he'll get better wages and a better signing on fee in the summer and his agent will earn more from it too.

I see plenty of people complaining about Spurs losing Dilan Markanday, but he wants first team football now, however Conte doesn't think he is good enough so he isn't in his plans.

For me when he came on he looked like a kid against men and while he has skill, he doesn't have pace, which we require from our wing-backs.

The game today is about having a fast front three and Markanday doesn't fit the bill there either.

Despite that Tottenham offered him a contract with a loan and offered him help after that too, bur he and his family decided on a permanent move, hence his sale.

I have been asked about a striker from my neck of the woods who has joined Spurs on trial from Ramsgate, a Kent coastal town, very nice harbour and a WWII themed cafe.

My 91-year old Mum used to go there as a little girl for her holidays.

Anyway, Josh Ajayi has scored a stack of goals and has pace.

I can tell you that Ramsgate expect him to leave and have already signed a replacement, former Dartford, Margate (seaside town 5m from Ramsgate) and Sittingbourne striker Tom Bradbrook, who has ben out of the game a while.

Ajayi has gone from Ramsgate, playing in front of 700 spectators to training with our elite players.

We are casting an eye over him to see if he has what it takes, who knows when the next Jamie Vardy will be uncovered.

You may recall that the Tottenham Under 23 team played Ramsgate and beat them 6-0 in July last year.

Djed Spence you probably know about by now, he is another young Championship player we are looking at, although he can't play for another club until next season having already played for two this season..

Steve Hitchen is overseeing the Spurs scouting project for identifying young domestic talent.

We have Paratici and his team dealing with elite players and Hitchen dealing with young players who could develop into elite players.

Anyway, Spence is a 21-year old (22 in August) right-back at Middlesbrough, although he is on loan at Nottingham Forest at the moment and is valued at £12m (€14.43m - US$16.37m - AUS$22.70m).

Spurs have been keeping an eye on Peterborough midfielder Benjamin Mensah for quite a while now and we have made an enquiry about his availability, report the Peterborough Telegraph.

The 19-year-old (20 in December) has been discussed by Spurs with Barry Fry, the Peterborough Director of Football as he revealed through the clubs social media.

“I have talked to Tottenham and they have suggested one or two things to me which I told the manager and the chairman about but they were adamant it was a no. Tottenham are still monitoring the situation.”

Paulo Dybala

There is a lot of speculation in the media about Dybala perhaps leaving Juventus as a free agent in the summer because he is refusing to sign the contract being offered on the terms it is being offered.

He wants to stay at Juventus as I have mentioned before and the club want him to stay.

Tottenham are mentioned about getting him to sign a pre-contract agreement to move in the summer but that isn't going to happen because he has a meeting planned with Juventus in February.

Among Juventus players in Serie A this season, Paulo Dybala ranks highest for shot-creating actions (64), shots (63), goal-creating actions (8), goals (7) and assists (3).

Steven Bergwijn

Ajax are about £7m away from where Tottenham want them to be for Netherlands international winger Steven Bergwijn who Antonio Conte has reiterated is an important player for him.

Bergwijn wanted to return home for family reasons but Conte's press conference suggested he has changed his mind.

Japhet Tanganga

AC Milan have offered us a loan move for Japhet Tanganga, with a purchase option in the summer.

We were previously asking for £20.79m (€25m - US$23.47m - AUS$30.84m) for him.

Fabio Paratici will decide over the weekend whether to accept the offer for the 22-year old (23 in March) who has been prone to a few errors this season.

The centre-back area is one where Antonio Conte would like to strengthen, not being convinced by Joe Rodon or Davinson Sánchez either.

Jonathan David

Tottenham have been in contact with French side Lille to ask about 22-year-old (23 next January) centre-forward Jonathan David.

The Canadian international (24 games, 18 goals,10 assists) striker is under contract with Lille until 2025.

This season in Ligue 1 he has scored 12goals in 21 games, a goal every 129 minutes.

He has also scored 3 goals in 6 UEFA Champions League games against Sevilla, RB Salzburg and Vfl Wolsburg.

The list of clubs interested in him is growing, Tottenham, Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Arsenal.

His agent told TSN Soccer last week that his client is not expected to move in January and that a summer move was more likely.
