Tottenham Transfer Talk

Gleison Bremer

Following Spurs being linked with Gleison Bremer, I took a look at some of his statistics and put some flesh on the bones of he being considered one of the top defenders this season in Serie A.

Gleison Bremer Silva Nascimento, sometimes known as just Bremer, is a Brazilian  who plays as a centre back for Italian club Torino.

The 24-year-old (25 next March) stands 6ft 2in (1.88m) tall and joined Italian club Torino on 10 July 2018, on a five-year deal.

Tottenham are rivalled by Liverpool and AC Milan in our attempts to sign him, or is Paratici simply lining up another possible deal to choose from.

Bremer is 78% right-footed and has scored 10 goals (2 assists) in 79 Serie A games.

He has picked up 12 yellow cards and two red cards in that time, suggesting he has a similar approach to our Argentinian signing Romero.

During his time at Torino he has had 53 shots, 20 of those on target (37.7%) from an average distance of 8.9 yards.

The Brazilian has made 3,487 passes for Torino in Serie A, completing 2,922 of them (83.8%).

He has made 13 shot creating actions in 14 games so offers something more than just defending.

This season Bremer has made:
  • 90 tackles and interceptions (64 interceptions 1st in Serie A)
  • 77 clearances (3rd in Serie A)
  • 37 blocks (2nd in Serie A)
  • won 64 headers (3rd best in Serie A)
  • lost 56 headers (53.3%)
His contract expires in 2023, but Torino President Urbano Cairo has offered him a contract extension until 2025.

A current fee in the Italian press is €25m (£21.38m - US$28.29m - AUS$40.39m)

Spurs have also been linked with fellow Torino players Wilfried Singo, a 20-year-old (21 on Christmas Day) right-back and 27-year-old (28 this month) striker Andrea Belotti.

Well that's it for this morning's offering folks.
