Tottenham Transfer Talk - Sunday
There are players Spurs continually get linked to and Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé is one of them.He has not wanted to leave Barcelona since he arrived with attitude problems and since with hundreds of days of injuries.
The Spaniards are talking with his agent about a new contract but they are cash strapped of course and still have to be very careful with their wage bill, unless they can offload some more high earners who are not first team starters regularly.
This season Dembélé has played 72 minutes of football across all competitions.
The dual footed right winger is out of contract in the summer and although we may be interested again, I don't see him moving to Spurs.
On 28 August, he had his medical before signing a five-year contract, with a buyout clause set at €400 million.
Since then he has only played 82 LaLiga games, scoring 18 goals and making 14 assists (6 yellow cards, 1 red).
As you can see from the table below, he has suffered quite a few hamstring injuries, missing 688 days through injury.
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo suggest Tottenham, which will be Paratici, have offered him a lucrative contract but he is naturally linked with all the other big clubs around Europe.
Their suggestion that Conte wants him to replace Lucas Moura is simply calculated guesswork.
He would replace him in the first team lineup, but he would more likely replace the unproductive Steven Bergwijn in the squad.
As I said earlier, he wants to stay at Barcelona and that is confirmed by their president Joan Laporta when he spoke to TV3CAT, the leading internet television station in Catalonia.
“I like Ousmane Dembélé, for me it’s clear: he’s better than Kylian Mbappé. He wants to stay and we want him to stay here.”
One of those transfer stories to sell newspapers. I have no doubt he'll sign another deal with the Spanish giants when they can eventually agree a wage.
Well that's it for this morning's offering folks.
