Tottenham Talk on Saturday 11th Sept

Harry-Kane

Good morning all you positive thinking happy Top of the Table Spurs fans on another lovely day, ready for a few minutes read of Tottenham Talk on Saturday 11th September.

The Premier League resumes following the international break with the 60th competitive London derby with Crystal Palace.

We kick off early on a rare Saturday fixture for us, giving fans their Sunday back for which the traditional Sunday Roast will be grateful.

The weekend fixtures sees us play the London-based side we often struggle to score against at Selhurst Park.

Palace-v-Spurs

Palace, now manager by former Arsenal man Patrick Viera, have drawn two and lost two so far this season.

In the league they lost the opening fixture to Chelsea 3-0, have drawn with newly-promoted  Brentford 0-0 and drawn with West Ham United 2-2.

They made a deadline day signing in the shape of prolific striker Odsonne Édouard from Celtic, which could turn out to be a very shrewd move.

The Eagles haven’t won any of their last 11 Premier League London derbies (W0, D6, L5).

Since they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers in January, they have won just 2 Premier League games at Selhurst park (D3, L4).

Tottenham are the only team in the Top 5 leagues in Europe not to have conceded a league goal this season and have now scored in 18 consecutive Premier League fixtures, the longest current streak in the top flight.

It is now 9 away leagues games since Spurs have failed to score (W4, D2, L3) and the mighty Lillywhites have scored in all but one of our previous Premier League Head-2-Head fixtures here (W7, D3, L2).

But Tottenham must break a habit of underperforming in the capital.

We have won just one of our last 7 Premier League London derbies as the away side (D3, L3).

Conor Gallagher has netted his side’s opening goal in 7 of his last 8 goalscoring outings.

England captain Harry Kane has scored 5 Premier League goals at Selhurst Park.

Our last two games here has seen exactly 2 goals scored and one-third (33.3%) of Premier League games this season have seen exactly 2 goals.

However, in the last five games at Palace (4PL, 1FA Cup), we haven't scored more than one goal.

First Team Training

Yago Santiago, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, Harvey White, Tobi Omole, Matthew Craig and Dilan Markanday (nominated for Premier League 2 Player of the Month) have trained with the first team this week.

Spurs-Training

They were joined in training by Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele, Lucas Moura, Emerson Royal, Japhet Tanganga, Brandon Austin, Joshua Oluwayemi.

Franck Kessié

AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessié has now turned down three contract offers from the Serie A club.

Has the Tottenham transfer target already decided to leave the Italians and has his next destination lined up?

Hugo Lloris

I'm fully expecting Pierluigi Gollini to take over as our#1 next season and Tottenham to offer Hugo Lloris a 2-year contract.

Will he stay and fight for a place or move on to be #1 elsewhere?

He is still the France captain and #1 and keept a clean sheet against Finland.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane is now 5th on the all time top goalscorer list for England, of which you'll notice there are 3 Spurs players, Jimmy Greaves, Gary Lineker and Harry Kane.

That's 133 goals between them.

Pape Matar Sarr

Metz director Oliver Perrin on Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr, currently back at Metz on loan for the season: “I immediately knew that Sarr was going to be a top player, with a very high level when it comes to reading and analysing the game. He is like Miralem Pjanic.”

Ryan Sessegnon

Well I gave you my view of Ryan Sessegnon, that he is nowhere near Premier League level yet, well not top of the Premier League level and clearly needs more development.

He appears to me to be mentally weak, his game is predictable and Bryan Gil has shown himself to be vastly superior and has been officially announced as the new Spain U-21 captain this week.

Tottenham have this week offered young Englishman Sessegnon to Istanbul-based Turkish side Fenerbahçe.

Their Technical Director Vitor Pereira, has responded positively to the suggestion.

Japhet Tanganga was contemplating a loan move to their rivals Galatasaray before his performance against Manchester City prompted us to have a re-think.

Sessegnon didn't perform in the two UEFA Europa Conference League Qualifying Round ties against Portuguese side Paços de Ferreira.

At elite level sport, you have to be ready take your chances when they are offered to you, not wait for charity.

Training in Croatia

Giovanni Lo Celso and Cristian Romero flew from Buenos Aires to Croatia where they will meet Dávinson Sánchez for a 10-day training camp.

Spurs sent a conditioning coach to Croatia to work with the Argentines and the Colombian, who are expected to be back in London on or around September 16th, in time for the home derby against Chelsea on Sunday, September 19th.

Marco Asensio was the great objective of both Tottenham and Milan this summer, but the player is clear he wants to stay at Real Madrid.

Alfie Devine

Tottenham 17-year-old (18 next August) midfielder Alfie Devine captained England U-19's against Germany U-19's during the international break.
