Transfer Talk on Monday 16th Aug Part 2

Tottenham Talk on Monday 16th Aug Part 2

Spurs-Jigsaw-Puzzle

I have been asked who I expect to come in so I'll take a stab, it's a lot more difficult this summer with a new manager, a new structure, a new Managing Director of Football who uses the media as part of his negotiating.

Applying pressure here, letting it be knows he is talking, but not just talking, negotiating with other clubs and players who play in the same position.

Playing one player off against another, one club off against the other, which therefore is the red herring, what order do they come in?

It is more though, the jigsaw puzzle that I explained a year or so ago. Every element has to fit together to make a transfer but every transfer is linked to every other transfer too and they must all fit into the financial jigsaw too.

Personally, I'm expecting Lautaro Martínez or Dušan Vlahović (both if Kane goes - Vlahović remains the #1 option), Takehiro Tomiyasu, a centre-back (Milenković, Koundé, Lacroix seem favourites) and a winger to come through the door by the end of the transfer window, with possibly an central midfielder depending upon who we can shift.

We need to move either Winks, who has dug his heels in or Sissoko, who is reluctant to go to Saudi Arabia to play, but nobody is offering anywhere near the wages he is on at the Lillywhites.

It's World Cup year next summer so something has to give for players who want to be a part of it.

Lautaro Martínez was not a part of the Inter squad that played a friendly against Dynano Kyiv (Ukraine) on Saturday. There is a claim that he had a 'small' injury.

The Kane situation should be decided one way or the other this week, as we would need the final week to do business with the players we have lined up in the event of him leaving or in the event of him staying.

That's part of the reason why we have insisted on a cash only deal so we know where we stand financially.

Nikola Milenković

Spurs are once again back in the picture for Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenković.

He looked set to join West Ham United but that deal has fallen through so he remains one of several centre-backs we retain an interest in.

Dávinson Sánchez is leaving, there are plenty of offers for him so we will definitely be bringing in another centre-back and we could bring in two more.

Nothing new to report, just that he is still an option and we are still talking, in fact we were talking over the weekend and they are going to continue today.

I believe the figure would be €16m (£13.61m - US$18.87m - AUS$25.61m).

Wilfried Zaha

It will please some and not please others but we are still looking for wide men and perennially linked Wilfried Zaha is back on our radar.

The 28-year-old (29 in November) homegrown left winger is under contract until 2023 and the thought is a bid of £30m (35.26m - US$41.6m - AUS$56.48m) to secure him.

You'll note we are being linked with plenty of left wingers so surely, either Son is going to be moved or Bergwijn will be sold?

Gil, as Nuno says, will need time which suggests he isn't a starter in the senior side yet but will be used in Europe, the Cups and cameos while he develops.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Everything I hear is that the deal is done, agreements with the Japanese FA sorted and all ready for the paperwork.

It's just a question of going ahead with it now, although I don't know whether he is on holiday at the moment after the Olympics.

Troy Parrott

Troy Parrott scored for MK Dons in their 2-1 home defeat to Sunderland in League One. Manager Liam Manning has a young squad and wants to see Parrott develop so MK Dons reap the benefits this season before he returns to Spurs.

"Troy is a really exciting talent. It's down to him to flip potential into performance. We saw that in the second half.

"The attempted chip - how many people see it, would try it and have the quality to execute it? And the goal was an excellent finish.

"He's got some really interesting attributes, and it's about delivering it consistency."

Spurs Women

England U-19 goalkeeper Eleanor Heeps has joined Spurs Women from Liverpool and will be loaned out to Blackburn Rovers on a season-long loan.

“I’m so happy to have signed for Spurs. The club is ambitious and I’m excited about the plans that Rehanne [Skinner] has here. I am really looking forward to learning as much as I can from both the staff and the players.”

Head Coach Rehanne Skinner rebuilding Spurs Women this summer said:
"Eleanor is a fantastic young goalkeeper with lots of potential and I am really pleased to have her with us here at Spurs.

"She is at the start of her senior career, and we identified her as a key player to invest in for the future. Eleanor will gain opportunities to learn the Spurs way whilst gaining all important match minutes at Blackburn to help her overall development. We are really excited about her future.”

Snippets

Pep Guardiola on Harry Kane: "I answered question previous press conference. Not going to talk about it. I made an exception last time."

Former Spurs favourite Rafael van der Vaart has started his role as assistant manager at Danish First Division side Esbjerg fB.

Roy Keane: “I’ve always had a soft sport for Spurs. I know I give them stick on the TV, but that’s just having a laugh with people, I followed them as a kid.”

Bournemouth are talking to us again over Cameron Carter-Vickers, who was on loan there last season, while Celtic and Newcastle United have asked to be kept informed of any developments as they both are still consider signing the American centre-back.

As you all know we have been linked with Watford winger Ismailia Sarr but were quoted a go away figure that we wouldn't dream of paying for him.

Watford need him so I don't see anything happening there.

Tottenham are looking for buyers for Tanguy Ndombele, as is his agent of course, but the problem is the money we spent on him and his wages, which nobody wants to pay. Clubs all over Europe are trying to reduce their wage bill, not increase it.

Don't be surprised if 23-year-old (24 next June) Houssem Auoar turned out to be his replacement.

Tottenham, Everton, Roma, Napoli and Arsenal are all talking to Borussia Mönchengladbach over defensive midfielder Denis Zakaria, nickname Spider if I remember rightly.

Ryan Sessegnon isn't returning from his hamstring injury until the end of August.

It too Érik Lamela 37 games to score two goals for Spurs, it took him 33 minutes to score two in LaLiga for Sevilla. He came on after 46 minutes with the score at 1-0, replacing a player who had been booked for tripping, scored his first after 55 minutes and his second after 79 minutes.

Harry Kane

It seems the £120m + add-ons I reported was incorrect, it was in fact £95m + add-ons, hence why nothing has moved. City are trying to force us to sell at a total of £120m, while Daniel Levy is sticking to his guns and wanting something nearer our figure or he stays. Poker.

Nahitan Nández

Spurs are expected to make a loan offer with an obligation to buy to Cagliari for 25-year-old (26 in December) Uruguayan international (41 caps, 3 goals, 6 assists) Nahitan Nández according to a Sardinian news outlet.

Cagliari is the capital city of the island of Sardinia off the Italian west coast.

The right-sided midfielder, who is under contract with the Italian club until 2024, is open to moving to Spurs.

Transfers

Arsenal: White, Lokonga, Tavares
Man U: Varane, Sancho, Heaton
Chelsea: Lukaku, Bettinelli
Leicester City: Vestergaard, Soumare, Daka, Bertrand
Man City: Grealish, Kayky, Carson
Spurs: Romeo, Gil, Gollini

Hugo Lloris

“At every club there are players who leave, players who come, and the most important thing is to keep the right energy inside the changing-room, to welcome in the best way the new signings and make sure they feel well."

Pep Guardiola

"Mental strength will be key in the Spurs clash."
This is exactly what I have been saying about Spurs and an area that we need to improve with the use of professionals in the field, sports psychologists.
