Tottenham Transfer Talk on Saturday 21st Aug
Morning Spurs folk, you have all made it another wonderful month for Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN).
In June we had just over 50,000 page views
In July that increased to 79,793
Now here we are on 21st August in the morning and views have surpassed 100,000 for the month at 100,896.
That is a testament to the quality of the content as if I were simply producing the same as everyone else the figures would be way down.
Thanks to all readers, all those who share my content on social media and even to those who inadvertently promote me by trying to knock me, yes my loony anti-Levy haters keep reading!
One win and one defeat, albeit a first leg tie that will mean nothing if we win the second leg and progress into the tournament proper, to start the season with a group of players who simply underperformed last season.
Chelsea I recall, won the Premier League and with the same group of players finished around 10th the following season, downing tools simply because they didn't want Mourinho as their manager any longer.
Ex-players are simply lying to you when they say it doesn't happen, it does, the proof is there time and time again.
This set of players did it to Pochettino after getting to a UEFA Champions League final and they did it to Mourinho last season.
They are not as bad as some of our fans like to make out, players like Davies are a good solid dependable pro and every squad needs some of those players.
Under Pochettino, Sissoko was player of the season, so he can play when he is motivated to do so and he certainly was not motivated under Mourinho or at the end of last season.
Eric Dier showed on Sunday you were all wrong about him and I'll continue to support the much maligned guy.
Domingos Duarte
Domingos Sousa Coutinho Meneses Duarte is a 26-year-old (27 next March) Portuguese international (2 caps) who plays as a central defender for Spanish club Granada CF in LaLiga. He has been at Granada since joining permanently from Sporting CP in July 2019 for £2.7m after spending a year on lean.
The 1.92m (6ft 3in) tall 93% right-footed defender, whom Transfermarkt value at £10.8m (€12.58m - US$14.72m - AUS$20.61m), is under contract until 2023.
Granada finished 9th in LaLiga last season and our interest in Duarte is being reported by Fichajes.
He scored one goal from 7 shots, 2 of which were on target.
Duarte completed 87.7% of his 212 short passes, 89.2% of his 445 medium range passes and 62.8% of his 274 long passes.
He won 19 of his 40 tackles, 26 of which were in defence and won 61.9% (13/21) against dribblers, thus he was dribbled past 8 times in 26.3 LaLiga games.
He made 40 blocks,20 of which were shots, 20 of which were blocking passes.
Duarte picked up 5 yellow cards, 1 red card in committing 22 fouls. He won 61.8% of his aerial duels.
If we signed him, I would expect us to reassess the centre-back situation next summer and look for an upgrade again then, when the Tottenham rebuild will continue.
Ilaix Moriba
I reported our interest in Ilaix Moriba ahead of the press and dug into the story to find out his excessive wage demands and thus concluded that he wouldn't be joining Tottenham Hotspur. His demotion to the Barcelona B side has not forced him to sign a new contract and suggestions in Spain are that he is likely to join RB Leipzig who have a buy young, improve and sell model.
Kieran Trippier
Despite the interest of several top-level teams in the Premier League, Atlético de Madrid is clear about their plans with Kieran Trippier. The only way for the Englishman to leave is if a team pays the €60m (£51.52m - US$70.18m - AUS$98.36m) in which his termination clause.
And a stupid section of Spurs fans wanted him out of Tottenham, we really do have some of the most idiotic fans in the country.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
Bournemouth have signed experienced centre-back Gary Cahill which could end their interest in taking Cameron Carter-Vickers back on loan.
It is likely that Spurs will keep him until the last day of the window and then either sell him or loan him out to one of the several interested parties.
Houssem Aouar
Houssem Aouar has been offered around Europe by Lyon and his agent in a bid to bring in vital cash to the clubs bank balance.
Real Madrid turned the 23-year-old midfielder down, concentrating instead on singing French forward Kylian Mbappe this or next summer.
Aouar is willing to move but Lyon haven't received any good offers for him.
He was offered to Spurs and late in the window we are discussing a potential deal, which would be cut price and below his real market value.
Moussa Sissoko
Spurs have been trying to offload Moussa Sissoko all summer but his £80,000-a-week (€93,169 - US$108,980 - AUS$152,740) wages have proved a stumbling block for all but Middle Eastern clubs, where Sissoko is not interested in moving, unsurprisingly.
This season is World Cup season so although Sissoko wants to be playing regularly, he seems unwilling to take a pay cut to join a club to do so.
A report in France is now suggesting that Sissoko has decided he wants to stay at Spurs and fight for his place in the team, yet he was not included in the Europa Conference game when he should have been, but was on the bench against Manchester City.
That doesn't add up and was a mistake by Nuno, who is having to learn how to juggle four competitions.
Tanguy Ndombele
Tanguy Ndombele I singled out as having the wrong mentality very quickly after his arrival and time has proved me right.
A lazy player only interested when he has the ball, he avoids defending and deliberately stays opposition goal side of the ball when tracking back so that he isn't actually in play and doesn't have to defend.
On the ball, no complaints, the lad has talent, off the ball he is bloody useless
He wants out, which he has wanted from very shortly after he arrived and we want him out.
Sky Germany report that we have turned down a bid of around €20m (£17.17m - US$23.39m - AUS$32.79m) and 27-year-old (28 next August) central midfielder Corentin Tolisso for Tanguy Ndombele.
We must be confident of being able to shift him but Tolisso would be available on a free transfer next summer so has a low value this window.
Juventus have bought Marcelo Locatelli and need to shift some players so we were once again linked with US international Weston McKennie, 23 tomorrow.
This morning there are talks of a potential swap deal for the two, requested by Juventus, that could work for both parties.
Cut losses and move on.
He is a player Paratici knows well and who Bayern Munich have been talking to.
Juventus are willing to let him go for between €25m (£21.47m - US$29.24m - AUS$40.98m) and €30m (£25.76m - US$35.09m - AUS$49.18m) which is a way below what we paid for Ndombele so I'd expect Paratici to try and winkle out some cash for him as well.
Aston Villa fans believe they have made a bid for him, Everton have been mentioned as have many of Europe's top clubs.
Well that's it folks.

Nevertheless I've seen the recent rise in figures and they're astounding. Your signature signature (If I may put it that way.) is probably having a serious effect. Your inclusion of all those Spurs supporters across the world, so much ignored by most outlets, is also a factor I'm sure.
I'd be interested to know if you got yourself some SEO advice or just had some thinking time and decided for yourself on some of the things you've added to the blogs as styandard?
However it is I'm thrilled to see the numbers rising so steeply in recent months. By the way, commenting on the numbers and highlighting their rise is another factor that gets people involved and keen to help increase the numbers further. Keep it all up.
