Tottenham Talk on Thursday 5th Aug

Daniel=Levy

Good morning folks and welcome to Tottenham Talk on Thursday 5th Aug.

You all know my views on the media and the lack of anything done about the comment about Daniel Levy by the presenters on talkSPORT just proves my point.

For those of you who don't know, a caller said that Daniel Levy wants a lot of money for Harry Kane because he is a Jew.

“Levy, he’s a Jew. He’s not going to let him go for nothing, is he?”

It was broadscast live on their YouTube channel. Groves showed visable shock but said nothing and Jarrett-Bryan showed signs of disapproval but again didn't comment).

A clear and blatantly obvious anti-Semitic remark that the broadcasters on air (former Arsenal player Perry Groves and Jordan Jarrett-Bryan former London & Rio Paralympic Games UK Wheelchair Basketball player) did nothing about, didn't even apologise for.

That in itself is out of order.

Tottenham lodged a formal complaint on Tuesday night to talkSPORT.

Head of talkSPORT Lee Clayton has issued an apology. You can read it in full here: talkSPORT Apology

Tottenham have issued a statement which you can read here: Spurs Statement

This isn't the first time filth have hurled abuse of this nature twoards Levy, the same thing happened over the Gareth Bale transfer.

Previous abuse: Gareth Bale Transfer

If I were Daniel Levy, I would now be digging my heels in. They guy is simply trying to do what is best for Tottenham Hotspur, either keep the star man or get a fair price for the best player in England, the best striker in the Premier League, in Europe and arguably the best in the world.

He is a world class player, not an international class, but a world class player so any Manchester City offer should reflect that.

Having advised or asked Harry Kane to go on strike, as they undoubtedly have in my view, is wrong and it is wrong for an England captain, setting an example to youngsters across the country, to go on strike.

The statements backtracking do not change the situation, Harry Kane did not seek permission from the club to miss training or to come back late.

If this is isolation after a holiday when why were there reports that Kane would miss training a while ago with suggestions that that came from his England colleagues?

If they knew then that shows the latest word from the Kane camp, if it did come from them about his isolation, to be face saving nonsense.

Manchester City are partly to blame, Harry Kane is partly to blame, given they have caused this to happen, but neither party will take any responsibility will they.

Harry Kane ought to put out a statement distancing himself from that fans view, from the endorsement the presenters gave it by not apologising for it on air and in support of his chairman.

Jamie-Carragher

Some Spurs fans think it is so simple to just go and buy any player you want or sell any player you want, the real world is a whole lot different.

All you fans who complain about what YOU perceive as Levy putting in low ball offers and nobody else does it, well what did Chelsea do over Modrić, what are Man City doing over Kane, exactly the same.

Standards in society are going down and the anonymity social media just makes matters worse. People think they can say and do anything.

The irresponsibility of people has been shown by Covid and I think it is essential that ALL social media accounts should be verified and records kept so the Police can easily track the culprits.

Then we might get some protection from the low life their parents have created.

Next, I will repeat again, particularly for all the anti-Levy people, Daniel Levy is not dealing with transfers, only the Kane situation.

He is not negotiating the finances, he is letting Paratici get on with it, that's his role now, if you can't accept that it just shows the strength of the agenda you claim not to have.

Get over it.

Sergio Rico

Paris Saint-Germain third-string goalkeeper Sergio Rico has been the subject of interest from many clubs including Granada and Valencia and, according to Spanish-based outlet Todoficajes, Tottenham.

Noni Madueke

Tottenham are said to have been talking an interest in London-born England U-21 international (1 cap) Noni Madueke.

The 19-year-old (20 next March) mainly right-winger currently plays with PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Madueke is another youngster who left the Tottenham Academy, rejecting Manchester United to move abroad to get first team football quicker, a growing trend amongst youngsters today.

The teenager averaged more dribbles per 90 (3.6) than any other player who made 20+ appearances in the Eredivisie last season.

Ben Davies

Ben Davies has been much maligned since his arrival from Swansea in the summer of 2014 for £11.39m (€13.38m - US$15.86m - AUS$21.40m).

But how much game time will he now get at Spurs?

First choice is Sergio Reguilón and Ryan Sessegnon has been impressing on his comeback from injury so is expected to be second choice this season.

Spurs have a youth development, look to the future policy which will see 28-year-old (29 next April) Welshman Davies as third choice and therefore ripe for selling while he still has a good market value.

A year not playing a lot will see his market value drop so much as fans don't like it, financially now is the time to sell.

Napoli have made enquiries as have several other clubs about his availability, so although Graham Roberts doesn't think he'll be going anywhere, he could well be leaving this summer to aid the squad overhaul.

He has been a solid player, more defensive than attacking and a good servant for the club in my view. I wish him well wherever he is next season.

Moussa Sissoko

Monaco have made an enquiry for Frenchman Sissoko, who would be a homegrown player for any French side.

Being a tax haven might appeal to Sissoko and thus a move to Saudi Arabia would not then be needed perhaps.

We'll see if this enquiry makes a difference to his plans as surely there is only one reason to go and play in the Middle East and it ain't for the sun.

Philippe Coutinho

Brazilian international (63 caps, 18 goals, 13 assists) creative midfielder Philippe Coutinho is back on the Spurs radar.

His contract with Barcelona finishes in 2023 and as reported several time the Spanish club simply have to make savings and get some of the high earners off their books.

Coutinho earns £8.58m which is £524,000-a-week and Spurs would be looking for a loan deal with Barca paying some of his wages, not the ideal option for them.

Don't quote me on this but I think we would be looking at 40% so paying £210,000 and his agent, Kia Joorabchian, has a good relationship with us.

  • LaLiga Record: P80 G19 A11 Goal Participation 172 mins

  • Serie A Record: P28 G3 A2 Goal Participation 271 mins
Bayern Munich paid a loan fee of £7.65m (€8.98m - US$10.66m - AUS$14.38m).

Cristian Romero

Atalanta eventually reached agreement with Juventus over the transfer of centre-back Merih Demiral.

He will move for an initial €4m loan fee and then a purchase fee of €28m. Demiral completes his medical today while Romero has flown over to have his medical at Tottenham.

The signing of Demiral and Lovato allow the sale of Romero for the fee that was basically agreed a month ago.

I believe Romero is arriving by private plane today.

Mikkel Damsgaard

As reported, Fabio Paratici went to Italy for meetings with Atalanta, Juventus, Fiorentina and Sassuolo, to which can be added Sampdoria.

At Sampdoria the discussion is about 21-year-old (22 next July) Danish international winger Mikkel Damsgaard, for whom their President Massimo Ferrero wants €35m (£29.85m - US41.63m - AUS$56.13m) for.

From the Premier League we are in competition with Liverpool, Aston Villa and Leeds United and Juventus are always interested in the best players playing in Italy, Roma would like him too.

I hear for Italian teams the price is €25m (£21.32m - US29.73m - AUS$40.09m)

Sampdoria have identified the player they want to replace him, Valencia's 20-year-ols (21 next February) South Korean international (6 caps, 1 assist) attacking-midfielder Lee Kang-In.

He will cost less than €10m (£8.53m - US$11.89m - AUS$16.04m) with only a year remaining on his contract.

We are battling a President who is from Rome and wants Damsgaard to go to Rome.

“Damsgaard is the player Roma need. If they call me up we can talk about it and find an agreement. He’s better than Xhaka.

“Damsgaard is a quality player, he can even play in front of the defense. So let’s get together, all I’m waiting for is a phone call and we can find a solution. Xhaka’s not coming to Roma, so they’re still missing a player in the middle of the pitch.

“I want him to go to Roma. I am a Romanista and Damsgaard would be a great reinforcement.”
