Tottenham Talk on Sunday 22nd Aug

Tanguy-Ndombele

The anti-Levy cluster on social media still don't seem to have grasped how the structure of Tottenham has changed and the roles and responsibilities have changed.

Daniel Levy does not sign off on every deal, he isn't saying yes or no, all he does is sign off on the transfer budget and the wages budget.

By that I mean it is his decision how much Fabio Paratici has to spend in transfers fees and wages.

After that it is basically down to Paratici to spend it in any way he sees fit, that is his job, his responsibility.

Of course if he sells players, loans them out he has additional funds to play with.

He does not go to Daniel Levy with a deal he has arranged and say is this OK, for Daniel Levy to decide yes or no.

You employ people with responsibility to do a job, not do a job only if you agree with every decision they make.

I sometimes wonder whether half our fans have ever worked in a major business, delegation is the key, not dictatorial autonomy.

We still have folk on social media trying to blame Daniel Levy for something he basically has no part in.

That's agendas for you.

Let's get onto some Tottenham Transfer News.

Tottenham Transfer News

Lyon have turned down the Spurs offer of Tanguy Ndombele in exchange for Houssem Aouar and cash as Ndombele's wages are way too
 high for their stretched finances.

Ndombele was wanted by Pochettino and Daniel Levy bought the player for him only to find out he was a dud.

A pathetic attitude, he gave up from almost the start when he found he wasn't guaranteed a starting berth, something he had in France.

Another option may be a swap deal with Atlético Madrid for 26-year-old (27 in November) Spanish international (19 caps, 3 goals, 2 assists) central midfielder Saúl Ñíguez.

Others have suggested Coutinho at Barcelona but his wages are astronomical so not something we would entertain without Barcelona paying 60% of them and they are trying to reduce their wage bill.

He is French so would be a homegrown player for PSG if we could find a player we wanted to swap him with.

Are there any players at Real Madrid we could swap him with, but again they want to reduce their wage bill and prepare for the arrival of Kylian Mbappe who they have been in contact with for years about joining.

AC Milan have also enquired but unless it included Franck Kessié that's a complete non-starter and they want to keep him.

We turned down Bayern Munich's offer of around €20m (£17.17m - US$23.39m - AUS$32.79m) and 27-year-old (28 next August) central midfielder Corentin Tolisso who is in the last year of his contract.

What solution will Paratici find, one wonders.

The numbers on Dušan Vlahović have just gone up and up and up since our initial interest at around half of what is being quoted now for a young and still inexperienced striker.

While he might be our number one target, I did report when his name was first revealed was that his preference was to stay for another season and develop at Fiorentina.

We have made our bid and we are not raising it to the levels now being quoted, €87m (£74.73m - US$101.77m - AUS$142.63m) including his agents fee.

We have spoken with the agent of Swiss-based striker Arthur Cabral but a deal looks unlikely.

The 23-year-old (24 next April) Brazilian plays for Basel in the Swiss Super League and is under contract there until 2023.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane has been training well and has travelled with the squad to Birmingham where he is contention for selection.

A bit late in the day but he is now getting professional advice from the Triple S Sports and Entertainment Group Ltd.

Triple S Communications offer bespoke public relations services to high-profile individuals and brands across multiple industry sectors, including sports, entertainment and business.

This is the same firm that represents Gareth Southgate, coincidence,no the FA and Southgate have had a word with.

He has a responsibility as the England captain to behave in a certain way and simply taking an extra week off without permission is not compatible with being the nations captain.

His conduct has not been of the level they expect, that is clear from public and media reaction.

Man City didn't bid by our deadline and Kane has been kept informed.

Time to knuckle down and start scoring goals.

Let me leave you with this from Japhet Tanganga:

"He is a very calm and collected coach, but very informative. He’s been very helpful for me, on my positioning. But not just me, the team - he has given us a structure and base. I bet other players would agree."

Well that's it folks, apart from the fact that Wolves is the only team Heung-min Son hasn't scored against yet. Fingers crossed.
