Tottenham Talk on Thursday 15th

Hugo-Lloris

Good morning folks and welcome to another wonderful Thursday to be a proper Spurs supporting Spurs fan.

I read some ITK yesterday that said Paratici is the one doing the negotiations.

I have been saying this since he signed.

He would not have joined Spurs if he didn't have any power.

He would not have joined Spurs if the manager was going to choose players and he was just going to negotiate, in other words, be someone else's puppet.

Paratici knows the budget he has to work to, knows the players we are happy to let go.

It is Paratici that is conducting negotiations, not Daniel Levy.

They talk, of course they do, but Paratici is the man for transfers now.

I still see the anti-Levy crowd wanting to already pin blame on Levy when he isn't involved!

That shows yet again they either have an agenda that clouds their judgement or they simply don't understand how the club is run and base their perception on outdated information.

Training is going well with Nuno who feels Spurs need to toughen up physically and retain possession better.

The fitness levels, certainly for some players, have not been what they should be, basically due to a lack o0f effort in training last season.

Dele for instance improved towards the end of last season and has been working all summer to get himself in peak condition.

The international players are all on three-week breaks, except Davinson whose agent has been discussing a move to Sevilla, but that deal is in the balance.

Sevilla do not have the money to buy him outright.

Real Madrid are having their wages budget capped by LaLiga which means they to reduce their wage bill, meaning players like Isco need to be sold.

Barcelona need to lower their wage bill, Juventus need to lower their wage bill, Inter Milan need to lower their wage bill which means loan-term loan deals should be more prevalent.

Hugo Lloris will be offered a new deal.

The 34-year-old (35 in December) Spurs captain has one year left on his current deal and will be offered an extension to take him until 2024.

Lloris is currently on holiday.

OK, I have been asked who we will go after if Koundé decides to continue to wait and see what other offers come in. See the transfer talk section below.

We have been here before when we were in the Europa League, players want Champions League football and wait to see if offers come in, which just keeps us waiting with hope.

We can't afford to do that this window and we have players to offload to clubs with no money.

That makes things rather difficult, hence the deal arranged with Sevilla that suited both parties.

It will be interesting to see how many swap deals are completed this summer.

Andros Townsend is without a club and training at Tottenham at present, hence being seen a lot on TalkSPORT.

It is merely to keep the 29-year-old (30 tomorrow) fit after unsuccessful negotiations with Crystal Palace over a new contract.

Tottenham Problems

The situation is not as bad as many fans seem to think.

Tottenham dropped a lot of points from winning positions last season.

Had we not done so, then nobody would be complaining, had we not dropped them in just a few of those games we would be in the UEFA Champions League.

If we tighten up the defence, there is no reason why we can't return to our former finishing positions and have regular Champions League football again.

As you all know we are prioritising the defence at the moment with the money we have and then player sales will help fund remaining purchases.

It depends what deals we can get done for reasonable fees as to what we have to spend before we need to raise additional funds.

Fabio Paratici is a busy man, but that's the way he likes it being a bit of a workaholic.

Davinson Sanchez

Davinson Sanchez was well aware of Sevilla's interest and had agreed to join them as part of the deal.

He spoke to his good mate Juan Foyth about the Spanish League so is happy to move there.

The Colombian needs to play regularly to be in top form and simply isn't going to happen at Tottenham where he has made far too many errors to garner trust in his teammates.

The talk of Nuno wanting to look at him isn't accurate, he is a player the club have earmarked to sell this summer, as you can see by the interest we have in centre-backs at the moment.

In my last article I listed 14 that we are following and that is not a comprehensive list by any means.

Milan Škriniar

With Jules Kondé undecided on joining Spurs, Fabio Paratici has turned his attention to Milan Škriniar.

The problem is, just like last summer, he doesn't want to leave Inter Milan, but our new Managing Director of Football has made an offer for the centre-back.

Yesterday I listed 14 centre-backs of interest to us.

Which clubs would benefit from a swap deal plus cash?

Who will offer a cheap deal for more money up front?

Who will accept a loan deal with option to buy?

It isn't just about which player we might want but what deal we can actually do, which makes it difficult to know who we would turn to next.

This is the reason we hold initial discussions to get an idea of what might be possible in principle.

Where Paratici will turn I don't know.
