Serge-Aurier

Welcome to some Tottenham Transfer Talk from Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN) focussing on Serge Aurier today.

It is a beautiful sunny day here on the coast as I pen this little ditty for you (31 March 10:30 GMT), I'll definitely be having a walk along the seafront or the beach today.

A spot of people watching no doubt too. The joggers, dog walkers, electric bikers, cyclists and plain old walkers will be out in force, as will a few fishermen so plenty to observe sat on a bench in the sun.

If you live near the sea you simply have to take advantage of it and having seen my grandson last weekend for the first time in 9 months, I can't wait to introduce him to Dymchurch beach, where the tide goes out a distance.

A few days ago he was 1 year 1 month and 1 day old.

Covid-19 has meant I have missed all his crawling stage, the beginnings of standing up, pulling himself and and walking. now he's running around and is such a happy little thing.

He is fascinated with wheels at the moment and it is about this time that I'd better get him a Tottenham outfit, given his Dad is a Chelsea fan, although he has never been to a football match and isn't a hardened supporter I think.

My daughter would be happy if he grows to be a Spurs fan and hopefully one day I'll get to take him to the new stadium, perhaps with his Mum and Dad for the experience.

Wonder if the club would announce his first attendance over the tannoy system, or whatever they call it these days?

Who will be his hero's, Alfie Divine, Dane Scarlett, Oliver Skipp?

One player it probably won't be in Serge Aurier.

Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing the right-back, whose time at the great Tottenham Hotspur may come to an end this summer.

Having played at PSG, he was signed knowing there were issues surrounding him and it is debateable whether he has been a success at Spurs.

He isn't as good as Kieran Trippier and didn't take the right-back position a step forward as we had hoped, neither has he really made the position his own, given he had no competition for a place last season.

We will be looking for a fee of around £17.07m (€20m - US$23.47m - AUS$30.84m) with his contract finishing in 2022.

He has started 48% of Premier League games and has a 6% goal participation ratio.

For comparison, Matt Doherty has started 41% of Premier League games and has a 4% goal participation ratio.

Monaco, Marseille and Pochettino trained PSG, together with AC Milan are all tracking him.

Back in April 2020, Aurier spoke to Canal+ and was adamant he just wanted to play for the French champions.

"I'd like to join Paris Saint-Germain back, and play the latter part of my career right there. PSG were the club of my dreams when I was a kid, and that dream came true. But it's not over, and joining them back would be a joy. I'd have liked to keep playing for PSG all my career long."

He is a homegrown French player, although he chose to play for Ivory Coast, whom he captains, so a move to PSG for Aurier would suit all parties, particularly if Mourinho sees Japhet Tanganga as a right-back.
