Spurs Serious about Damsgaard

I have been tweeting we need to replace Steven Bergwijn since last year, while everyone else was singing his praises.

Bergwijn hasn't scored a goal all season and has been left out of the starting line up recently.

I believe he isn't happy about that, but then what Dutch player ever is, they are rather temperamental which has often affected their performance as a nation.

He has played 1,049 minutes in the Premier League and has just 3 assists.

Tottenham were interested in
20-year-old (21 in July) Danish left-winger Mikkel Damsgaard last summer, although we didn't make a bid.

We made contact with Sampdoria again in February and things have developed from there.

Spurs are taking a serious interest in him I hear and Sampdoria are looking for a fee in the region of €20 million (£17.19m).

When asked, he has said he intends to stay at Sampdoria but also said you never know in football which hasn't put us off apparently.

“Sure,” he said. “Why not?

“Then, of course, you never know and in football everything depends on performance, for good and for bad.”

Damsgaard arrived in Italy from Danish side Nordsjaelland last summer and signed a contract with Sampdoria until June 2024.

Arsenal, Leicester City, Juventus, Inter Milan, West Ham, Everton, Crystal Palace and Leeds United are all tracking him.

The Danish international (one cap vs Sweden) has started 46% of the Serie A games, 52% of the available minutes and participated in 15% of Sampdoria's league games.
