Let's Talk Dele

Yet another post, I'm spoiling you.

My eyes are good, the Jaguar is good so it'll soon be time to clean it and bring it back to new both inside and out.

First job is for my brother to bleed the brakes and while the car is lifted, have a good look underneath.

The Jag has passed the last three MOT's with no advisories so I'm not expecting any problems.

Then it'll go on his diagnostic machine although the in-car Hidden Test Menu shows no problems.

July is pencilled in for a service.

A spot of quality purring along.

Alas I can't say the same for Spurs...

At the moment we are not purring like a quality motor...

More a Del Boy Trotter executive saloon three wheel Robin Reliant.

We have all the parts but we have them assembled in the wrong order.

I started to produce some statistics whish are often revealing.

These figures are all for all competitions.

Now, bare in mind a player has to play the way the manager wants him to play, not the way he wants to play...

Hence he has to 100% buy into the manager and his tactics.

Dele Alli hasn't.

His pressing has been half-hearted...

As if is a waste of his time and pointless.

Below is the order of our Press Success Rate.

Then the figures and for me, Dele's tell the whole story.

The worst of all the outfielders at a dismal 18.4% when the average is 26.3%.

Incidentally, against us it's 32.1% showing teams are better pressing us than we are pressing them.

Percentage Pass Completion rate...

Dele is 13th.

An important stat for professionals but not one general appreciate the importance of...

Percentage Short Pass Completion Rate...

Dele is 14th.

Medium he sinks to 18th...

Long he leaps to 7th.

Long balls (30 yards), is that what you know Dele for?

Passes that move the ball 10 yards forward...

Dele 9 (370 minutes), Lo Celso 40 (728 minutes).

You can make excuses for Dele...

But the figures show he isn't putting the effort in.

Dele has 1 completed through ball in 370 minutes.

Average distance from goal when shooting...

Dele is 14th (17.7 yards).

That includes 1 penalty.

On xG figures he is down on expected goals.

Where he does figure well is Shot Creation Actions (per 90 minutes)...

4.11 Lo Celso 4.08

Dane Scarlett 1st, Jack Clarke 2nd, Dele 3rd, Gio 4th, Lamela 5th, Bale 6th

The figures go down with more game time and better opposition.

Kane by the way is 7th.

Dele has a dribble success rate of 40%.

That's the lowest of anybody...

And he has been playing against the weakest opposition!

Incidentally, Bergwijn's is a poor 48.5%

Lamela 80%
Ndombele 72.9%
Lo Celso 71.4%
Moura 58.3%

So Bergwijn doesn't beat men and doesn't score goals.

Anyway, as this has turned into a post about Dele we had better return to that theme.

José Mourinho and Ledley King have sat down with Dele and had a chat.

Let's hope, without cameras...

Mourinho made it plain to Dele exactly what his problem is...

And not leave it to Dele to figure out.

With the wrong mindset Dele obviously won't see it.

One he accepts his errors...

Takes responsibility for his predicament...

Adapts to what the manager wants...

Then his form can return.

Fingers crossed.
