Willian José and Carlos Fernández

Willian-José-and-Carlos-Fernández

Good afternoon on this fabulous day with the sun shining and the birds singing, seagulls in the distance and a Spurs game to boot.

Tonight it'll be beef brisket with roast potatoes, yorkshire pudding, baked onion, peas, carrots, thick gravy, followed by some fruit and creme for pudding I think.

A couple of crusty rolls, cheese, piccalilli, salt and vinegar crisps filling with a nice English breakfast mug of tea for lunch.

It is calming to listen to birds chatting without the distraction of other noises, even the daily squabbling of the starlings and friends who visit en masse, about 10 of them together.

Into the garden this morning, fill up the pond, have the daily hide and seek game with the frogs, they have won the last few days.

Someone ought to make a nature documentary about the life of a garden pond, there are always so many insects that come to drink.

Anyway enough of this tittle tattle, let's get on with some brief Tottenham Tittle Tattle instead.

Strikers are all the talk at the moment.

We have a big list and names are being dropped from it at a regular basis, a couple yesterday, a couple more today.

Willian José
We tried to sign 28-year-old (29 in November) Willian José in January, as did Manchester United and Barcelona and El Desmarque say that we are interested again.

El Desmarque are a Spanish outlet that covers news of Real Betis, Sevilla, Málaga and Valencia as well as covering the rest of Spain.

They say Real Sociedad striker Willian José remains on Tottenham's radar after several attempts to sign him last January.

It has been announced that José has tested positive for Covid-19 on September 9th so a weeks quarantine period will mean he doesn't return to training until 21st September.

Talking to clubs in January apparently caused problems and his agent has passed on the interest of several clubs to Real Sociedad President Jokin Aperribay.

They will only talk to a club if the club give permission and there is no indication he has given permission to talk to Spurs yet.

Given that everyone thinks Daniel Levy offers less than everyone else, in January Manchester United offered €10m and a loan deal
Barcelona offered €15m
Tottenham offered €20m

Now it is reported in Spain that Real Sociedad are at the head of the queue to sign Carlos Fernández

Carlos Fernández
Spurs are also interested in Sevilla 24-year-old (25 next May) striker Carlos Fernández in a €20m deal it is reported.

Apparently, if Willian José leaves Real Sociedad they would offer €15m for Fernández, yet another report suggests the Bsque side have already offered €13m and had it rejected.

That would suggest they are open to a José sale.

Benfica have made enquiries and we have been linked with their striker Carlos Vinícius, Celta Vigo have made enquiries too.

He was out on loan last season and has informed his club that he does not wish to be loaned out again, either that is is a regular part of the 1st team or he would rather move on to pastures new.

It is reported that he has told his relatives his first preference is to stay at Sevilla and succeed there as he came through the youth system.

It is suggested would be happy to sell for €20m to fund the purchase of a new striker to add to the squad for the Champions League campaign.

Strikers
Milik - Napoli want too much so need price to lower towards the end of the window, 10 months left on contract - still an option at the right price
Cavani - never an option due to wages, just meaningless press talk
Deeney - only ever an option if we need a homegrown player
Watkins - far too expensive at £33m for a Championship striker
Diallo - has agreed to join us and is our fall back option
Daka - agent says he wishes to stay and develop at RB Salzburg
Suarez - never an option just meaningless press talk
Bellotti - loan with option to buy offer made and rejected, Torino want a straight sale, clubs in Italy are financially strapped
Wilson - Bournemouth wanted too much and there were injury concerns
King - more a press link than genuine interest from us
Wood - homegrown option but Burnley asking too much I believe
Jimenez - silly figures have been quoted
Costa - his wages are more than Kane's so never a realistic option

The Sun today report we are in talks with Metz to sign Habib Diallo for £13m, my man from May/June is still in the mix and the ITK folk are now talking about him as being on our short list, only 3 months late chaps.
