Tottenham Transfer Talk

Good morning folks, the sun was out when I surfaced and why not it's a happy Wednesday after all having dumped Chelsea out of the League Cup on penalties last night.

Today we will have some Tottenham Transfer Tittle Tattle while we still can, there isn't long to go and our business is not concluded yet.

Which Premier League clubs are interested in Carlos Vinícius?

Tottenham Hotspur hold the strongest interest in Carlos Vinícius, having made a bid in the region of €45m according to journalist Rui Pedro Braz while TVI24 suggest Crystal Palace and Leicester City have also made enquiries for the 25-year-old Benfica striker.

Benfica’s coach, Jorge Jesus, admitted on 26th September that Carlos Vinicius could be sold before the window closes on 5th October.

He was an unused substitute on Saturday as Benfica beat Moreirense 2-0.

Which player have the Italian press linked with Spurs?

According to Italian newspaper Il Messaggero, Serie A side Roma have rejected a €25m + bonuses bid from Tottenham Hotspur for Roger Ibañez.

Roger Ibañez da Silva, commonly known as Ibañez, is a 6ft 2in (1.86m) 21-year-old (22 in November) Brazilian professional footballer who plays for Roma, on loan from Atalanta.

The Roma official website says he is a ball-playing centre-back with speed, technique and determination.

Roma have an obligation to buy him for €8m + €2m in additional bonus payments if certain conditions are met next summer.

Right-footed and mainly a central defender, he can also play as a defensive midfielder or full-back.

Ibañez also holds a Uruguayan passport but has 2 international caps at U-23 level for Brazil.

Who have Spurs made a bid for?

According to Italian news outlet TuttoJuve, Tottenham have had a €30m offer for Merih Demiral rejected by Juventus.

Conversion as of 28/09/2020

US$35.18m

Merseyside club Everton have also made an inquiry.

Former footballer and columnist Antonio Di Gennaro has spoken to TMW Radio regarding Milan Škriniar.

Is there a Škriniar case at Inter?

"Maybe they want to sell him. To get to Kantè you need some exits. For me he is one of the strongest defenders around, but he found it difficult to three, like Godin.

"For Conte, Kantè would be the real purchase to change the balance and be the favorite . For him you need real money and for this you need an important exit. Škriniar could play in all Italian teams. Tottenham offers 30 million?

"They do not accept it but such a sum has been paid out for Thiago Alcantara. Some figures now it is difficult to circulate.

"There will no longer be exorbitant figures, so they will have to lower their demands."

Moussa Sissoko has apologised after initially refusing to be a substitute in the weekend English Premier League game against Newcastle United.

Originally he was selected for the game but Pierre-Emile Højbjerg passed a late fitness test and midfielder Sissoko was moved to the bench by Mourinho.

Tottenham goalkeeping coach, Nuno Santos, has been given a one match touchline ban and an £8,000 fine for "abusive and/or insulting language towards a match official on the field of play" after the utterly ridiculous Eric Dier handball penalty decision on Sunday.

Are Spurs selling Jan Foyth?

Centre-back Juan Foyth has been offered to Valencia, Villarreal and Real Sociedad by his agent.

Spurs have been asking for a £4m loan fee and undecided whether to sell him or not.

Spurs have been in discussions with Valencia but it is reported in Spain that the Spanish club are struggling to match the fee we are asking for the Argentinian.

Fulham and Leeds United want him on loan, they have not offered £25m for him as is being falsely reported on Twitter, we would have snapped such an offer up.

Are Spurs interested in Luka Jović?

Tottenham discussed the possibility of signing Real Madrid forward Luka Jović during talks for Gareth Bale and Sergio Reguilón.

Real Madrid were very realistic in transfer talks with Tottenham and accepted instalment payments for Reguilón rather than half up front as teams have been asking.

I have written about how transfer payments are constructed over the term of a contract and signing on fees before, you don't pay one lump sum upfront.

However, at the time Spurs decided not to buy Jović and he has been offered around Europe.

You will know that Dele has not changed his attitude yet and has been discussing PSG with Serge Aurier.

No serious talks have taken place between Spurs and PSG or PSG and Dele.

What's wrong with Dele Alli?

Dele is on £100,000-a-week, has no need of money and seems more interested in his image than being the best footballer that he can be.

It has happened to so many before him, he needs to find the passion, the fire again, not just trot along the same way he has been doing things for the last couple of years.

It has been made perfectly clear he is lazy in training, just does what he needs to, doesn't push himself, that isn't the attitude of someone trying to improve.

As mentioned before, unless we receive £70m he won't be sold, but a loan deal is very difficult.

Conversion as of 28/09/2020
£70m
€76.68m
US$89.94m

He earns £5.2m per year so a one-season loan deal will probably cost a club at least £10m for the fee and his wages.

£10m
€10.95m

Now I'm going to throw something out there.

If you look through the Tottenham squad, there are few players you can sell who are going to raise any significant money.

We tried to sell Tanguy Ndombélé and couldn't and apart from Harry Kane, Dele is the only player we could sell who could raise a significant amount of money.

Has José decided he can be sacrificed?

If he tries to push him out he will either buck his ideas up, which is a win for Spurs or raise money for rebuilding.

Look at last night's fighting victory versus Chelsea.

Spurs makeshift team was overrun in the first half but José changed things at half time.

Both managers agreed that Spurs pressed higher and with more intensity after the break and Chelsea couldn't handle it.

Now, remember Dele in the last Europa League tie closing players down from the front in a half hearted, I can't be bothered, I don't want to be doing this manner?

Therein lies the nub of the problem.

He is still lazy and seems to think he can play on talent alone.

He seems to think he can just walk onto a pitch and use the skill he has while everyone around him is trying to improve and implement what Mourinho is asking of them, he doesn't appear to be.

The fact that he has been dropped by England coach Gareth Southgate speaks volumes and he will have to buck his ideas up if he is to make the European Championships.

mentioning that display versus Chelsea, let's end on that positive note, high praise for every player, praise for Sergio Reguilón who made a mistake for the goal and assisted in our goal, he looks a useful recruit.

A win, a smile, another game.

Happy Wednesday folks.
