Stats vs Newcastle and Dele

Well good morning folks and welcome to another edition of Tottenham Tittle Tattle.

The frogs have won the hide and seek battle for the last week as the main plant in the pond shrinks and provides them with less cover.

It makes it all the better when you do see them.

The local fox pack have a new young edition, they visit of an evening and destroy the flowers out front.

The starlings, sparrows and wrens continue to visit each day before the jackdaws and others visit.

They provide morning entertainment.

Let's move onto the football.

The performance on Sunday was the most impressive of the season, yet we drew 1-1, thanks to insane refereeing decision, and beat Southampton 5-2 away while still looking vulnerable.

Some clueless Chelsea fan TalkSPORT presenter I think it was, said Kane would struggle under José Mourinho.

His limitations only allowed him to see the defensive side of the game being strengthened at the expense of the attack.

That, of course, was wide of the mark.

This season, in the Premier League, Tottenham have registered an attempt at goal from inside the six-yard box every 27 minutes  - more than any other side!

That also demonstrates what I have been writing for years, we are simply not clinical enough consistently.

But, having said that, look at the goals we have conceded in 3 Premier League games.

Spurs have conceded 4 goals and 3 of the are contentious to put it mildly.

1. Tottenham vs Everton
Conceded a set-piece goal when Lucas Digne moved the ball 10m forward to improve the angle and push our defensive line back, when the referee has spray to mark where the ball should be placed.

2. Southampton vs Tottenham
Terrible handball decision against Matt Doherty.

3. Tottenham vs Newcastle United
It was never a foul in the first place, if anything it should have been a free-kick to Spurs as the Newcastle play simple lept into Højbjerg and then the decision against Dier is one of the most ridiculous you will ever see.

Jorge Mendes made over €20m with commissions this summer [via @cmjornal] so far, no doubt there will be more.

José Mourinho was obviously once again asked about Dele Alli not being included in the squad by clueless journalists.

Patently obvious that he is going to play Tuesday for a start but equally obvious was the fact he didn't do enough against Macedonians KF Shkëndija on Thursday in the UEFA Europa League to warrant a place.
“It’s a bit of both [rotation or other reasons]. We start with Kane, Son and Lucas. On the bench we have Bergwijn. When players are on the pitch they have to earn their minutes for the next game.”
José Mourinho
His frustration was clearnin that game when passes weren't accurate to him and he missed a major chance that he needs to be tucking away.

Clearly he has to adapt his game for José's system, not Spurs change their system to suit Dele Alli.

Now I have written about this a lot lately that the showing of frustration shows a mental condition and controlling emotions and mental anxiety in matches will improve a players performance as will greater vision.

These are two things that need working on but aren't unfortunately, we are still stuck in amateur ways of doing things.

We all hope Dele realises his issue and responds in a positive way to the challenge facing him as, in fairness, Tanguy Ndombélé has now started to do once he realised he couldn't get a move away.

A motivated Dele, not a frustrated Dele with doubts is needed on Tuesday.

He has to see this game as a big chance, as I say, he must see it as a challenge and respond to the challenge without any doubts at all.

Doubts, anxiety will drag his game down.
