The Stats You Haven't Seen Yet

The-stats

Talking of walking, keep up, that was the last two articles, I also walked back from Central London (Victoria) to Dartford which is 18.5 miles, again on a hot summer's day.

I was a tad bushed at the end of it but you don't do stuff like that if you don't have the mentality to do what others won't do.

Right no chit chat in Tottenham Tittle Tattle today.

I thought I would delve into a few stats and see what surprises come out like Giovani Lo Celso creating more shooting opportunities with his passes per 90 minutes than any other player for Spurs.

Or the fact we win more points when Eric Dier is on the field than any other player!

Bet that surprises you.

These stats are all based on the 2019/20 season.

Harry Kane scores 0.63 goals every 90 minutes.
Son Heung-min scores 0.40 goals every 90 minutes.

Harry Kane either scores a goal or contributes an assist 0.70 times every 90 minutes.
Son Heung-min either scores a goal or contributes an assist 0.76 times every 90 minutes.

That rather underlines how important Heung-min Son is to Tottenham's play.

Let's look at the other attacking players and see how they fare to compare output.

Like I say, the end product is what matters, not what you look like.

Goals for dough, skills for show.

Giovani Lo Celso sitting top of our shot creation stats per 90 minutes will surprise a few, but it demonstrates how sometimes statistics can reveal what you don't see with the naked eye.

All these stats show the value of Son Heung-min to us.

They also show Erik Lamela to have greater output than most think.

Ok, next, let's look at these shot creation actions that actually lead to a goal (per 90 mins).

Son Heung-min 22 (0.80)
Dele Alli 12 (0.58)

Lucas Moura 8 (0.32)
Giovani Lo Celso 6 (0.36)
Harry Kane 6 (0.21)
Serge Aurier 6 (0.20)

Christian Eriksen 3 (0.25)
Tanguy Ndombélé 2 (0.18)
Steven Bergwijn 1 (0.13)

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg 5 (0.16)

Tanguy Ndombélé and Giovani Lo Celso have reportedly been competing for the same spot and the last few statistics per 90 minutes show why Lo Celso has been preferred with higher outputs.

For creating shots for others he is our best player and these passes lead to goals at twice the rate they do for the Frenchman.

OK, now let's look at how many points we win per game when a player is playing (min 30 mins).
