Spurs Strikers - 3 options?
In Tottenham Tittle Tattle today we are going to look at the everchanging striker situation from the another angle and the 3 most important people for the club, Daniel Levy's, José Mourinho's and mine... of course.
Is the Tottenham striker search narrowing?
There could still be many twists and turns, but are three candidates starting to emerge as the main contenders?
Option 1
In one corner we have perhaps the Daniel Levy pick, Callum Wilson.
Wilson scored 8 goals for a relegated Bournemouth side, is an England international, has experience of the Premier League, is a proven goalscorer and is 29 next February.
In the Premier League last season he scored a goal every 362 minutes and was involved in a goal or an assist every 263 minutes.
His goal participation score this season is 27%.
Wilson has played 126 Premier League matches scoring 41 goals and having 16 assists in 9,559 minutes (equivalent of 106.21 full games).
He has scored a goal every 233 minutes and a goal or assist every 168 minutes throughout his Premier League stint.
There are reports suggesting Bournemouth want £20m and reports that Daniel Levy wants to pay less than that, perhaps around £15m with wages of £70,000 being agreed.
£15-20m
EUR€16.68 - 22.24m
AUS$27.41 - 36.59m
US$19.59 - 26.13m
£70,000
EUR€77,861
AUS$127,960
US$91,441
Wilson is homegrown, important when you have other positions to fill and one non-homegrown position to play with if we do not have Juan Foyth and Serge Aurier next season with the other expected purchases (Timothy Castagne and Kim Min-jae).
Option 2
In another corner we have the José Mourinho selection Arkadiusz Milik.
Milik has no experience of the Premier League but did have a trial for Spurs in 2011 when he was available for £89,790.
£89,790
EUR€100,000
AUS$164,200
US$117,520
Spurs decided Harry Kane was a better option at the time.
Milik is a striker at Napoli, who desperately need to sell having bought his replacement, Victor Osimhen, and spent £161.73m.
£161.73m
EUR€180m
AUS$295.45m
US$211.57m
He is a Polish international with just a year left on his contract, a contract he has refused to extend and has said he will run down if necessary.
He wants a move to Juventus and the Napoli asking price has reduced from £44.93m to £35.94m.
£44.93m
EUR€50m
AUS$82.08m
US$58.77m
£35.94m
EUR€40m
AUS$65.66m
US$47.02m
That is still too expensive for Juventus, but now they have also changed their manager with Andrea Pirlo taking over so will he still see Milik as a target, that's an unknown we don't know and could help us get his price reduced further if he isn't.
Germany Holland and Italy as well as Poland of course, mean he has adapted to different cultures, languages and football styles which augurs well for a move to England.
This season he has scored 11 goals in 26 games in
He has played 93 Serie A games, scoring 38 goals and 2 assists in 5,136 minutes (equivalent of 106.21 full games).
That a goal every 135 minutes and a goal or assist every 128 minutes.
He has a goal participation figure of 18% this season.
He has scored 8 goals in 19 Champions League games, a goal every 118 minutes.
The concern with him is 2 goals in the Bundesliga in 24 Bundesliga games, a goal every 332 minutes.
The Italian press seem to believe he should be available for around £26.94m.
£26.94m
EUR€30m
AUS$49.20m
US$35.24m
To get him at an acceptable price is a long game, Napoli have to be worn down, they have to start to fret that nobody is buying and be under pressure to lower their price.
The fact that they have overpaid for a striker is not our problem.
Can we pull that price down, we'll have to wait and see.
Option 3
In the third corner is the selection of Tottenham Hotspur Blog News (THBN), Habib Diallo.
Diallo is 26 next June and has scored 12 goals with 3 assists for Metz this season.
He has played 26 games over 2,200 minutes so has scored a goal every 183 minutes and a goal or assist every 147 minutes.
He has a goal participation figure of 55%.
In total for Metz, the Senegal international has played 111 games, scoring 48 goals and having 14 assists.
The suggestion from the French press is that he would be available for between £13.49 - £17.98m
£13.49m
EUR€15m
AUS$24.63m
US$17.63m
£17.98m
EUR€20m
AUS$32.83m
US$23.50m
His wages are the lowest of the three at £16,630 and he clearly knows where the net is.
Whilst not homegrown, he ticks all the other boxes and is someone we are interested in.
José Mourinho has all three on his potential transfer list discussed with Daniel Levy and the French press are reporting Spurs have begun negotiations.
So who are Spurs going to go for, well my choice obviously.
